Pre-Service Biology Teachers' Views of the Nature of Science and the Origins of Human Beings: Focusing on Religions (예비 생물교사의 과학의 본성과 인간의 기원에 대한 인식 조사: 종교배경을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate pre-service biology teachers' perception of the evolution. This study was to compare the views of pre-service biology teachers with no religion with those of christian preservice teachers. Subjects were 77 pre-service biology teachers who enrolled in an university and graduate school of education located in Seoul. The instrument of this study was a questionnaire which consisted of 14 items on 2 domains: the nature of science, the origins of human beings. The key results are as follows. Most pre-service teachers showed highly understanding of the characteristics of science. However pre-service biology teachers still possessed naive views on the distinction of law and theory. In terms of the methods of science, many of the pre-service biology teachers considered scientific theories to progress through the accumulation of observation and experiments or through changes and modifications in existing theories. Compared with the pre-service teachers with no religion, christian pre-service teachers had conflicting views and misconceptions about the origins of human beings. The factors of religion were found to be one of the important barriers which prevent them from understanding the origins of human beings. The results suggested that the education program for pre-service biology teachers integrating the concepts and development process of the scientific knowledges should be effective for understanding the nature of science. For pre-service biology teachers, It is important to understand conflicting views of the christian pre-service teachers who understand creationism as a science.

The Effect of Grouping by Communication Apprehension Level in Paired Think-Aloud Problem Solving for Middle School Chemistry (중학교 화학에 적용한 해결자.·청취자 활동에서 의사소통 불안 수준에 따른 소집단 구성의 효과)

  • In this study, the effect of grouping by communication apprehension level in paired think-aloud problem solving was examined. Three classes of 9th graders (N=99) were randomly assigned to a control group, homogeneous group or heterogeneous group based on the test scores of their communication apprehension. After the instructions concerning ‘writing balanced chemical equation', ‘the law of conservation of mass', and ‘the law of definite proportions' for 7 class hours, students' chemistry problem solving ability and the perception to the paired think-aloud problem solving were examined. Two-way ANOVA results revealed that there was an interactive effect in the score of chemistry problem solving ability test. In simple effect test for the students of low communication apprehension, the scores of the heterogeneous group were found to be significantly higher than those of the control group. However, the students in homogeneous group had relatively positive perceptions to the paired think-aloud problem solving.

  • This paper represents the development of a CLS(Control Loading System) for a target a airplane (KT-1) with mechanical linkage reversible flight control system. The system is composed of mechanical frame, controller, sensing part to measure the force from the stick, driving system generating the reaction forces. The DS1103 DSP(Digital Signal Processor) of the dSpace Corp. was used as the controller. The control algorithm of the CLS and the operational environment including monitoring software and evaluation tools are described. The evaluation of the system was conducted according to the requirement specification. The results of the test were analyzed by comparing with the actual data of the target airplane.

Development of Analysis Method and Experimental Equipment for Fatigue Durability of Automotive Wire Harness System (자동차 와이어 하네스 피로내구 해석 방법론 및 시험기기 개발)

  • In this study, the methodology for the fatigue life prediction using finite element method(FEM) in wire, bundle and assembly level of the wire harness system and the development of the fatigue life test machine for the numerical analysis are investigated. To obtain stress-life(S-N) histories of the componential wires of the system, five kinds of wires are prepared and applied to the repeated bending motion using developed fatigue life test equipment. Equivalent model of the wire from the rule of mixtures theory is used for the material modeling of sheath and wire core combination. Contact conditions among the wires, taping conditions are established through the bundle level test and numerical bundle analysis. Wire and bundle level results are adopted for the assembly level analysis. For the assembly level analysis, real wire harness system including bundle and grommet is numerically modeled and applied contact condition between wires with real opening motion. The fatigue life more than 700,000 cycles of the assembly is obtained from the FEM, and it is confirmed that the result has good agreement with the experimental result.

Predicting the Nonlinear Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Membrane Elements Subjected to Reversed Cyclic Loading (반복하중을 받는 철근콘크리트 막요소의 비선형거동에 대한 예측)

  • The behaviors of the reinforced concrete membrane elements are expected by Navier's three principles of the mechanics of materials. The adopted cyclic stress-strain curves of concrete consist of seven different unloading and loading stages in the compressive zone and six other stages in the tensile zone. The curves took into account the softening of concrete that was influenced by the tensile strain in the perpendicular direction of cracks. The stress-strain relationships for steel bar embedded in concrete subjected to reversed cyclic forces considered the tension stiffening effect and Baushinger effect. The predicted results of the analysis based on Navier's principles were in good agreement with the observed shear stress-strain relationships as well as transverse and longitudinal strains.

  • In this paper, we propose a method that can be used to back-stepping controller design for speed control of Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) motor. First, back-stepping controller is designed with load torque estimator. The estimator is included to adapt to the variation of load torque in real time. Finally, the proposed controller is tested through experiment with a 120W BLDC motor for the angular velocity reference tracking performance and load torque volatility estimation. The simulation result verifies the performance of the proposed controller.

  • The Fly-By-Wire system was first applied to the fighter and its inherent advantages lead to the advent of the Fly-By-Wire civil aircraft. Recently even the small jet aircraft shows the trend of adopting the Fly-By-Wire system. In the future, most of the aircraft are expected to be the Fly-By-Wire type. In this paper, the structure and the characteristics of the Fly-By-Wire system applied to the civil aircraft was described. The development trend of the redundant method of the flight control system, data communication system, control surface actuation system and the control laws implemented by the Fly-By-Wire system of the civil aircraft are discussed.

ON THE FIFTH FORCE AND THE STRUCTURE OF NEUTRON STAR (제 5힘과 중성자성의 구조)

  • In the framework of Thomas-Fermi equation, we have examined the properties of neutron star by assuming the existence of a new intermediate force which is composition dependent. We have found that the structure, size and mass of neutron star are affected by the strength and range of this new force. In the ultrarelativistic limit, we have also confirmed that Chandraseknar mass, $M_{ch}\simeq(1-\alpha)^{-3/2}{m_{pl}}^3/m^2$ is determined by the constants of classical physical laws, which take part in the selfgravitating processes on neutron star as well as the constant of hypothetical fifth force. In the experimental limits of the fifth force, the changes of size and mass of a neutron star are in the order of strength parameter $\alpha$.

  • 본 연구는 머리운동 제어 시스템에 대한 생체 물리학적인 모델링과 시뮬레이션을 통하여 모델의 동특성을 조사하였으며, 생체운동(머리-안구)의 상호 관계를 비교하였다. 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 시스템을 구성하고 있는 매개변수의 변화가 출력에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위해 감도해석법을 써서 감도계수를 구한 결과, 입력 제어신호의 펄스높이(PH), 동근의 펄스폭(PW1), 길항근의 펄스폭(PW2)이, 시스템의 출력특성을 결정하는 가장 중요한 매개변수 임을 알 수 있었다. 2) 비 선형 제어모델의 선형화를 통하여 선형모델의 응답특성과 크나큰 차이가 없음을 알았다. 3) Main-Sequence도를 작성하여 실험 데이터와 비교한 결과, 거의 일치함으로서 모델의 타당성을 입증하였다. 4) 머리운동이 시간최적으로 응답하기 위해서는 bang-bang 제어법칙이 적용되어야 함을 알았다. 5) 머리운동이 목표점에 도달하는 순간에는 길항근의 역제통 펄스가 가해 짐으로서, 길항근이 궤적의 마지막 부분을 지배함을 알았다. 6) 머리-안구운동의 main-sequence도를 비교 함으로서 상호관계를 규명하였다. 앞으로는 이 모델링 법을 개선확장하면, 비행시 파일럿의 생체 시뮬레이션, 헬멧 조준 사격 시스템등의 항공공학, 생체의용공학 연구 및 제어입력을 생체신호로 하는 로봇틱스 연구에 본 연구 방법은 유용하리라 생각된다.

Dynamic modeling of supersonic engine for control law design considering the air disturbance (비행중 대기 외란을 고려한 초음속 엔진 제어용 모델링 기법 연구)

  • Dynamic model for supersonic engine is proposed to design control law. The model structure is constructed to capture the local characteristics of supersonic and subsonic flow by using conservation equations. To evaluate the stability of control law under the disturbances, the air turbulence model is incorporated with the engine model. The combined model shows analogous results compared to performance analysis model which is good coincidence with CFD results and disturbance effects.
