A Research on the Extended Definition of Educational Serious Game and Guiding Directions through Categorizations of Serious Games (교육을 위한 기능성 게임 연구의 확장적 정의와 범주화를 통한 기능성 게임 연구의 발전방향에 대한 연구)

  • The study was conducted for cohering academical achievement of serious game studies as well as for attempting to give directions for interdisciplinary development. The purpose of the study were, first, it provides a rationale for integrating game studies lied scattered into a game study field or game industry. Second, by providing exemplary studies according to categories and by analyzing how those studies have been studied, this study provides a milestone for future researchers who are interested in serious game studies. In the article, the author suggests the extended definition of educational serious game study. The educational serious game study is "the study which investigates educational affordances of game including both explicitly intended designed for education and designed for fun but having implicit educational meanings, through the context of formal educational settings as well as informal environments." The author also researched how extended educational serious game studies have been researched according to four categories; game studies which researched educationally designed serious games, commercial games used for educational fields, educational serious games for informal learning, and those found meanings of games. This study has scholarly significance, especially on game study fields. for delineating game studies, a range of proposed and actual applications of educational serious game are reviewed, guiding directions for future studies.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 현장형 교육으로 이루어졌던 치매 예방 교육을 보다 접근하기 쉽도록 애플리케이션으로 개발한다. 기존의 보드 게임이나 카드게임 형식으로 되어 있는 치매 브레인트레이닝 게임을 안드로이드 기반으로 구현하고, 보호자의 조호 지침을 시각화하여 이해를 돕는 콘텐츠를 개발을 통해 치매 예방에 도움이 되는 게임은 물론 치매 예방에 관련된 정보를 제공한다. 또한 가족들이 치매 예방 교육의 원활한 진행 상황을 애플리케이션을 통해 확인 할 수 있는 기능을 구현한다.

  • Due to the fast development of information technology, a variety of edutainment software has been used in the field of business education. One of them is business simulation game that the business game domain and the information technology is definitely associated. A lot of business simulation game have been developed and used for many courses of colleges and corporate training in USA and EU. However, education program based on business simulation game has not been activated in Korea. This paper examined the education effect of business simulation game. It was found that managers who were educated and trained with business simulation game were very satisfied with a business simulation game. Based on the statistical results, the method of business education using business simulation game was also suggested.

  • Energy saving is becoming more and more important issue due to lack of resources and limited nature. However, There is a lack of learning status on energy saving in the school field. In particular, in elementary education on energy saving was not linked to practice, and the educational effect was insufficient. Although various kinds of learning tools are utilized, many successful cases of energy saving game strategy are introduced in overseas industry field, and game design is proposed so that energy related education can be played through games. Because energy conservation can not be effective without practice, learning using games as a tool is expected to be more effective than learning based on knowledge transfer in the classroom. We propose a defense game for energy conservation education by using the mission elements, score acquisition element, time limit element, and character element which are the interesting elements of the game designed in the previous research.

  • 최근 프로그래밍 교육에 대한 요구가 그 어느때보다 높아지고 있다. 특히 프로그래밍교육이 초등학교때부터 의무화되는 2018년을 맞이하여, 수많은 프로그래밍 교육을 위한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 트라이코딩은 게임을 사용하여 학생 스스로가 프로그래밍 및 알고리즘을 학습할 수 있다. 트라이코딩은 기존의 블록기반 및 그림 기반의 프로그래밍 교육을 거친 학생 또는 처음 접하는 학생도 쉽게 게임을 통하여 프로그래밍에 대한 지식을 습득할 수 있게 설계를 하였다. 프로그래밍 언어는 기본적으로 영어를 기반으로 하고 있기 때문에 기초 영어에 대한 이해도가 없이는 이 게임을 진행하기는 힘들어, 추후 게임내에서 사용되는 기초영어 정도는 이 게임에서 학습할 수 있게 하는 시스템이 필요하다.

  • Due to the fast development of information technology, a variety of edutainment software has been used in the field of business education. One of them is Business Simulation Game that the business game domain and the information technology is definitely associated. A lot of business simulation game have been developed and used for many courses of colleges and corporate training in USA and EU. However, education program based on business simulation game has not been activated in Korea. This paper introduce a business simulation game developed by joint effort of business professors and a software firm for last three years and suggest the method of business education using this business simulation game. First of all, the development process, architecture and procedure of business simulation game are summarized. From a perspective of business education, the effect and advantage of business simulation game, sample syllabus, course outlines, users, missions and evaluation method are also addressed.

  • A Serious Game helps the learners to recognize the problems effectively, grasp and classify important information needed to solve the problems and convey the contents of what they have learned. Owing not only to this game-like fun but also to the educational effect, The Serious Game can be usefully applied to education and training in the areas of scientific technology and industrial technology. This study proposes the Serious Game that users can apply to biotechnology by using intuitive multi-modal interfaces. In this study, a stereoscopic monitor is used to make three dimensional molecular structures, and multi-modal interface is used to efficiently control. Based on a such system, this study easily solved the docking simulation function, which is one of the important experiments, by applying these game factors. For this, we suggested the level-up concept as a game factor that depends on numbers of objects and users. The proposed system was evaluated in performance comparison in result time of a new drug design process on AIDS virus with previous approach.

  • Digital educational game market is growing as it expands to smart platforms such as smart phones and tablet PCs. As games have become digital in the classroom evolving to two-ways. In this paper, it designed that enables elementary students to acquire musical knowledge related to musicians through digital board games. By collecting achievement cards of musicians associated with. Elementary students repeatedly gain relevant musical knowledge in the end. The developed game was simulated using Petri net to check the gameplay flow.

  • 프로그래밍 교육이 초 중 고교에서 의무화될 예정인 가운데 코딩을 쉽고 재미있게 배우기 위한 교육 개발의 중요성이 대두되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 유아용 프로그래밍 교육 도구인 '큐베토'를 모티브로 하여 창의력, 상상력에 과학기술이 더해진 창의적 융합인재교육에 접목한 에듀테인먼트를 기반으로 한 STEAM 게임 콘텐츠 제작의 프로토타입을 제안한다. 제안된 STEAM 게임 콘텐츠는 유아의 흥미를 유발할 수 있도록 출판물 동화를 활용하여 길을 찾아 모험을 떠나는 스토리 전개와 캐릭터를 제작하고 이를 통해서 유아의 창의적 융합인재교육에 도움이 될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

Comparison of Learning Immersion Experiences According to Cognitive Style in Online Edu-games (온라인 교육용 게임에서의 인지양식에 따른 학습 몰입경험 비교)

  • One often thinks that those doing any activity on the Internet are likely to be addicted to it so that they tend to rather restrain the educational use of what the Internet can provide. However, the online edu-games deserve a good learning material which can not only provoke learners' interest but also draw out a smoother interaction between teachers and learners. Even the preliminary study on immersion verified that the Internet could work positively for the learners. Considering that online edu-games can be a useful tool for individual learning, more studies on immersion should be conducted focusing on the individualization in the future. This paper shows the differences among the components of learning immersion depending on the different individual cognitive styles in the online edu-games.
