In this study, the method for processing glue and glue-alum sizing from the dancheong ground treatment was evaluated with respect to weather resistance, and its effect on the conservation of dancheong was analyzed. Viscosity and pH of the glue and glue-alum specimen were measured and classified into three categories(none layer, glue layer, and glue-alum layer), which were further classified according to low concentration(four times for 2%) and high concentration(once for 10%). The base layer formation was subsequently classified into three categories based on pigment adoption, namely, Noerok(celadonite), Seokganju(terra rossa), and Jangdan(red lead). The completed specimen was subjected to a changing-environment experiment for evaluating weather resistance and observing the surface. Color variations were analyzed before and after the experiment. The results indicate that glue-alum sizing comprising 5% alum or 7% alum has strong acidity that can affect the life of dancheong, and the high level of 7% alum makes it difficult to create a solid coating layer. After ultraviolet irradiation, the specimen with 7% alum changes its color to yellow. Furthermore, after moisture absorption and drying, cracks can be observed on the entire specimen surface that corroborate the physical change. Additionally, gas-based corrosion causes marginal surface changes. Hence, the formation of a stable coating layer can be achieved by incorporating a low concentration glue solution that is almost neutral, and the application of glue-alum sizing having 2% concentration can aid in the conservation of dancheong.
Power consumption for paddle impeller in spherical and cylindrical agitated vessel was measured over a wide range of Reynolds number from laminar to turbulent flow regions. The power correlation was obtained for both spherical and cylindrical vessels, where the apparent diameter of the spherical vessel was equal to the diameter of the cylindrical vessel (height equal to its diameter and had the same volume as the spherical vessel). The power consumption well correlated with the experimental results of Nagata, et al. and Hixson-Baum. Also the critical Reynolds numbers was directly related to the transition coefficient $C_{tr}$ characterizing the transition from a laminar to a turbulent flow region in the correlation proposed here.

Recently, mixers are being widely used in the display and semiconductor company in order to mix the chemical materials. The mixer normally consists of shaft, hub, reduction gear, and driving motor. It is one of the key design factors to evaluate the dynamic characteristics caused by the rotation. In this study, the dynamic characteristics of the high speed mixer, such as vibration, noise and thermal radiation, are verified by the experiment. Through the experiment, it is shown that the structural unbalance mass of high speed mixer is the important source of the severe vibrations and maximum temperature is mixer bowl.
Industrial mixers to homogeneously blend particulate materials have been developed and widely used in various industries. However, most industrial mixers have at most two-degree-of-freedom for the operation, which limits the range of operation parameter selection for optimal blending. This paper proposes a multi-degree-of-freedom robotic mixer designed by converging a conventional drum blender and a robotic manipulator and evaluated its performance in a virtual operating environment. Discrete element simulations were conducted for mixing performance evaluation. The numerical results showed that the proposed mixer design exhibits a better mixing performance than conventional ones.
The oxygen transfer rate at the liquid surface of the reciprocally shaking vessel was studied. The required power of the reciprocally shaking vessel was not proportional to the shaking frequency, unlike the rotational shaking vessel, and the liquid level suddenly fluctuated greatly at a certain frequency as the flow pattern in the vessel was a left and right wave flow different from that of the rotational shaking that has a rotational flow. The effect of the shaking frequency on the required power in the reciprocally shaking vessel was very complex, such as less power required than the rotational shaking vessel when the shaking frequency is more than 3 s-1, but the required power for the range of the generated rotational flow in the reciprocally shaking vessel could be correlated with the equation that was reported for the rotational shaking vessel. The kLa (mass transfer capacity coefficient) in the reciprocally shaking vessel also increased in a complex pattern because the required power for shaking was not consumed in a simple pattern, unlike kLa in the rotational shaking vessel, which increases linearly with increasing frequency. The kLa of the reciprocally shaking vessel was larger than the kLa of the rotational shaking vessel, and as the kLa value increased, the difference between them increased sharply. As a result, the oxygen transfer rate in the reciprocal motion was greater than that of the rotational motion, and could be correlated with the required power per unit volume.
The characteristic floc growth of Al-based coagulants was investigated in the aspect of mixing intensity and visualization of generated flocs during coagulation and flocculation processes. Zeta potential of turbid particles in the artificial water nearly approached to zero at pH 8-9, in which TDS and conductivity were minimized. The removal rate of turbidity and phosphate was maximized at the optimal mixing intensity of rapid and slow mixing stages. After the rapid mixing stage of coagulation process, small particles ($3-5{\mu}m$) were abruptly generated, and higher mixing intensity made more numbers of flocs. With the progress of slow mixing stage, the number of small particles were decreased with the simultaneous increase of intermediate particles ($7-21{\mu}m$). The number of large particles (>$23{\mu}m$) were maximized at the lowest rapid mixing intensity of $95.1sec^{-1}$, whereas small particles (<$5{\mu}m$) were maximized at the highest rapid mixing intensity of $760.7sec^{-1}$.

This paper reports the development of an automatic system for mixing offset printing ink. The ink mixing process is important in industrial fields where paint and ink are used. In particular, there is a demand for automating the process of producing spot colors, which involves mixing a small quantity of high-viscosity ink. The authors designed, fabricated, and experimentally tested an automatic mixing system that employs the revolution and rotation of ink and the transmission by belts. The performance of the ink mixing system was verified by conducting numerous experiments to determine the effect of rotation direction, speed, ink container axis angle, and ink amount. Conditions suitable for mixing offset ink are presented for use as guidelines for producing spot colors.
