Model Tests for the Damage Assessment of Adjacent Buildings in Urban Excavation (흙막이굴착에 따른 인접건물의 손상평가에 대한 모형실험연구)

  • This study is to investigate the damage assessment of adjacent structures due to excavation in urban environment. Model tests were carried out for 2 story masonry building and frame structures in various shapes and locations. The damage level of adjacent structures were very differently estimated in accordance with the shape ratio (L/h) of structures, construction stages, and various locations. Therefore the most weak part (bay) of structure must be heavily instrumented and monitored in more details at early stage of constructions. The progressive crack development mechanism at various construction stages was revealed through model tests and crack size indicated more conservative side of damage level on the damage level graph.

  • 최근 선진국에서 차세대전투기와 고속철도차량 및 자동차 동체 등 경량화를 위해 복합재료의 사용범위가 증가되고 있다. 특히 강화재로서 섬유를 직물구조의 형태를 이용한 직물구조 CFRP 복합재료는 일방향 섬유에 비해 변형능력이나 기계적 특성이 우수하여 철근 콘크리트 구조물의 보강제와 같은 구조물 등에까지 그 사용이 확대되고 있다. 하지만 직물구조 CFRP 복합재료는 내부의 손상형태나 위치를 파악하기가 어렵고 직물구조의 복잡한 강화구조를 가지기 때문에 그 역학적 손상거동과 명확한 파괴거동 해석수법은 확립되어 있지 않다.(중략)

Optimization of Sensor Location for Real-Time Damage assessment of Cable in the cable-Stayed Bridge (사장교 케이블의 실시간 손상평가를 위한 센서 배치의 최적화)

  • In this study, real-time damage evaluation of cable-stayed bridges was conducted for cable damage. ICP type acceleration sensors were used for real-time damage assessment of cable-stayed bridges, and Kinetic Energy Optimization Techniques (KEOT) were used to select the optimal conditions for the location and quantity of the sensors. When a structure vibrates by an external force, KEOT measures the value of the maximum deformation energy to determine the optimal measurement position and the quantity of sensors. The damage conditions in this study were limited to cable breakage, and cable damage was caused by dividing the cable-stayed bridge into four sections. Through FE structural analysis, a virtual model similar to the actual model was created in the real-time damage evaluation method of cable. After applying random oscillation waves to the generated virtual model and model structure, cable damage to the model structure was caused. The two data were compared by defining the response output from the virtual model as a corruption-free response and the response measured from the real model as a corruption-free data. The degree of damage was evaluated by applying the data of the damaged cable-stayed bridge to the Improved Mahalanobis Distance (IMD) theory from the data of the intact cable-stayed bridge. As a result of evaluating damage with IMD theory, it was identified as a useful damage evaluation technology that can properly find damage by section in real time and apply it to real-time monitoring.

  • This paper presents damage detection and estimation of stiffness parameter on a concrete scale model and a real structure of concrete pontoon using dynamic properties such as mode shapes and natural frequencies. In case of damage detection, dynamic impact test on a concrete scale model is accomplished to extract mode shapes and the practicality is verified by utilizing a damage detection technique. And the stiffness parameter of a real structure of concrete pontoon was estimated via system identification technique using the natural frequencies of the structure. The results indicate that the damaged elements of the scale model are found exactly using damage detection technique and the effective stiffness property of the real structure of concrete pontoon can be estimated by system identification technique.

  • Most of the conventional aseismic design methods for reinforced concrete structures, based on the strong¬column weak-beam design concept, do not necessarily the state of damage distribution over the entire frame. This paper introduces a seismic damage-controlled design method for RC frames which aim at individual member damage indices. Three design parameters, namely the longitudinal steel ratio, the confinement steel ratio and the frame member depth, were studied for their influence on the frame response to an earthquake. The usefulness of this design method will be demonstrated with a three-bay four-story building frame so that, on the one hand, the method will reduce the damage as measured by the global damage index under the same earthquake and, on the other hand, will lead to a larger capacity enabling stronger earthquakes to be accom¬odated .

Evaluation of Static Structural Integrity for Composites Wing Structure by Acoustic Emission Technique (음향방출법을 응용한 복합재 날개 구조물의 정적구조 건전성 평가)

  • AE technique was applied to the static structural test of the composite wing structure to evaluate the structural integrity and damage. During the test, strain and displacements measurement technique were used to figure out for static structural strength. AE parameter analysis and source location technique were used to evaluate the internal damage and find out damage source location. Design limit load test, the 1st and 2nd design ultimate load tests and fracture test were performed. Main AE source was detected by an sensor attached on skin near by front lug. Especially, at the 1st design ultimate test, strain and displacements results didn't show internal damage but AE signal presented a phenomenon that the internal damage was formed. At the fracture test, AE activities were very lively, and strain and displacements results showed a tendency that the load path was changed by severe damage. The internal damage initiation load and location were accurately evaluated during the static structural test using AE technique. It is certified from this paper that AE technique is useful technique for evaluation of internal damage at static structural strength test.

  • 교량, 댐, 터널 등의 대형 구조물 및 항공기 등의 기계 구조물의 경우 그 중요성과 함께 노후화 및 손상의 발생에 의한 구조물의 사고를 미연에 방지하기 위해 효과적인 건전도 평가와 손상 검색에 대한 연구가 최근 급증하고 있으며 특히 압전소자를 활용하여 구조물의 손상을 추정하는 기법들이 많이 개발되고 있다. 또한, 최근에는 압전소자와 계측기 사이를 케이블을 이용하여 연결할 경우 실제 대형 구조물에 설치 시 비효율적인 부분이 많아 무선 기반 계측시스템이 개발되고 있다. 그러나 이러한 무선 계측 시스템의 경우 압전소자의 가진 및 계측되는 데이터의 전송을 위해 별도의 전원공급이 필요하기 때문에 배터리가 포함되도록 구성되며 이럴 경우 그 수명이 제한적이기 때문에 실제 구조물에 활용 시 문제로 제기되고 있다. 이러한 배경에서 본 연구에서는 레이저를 통해 원격지의 압전소자에 무선으로 전원을 공급하여 가진시키는 시스템을 제안하였다. 압전소자를 가진시키고자 하는 임의의 파형으로 레이저를 변조(modulation)시키고 대기 중으로 전송하여, 압전소자와 연결된 광검출기(photodiode)를 통해 전기적 신호로 변환하여 최종적으로 가진시키게 된다. 이러한 시스템을 실내 실험을 통하여 구현하였으며 그 효용성을 살펴보았다.

  • This paper investigates the effects of tunnelling-induced ground movements on nearby structures, considering soil-structure interactions of different construction (ground loss) and soil characteristics. The response of four-story block structures, which are subjected to tunnelling-induced ground movements, has been investigated in different construction (ground loss) and soil conditions using numerical analysis. The structures for numerical analysis has been modelled using Discrete Element Method (DEM) to have real cracks when the shear and tensile stress exceed the maximum shear and tensile strength. The response of four-story block structures has been investigated with a ground movement magnitude and compared in terms of construction (ground loss) and soil conditions considering the magnitude of deformations and cracks in structures. In addition, the damage levels, which are possibly induced in structures, has been provided in terms of construction (ground loss) and soil conditions using the state of strain damage estimation criterion (Son and Cording, 2005). The results of this study will provide a background for better understandings for controlling and minimizing building damage on nearby structures due to tunnelling-induced ground movements.

Damage quantification of shear buildings using deflections obtained by modal flexibility (모드유연도 행렬 변위를 이용한 전단빌딩의 정량적 손상평가 방법)

  • 본 논문에서는 상사진동에서의 응답을 통해 구성된 모드유연도 행렬에 의해 추정되는 변위/변형을 이용해 전당빌딩의 손상을 정량적으로 평가하는 방법을 제시하였다. 제안된 방법은 전단빌딩의 손살발생 후의 층간변위와 손상발생 전 후의 층간변위 차이인 Damage-induced inter-story deflection(DI-ID)의 관계를 이용해 손상을 정량적으로 평가하는 방법이다. 구조물이 양전단력만을 발생시킴으로써 층간변위를 분명히 파악할 수 있도록 하는 양전단력 탐색하중(Positive Shear Inspection Load)을 통해 DI-ID를 산정한다. 제안된 방법의 검증을 위해 5층의 전단빌딩 축소모형을 대상구조물로 선정했으며, 단일손상과 다중손상의 모사를 위해 1층과 3층의 휨강성을 각각 10% 씩 저감시켰다. Static test와 modal test를 통해 각각의 결과를 비교하는 방법으로 제안된 방법의 성능검증을 수행했으며, 축소모형실험 결과, 두 실험간 평균오차 1% 이내로 정확도를 검증했다.

  • In the present work, a sensor system composed of an oscillator sensor and a Lamb wave sensor is proposed for the purpose of structural health monitoring. The oscillator sensing system detecting the shift of a structural resonant frequency in proportion to the amount of defects in the structure is a pretty sensitive and simple device, but its detectable range is limited to its local zone. The Lamb wave sensor system, however, is applicable to global detection of the defects. This study is aimed at investigating the feasible combination of the two systems to exploits their merits simultaneously. The scheme to use PZT patches as the oscillator sensor as well as the Lamb wave sensor was proposed to identify the position, length and number of cracks by means of TOF and amplitude of signals, and its validity was confirmed through experiments.
