According to the sample design of the Youth Health Behavior online survey, a total of 57,303 adolescents were analyzed for frequency of composite samples, x2-test of composite samples, and logistic regression of composite samples, and the IBM SPSS Statistics 20.0 program was used and the significance level was 0.05. Results, BMI was associated with bad breath, and sleep time was associated with tooth break, pain, bleeding, and bad breath. Therefore, BMI and sleep time should be considered for the management and prevention of oral diseases in adolescents.

  • This study was conducted to provide the information for the promotion of oral health in nursing students. The subjects were 207 in female students for self-administered questionnaires. The percentage of subject to visit dental clinic was 64.3%, to Regular checkup was 25.9%, cure of caries was 23.5% for last one year. The percentage of reasons not treated 'less importance' were 12.6%, 'fear of the dental clinic' was 10.6%. The average number of brushing teeth were 3.1. 56.0% students brush their teeth for two ~ three minutes. But intention of visit to the dentist were 'only when treated' was 51.7%, 'only when there is pain' was 10.1%. The intention of oral education was 54.6%, the content of the desired education 'whitening' were 34.5%, 'prevention of bad breath' was 19.2%. Dental health information acquisition path 'internet' were 42.0%, 'family or friends' was 25.6%. Susceptibility was 2.47 points, severity was 2.00 points, benefit was 4.03 points in oral health belief. Compared to students who needed dental treatment but did not receive treatment, oral health beliefs were higher among those who were treated(p<.001), students with cavities showed a higher level of oral health belief than those without cavities(p<.001). There was significant corelation between 'number of caries' and susceptibility(r=.330, p=.002), severity(r=.25, p=.019). The result should be reflected in the development of effective program for nursing students' oral health care.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of middle school students' health factors and eating behaviors on their oral symptoms using the data from 30,885 students in the 13th Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-Based Survey in 2017. The logistic regression for the effects of the health factors and eating behaviors on the oral symptoms were analyzed using a logistic regression method. The results showed that the groups of higher levels of achievement, and stress, lower daily frequency of tooth-brushing, and no intake of processing meat led to significantly higher levels for toothache and gingival pain recognition. Also, the higher halitosis recognizers had significantly higher levels of stress and the lower daily frequency of tooth-brushing. In conclusion, adolescents' health factors and eating behaviors affected their oral symptoms. This study is expected to help development of a oral health education program that can prevent these oral symptoms.

  • This study aims to analyze realities of oral health and related factors, and establish Structural Equation Modeling. The subjects of study were 9,340 elderly over age 65 who took the health examination(the first) for the local insured which National Health Insurance Corporation carried out in the survey area mentioned below from January 2002 to December 2002. The areas surveyed were 4 big cities including Seongbuk-ku, Seoul, 5 medium cities including Wonjusi, Gangwon-do, and 5 Counties including Yeong deok County, Kyeongbuk. Considering location and the scale of population, firstly, big unit areas(metropolitan city, province) were selected according to convenience, secondly, low unit areas(city, county, district) were selected randomly. The subjects were the elderly who took all tests including an oral examination and filled in the questionnaire. Major results from analysis are as follows: 1. Review of Composition Conception Validity As a result of analyzing composition conception validity of SEM including posture test, urine test, blood test, habits of eating, drinking and smoking, oral symptoms, and oral health status, using fit index such as GFI, CFI, TLI, and RMSEA, all were within fit range and composition conception validity was recognized. 2. As a result of analyzing SEM to find the relationship between each factor and oral health status, it was confirmed that all factors except urine test affected oral health status and the synthetic SEM to explain it could be established. In result, we could verify that the elderly of rural areas who had lesser experience of visiting a clinic and oral prophylaxis had a higher rate of caries, missing teeth, and denture need, and drinking and smoking negatively affected the rate of caries, periodontal, and missing teeth. Also, periodontal diseases were observed from 43.2% of the total elderly and much from the lower age. Most of oral disease can be prevented by right oral health behavior. Therefore through oral health professionals from each district public health center of the nation, oral health education for the elderly about right eating habits and oral health care should be carried out systematically and policy change to increase access to dental service is required lest that visiting a dental clinic should be impossible or oral health behaviors such as oral prophylaxis and denture wearing should be neglected by economic, geographical barriers. Also, to establish SEM to explain the relationship between oral health status and systemic health, more accurate test methods and effective index development should be preceded. Because items developed by National Health Insurance Corporation applied to this study without alteration, structuring a model had the uppermost limit. Continual study seems to be needed.

  • To investigate knowledge and attitude of parents about early childhood caries and dental caries prevention, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 247 parents of children who had oral screening experience among 3 to 5 years old children in 3 kindergartens in Jeonju city. A total of 220 completed questionnaires were selected for final analysis. The overall perception of the parents about oral health of the children was 82.3 points (10.7 / 13) in terms of 100 points. There were statistically significant correlations between maternal age (p = 0.027), maternal education level (p = 0.002), household monthly income (p = 0.000) and maternal oral health knowledge level. The main source of oral health information was 'dentist and dental hygienist'(83.6%) followed by 'Web search'(22.3%). Compared with the previous studies, the level of knowledge of parents about oral health of the children was improved. However, in order to raise awareness of the parents about the poorly assessed items in this study, it is necessary to increase the participation rate by advertising the national dental screening program for infants and children and make efforts to improve the quality of oral health education in screening.

  • This study was to examine relation of oral health knowledge and oral health behavior, targeting university students who major in health-related majors 198 students and health-unrelated majors 203 students. Oral health behavior by general characteristics appears most highest junior and senior sophomore, health-related major, regular dental check-up, dental education experience. 'It is effective in preventing bad breath brushing the tongue when brushing' of oral health knowledge reached 94.5% most highest. The health-related is high 'fluoride helps to prevent cavities.' 'Brushing tongue' of oral health behavior is most highest average 4.20. The health-related is high 'I know the brushing method that's right for me, and enforcement' and 'I am regular scaling for periodontal disease prevention'. To identify influence that general characteristics and oral health knowledge to oral health behavior, regression analysis result Y(oral health behavior)=2.692+0.377(regular dental check-up)+0.145(rental education experience)+ 0.215(method of oral health education)+0.045(oral health knowledge) was come out. Therefore, university students need to improve their oral health, structuring environment where information about oral health is reached out easily.
