  • Flight control computer of tiltrotor UAV was designed by redundancy system with primary and secondary channels to improve reliability. The redundancy functions consist of channel switching and data recovery. The channel switching function consists of software method by using cross channel data link and hardware method by using watchdog timer. The data recovery is the function to maintain flight condition when the flight control computer is restarted exceptionally in operation. The redundancy system was verified by flight control computer bench test, system integration test and HILS test. This paper describes the redundancy function of tiltrotor UAV flight control computer and test-verification method.

  • The government aims to commercialize Level 4 autonomous buses and shuttles by 2025, expanding the demonstration of Level 3 autonomous buses on urban streets, where various factors affecting the driving conditions raise safety concerns. This study used actual driving data from autonomous buses in Pangyo to identify the disengagement locations and analyzed the static and dynamic road environment factors. The results showed that the disengagement of autonomous buses frequently occurs near intersections and bus stops, with those at the bus stops due primarily to operational procedures requiring driver intervention. Excluding these, the analysis identified crosswalks and driveways as static factors, whereas fog and rain are dynamic factors affecting disengagements. Based on these findings, recommendations were proposed to minimize disengagements, aiming to improve the operational safety of autonomous buses in Korea and address upcoming challenges.

  • Novel class-A bipolar current conveyor($CCII{\pm}$) with differential current output and its application to output current controllable CCII+ for electronic tuning systems are designed. The $CCII{\pm}$ is consists of conventional CCII+ and complementary cross current sources. The CCII+ with controllable the output current consists of the $CCII{\pm}$ and a current gain amplifier with single-ended current output. The simulation result shows that the $CCII{\pm}$ has current input impedance of $1.9{\Omega}$ and a good linearity for voltage and current follower. The proposed CCII+ has 3-dB cutoff frequency of 10MHz for the range over bias control current $100{\mu}A$ to 10mA. The range of output current control is four decade. The power dissipation of the CCII+ is 4.5mW at supply voltage of ${\pm}2.5V$.

  • As of March 2005, the standard of traffic signal controllers became effective. The standard presents specifications and functions of a traffic signal controller which collects traffic information, sends it to the traffic control center, and controls traffic signal with adequate traffic signal timing provided by the traffic control center. Since the controllers by the previous standard lack parts compatibility and have different control functions and communication protocol, the maintenance cost has been increased. Also, some important functions like conflict detection have not worked out perfectly. To overcome these disadvantages, first of all, this standard secures hardware compatibility. Conflict detection method has been enhanced. Communication protocol to the traffic control center was included in the standard. With this standard, independent maintenance system and prompt treatment of hardware malfunctions becomes possible. Also, the unified intersection traffic control method will increase traffic safety.

  • In this paper, we design and implement a digital LCD stopwatch function of the remote control. The central controller and LCD stopwatch is implemented based on the clock signal of the crystal oscillator of 8MHz by using ATmega8 processor in the AVR representative series of ATMEL, Communication module basic, ZBS-using the ISM 2.4GHz frequency band at 100. Stopwatch of remote control that has been proposed, it is possible to solve the three problems. First, it is possible to solve the sight deviation between broadcast camera and panelists glance to large LCD stopwatch monitors. Second, it is possible to avoid the trouble of broadcasting cameras cross replacement, Third, it is possible to minimize the inconvenient of the viewer corresponding to the operation of the horizontal movement of the broadcast camera.

  • Even though the semi-actuated signal control system based on image detectors has been spreading in Korea, any appropriate methods to evaluate the effectiveness and performance has not been established yet. Therefore, this research effort is aiming at developing a systematic method for evaluating the effectiveness and performance of the semi-actuated signal control system based on image detectors. To this end, this research firstly established measures of effectiveness(MOEs) and associated information to be surveyed from fields. Secondly, this research provided a procedure and methodology to evaluate any improvements due to the introduction of a semi-actuated signal control system based on image detectors. The developed methodology was examined at a case study site located in the city of Paju. As a result of the evaluation, the MOEs including traffic throughput, travel speeds, split usage rate, progression rate, etc. showed positive improvements though individual signalized intersections as well as coordinated corridors.

  • The operational effect of traffic signal control improvement was evaluated using the Two-Fluid Model. The parameters engaged in the Two-Fluid Model becomes food indicators to measure the quality of traffic flow due to the improvement of traffic signal operation. A series of experiment were conduced for the 31 signalized intersections in Uijeongbu City. To estimate the parameters in the Two-Fluid Model the trajectory informations of individual vehicles were collected using the CORSIM and Run Time Extension. The test results showed 35 percent decrease of average minimum trip time per unit distance. One of the parameters in the Two-Fluid Model is a measure of the resistance of the network to the degraded operation with the increased demand. The test result showed 28 percent decrease of this parameter. In spite of the simulation results of the arterial flow, it was concluded that the Two-Fluid Model is useful tool to evaluate the improvement of the traffic signal control system from the macroscopic aspect.

  • The technique for synthesizing reactive motion in real-time is important in many applications such as computer games and virtual reality. This paper presents a dynamic motion control technique for creating reactive motions in a physically based character animation system. The leg to move in the next step is chosen using the direction of external disturbance forces and states of human figures and then is lifted though joint PD control. We decide the target position of the foot to balance the body without leg cross. Finally, control mechanism is used to generate reactive motion. The advantage of our method is that it is possible to generate reactive animations without example motions.

  • This paper presents the design of optimal fuzzy classifier for human detection by using genetic algorithms, one of the best-known meta-heuristic search methods. For this purpose, encoding scheme to search the optimal sequential intersection points between adjacent fuzzy membership functions is originally presented for the fuzzy classifier design for HOG (Histograms of Oriented Gradient) descriptors. The intersection points are sequentially encoded in the proposed encoding scheme to reduce the redundancy of search space occurred in the combinational problem. Furthermore, the fitness function is modified with the true-positive and true-negative of the confusion matrix instead of the total success rate. Experimental results show that the two proposed approaches give superior performance in HOG datasets.
