Fatigue Behavior of Steel-Concrete Composite Bridge Deck with Perfobond Rib Shear Connector (유공판재형 전단연결재를 갖는 강-콘크리트 합성바닥판의 피로거동에 관한 연구)

  • Bridge deck is directly influenced by environment and vehicle load, it is easily damaged so that it requires an appropriate repair and retrofit. Therefore, developing a bridge deck with high durability is necessary in order to minimize the maintenance of bridge deck and use it to its design life. In this study, static test was carried out to evaluate a fatigue capacity of steel-concrete composite deck, which was newly developed by supplementing problems of existing reinforced concrete deck. Based on results from the static test, fatigue load was decided, and fatigue test was conducted under the constant amplitude repeated load. From the fatigue tests, the S-N curve regarding principle structural details of composite deck was made, and characteristics of fatigue behavior was estimated by comparing and evaluating it with fatigue design criteria. In addition, fatigue design guideline was presented. As a result, it is found that each structural details of composite deck proposed by this study, such as upper flange of corrugated steel plate and middle section of it, shear connector and lower flange of corrugated steel plate, is satisfying the fatigue strength.

  • 교량, 댐, 터널 등의 대형 구조물 및 항공기 등의 기계 구조물의 경우 그 중요성과 함께 노후화 및 손상의 발생에 의한 구조물의 사고를 미연에 방지하기 위해 효과적인 건전도 평가와 손상 검색에 대한 연구가 최근 급증하고 있으며 특히 압전소자를 활용하여 구조물의 손상을 추정하는 기법들이 많이 개발되고 있다. 또한, 최근에는 압전소자와 계측기 사이를 케이블을 이용하여 연결할 경우 실제 대형 구조물에 설치 시 비효율적인 부분이 많아 무선 기반 계측시스템이 개발되고 있다. 그러나 이러한 무선 계측 시스템의 경우 압전소자의 가진 및 계측되는 데이터의 전송을 위해 별도의 전원공급이 필요하기 때문에 배터리가 포함되도록 구성되며 이럴 경우 그 수명이 제한적이기 때문에 실제 구조물에 활용 시 문제로 제기되고 있다. 이러한 배경에서 본 연구에서는 레이저를 통해 원격지의 압전소자에 무선으로 전원을 공급하여 가진시키는 시스템을 제안하였다. 압전소자를 가진시키고자 하는 임의의 파형으로 레이저를 변조(modulation)시키고 대기 중으로 전송하여, 압전소자와 연결된 광검출기(photodiode)를 통해 전기적 신호로 변환하여 최종적으로 가진시키게 된다. 이러한 시스템을 실내 실험을 통하여 구현하였으며 그 효용성을 살펴보았다.

Characteristics of Heavy Vehicles Using Expressway Networks Based on Weigh-in-motion Data (WIM 데이터를 이용한 고속도로 중차량 특성 분석)

  • The design life and durability of the bridges are strongly affected by the Gross Vehicle Weight(GVW) of heavyweight trucks. The Weigh-In-Motion(WIM) systems are typically used to collect information on truck total weight and speed. The statistical analysis of the GVW measured using High Speed WIM systems showed that most of heavy vehicles were from Vehicle Type 7, 10, and 12. The analysis was also carried out to determine goodness of fit with theoretical probability distributions. The normal distribution was shown to best describe the overall distribution of GVW. The top 10% of the GVW appeared to best fit by the Weibull 3 probability distribution.

전류인가형 부식 장치 개발

  • 본 연구에서는 교량, 발전소, 산엽체의 시설물 둥 대형 옥외 설치 구조물의 부식방지를 위해, 전류 인가형 부식 방지 장치를 개발하였다. 기존의 전극기판(anode base)은 pve로 만들 어져 있어서, 옥외에 설치된 상태에서 쉽게 열화되어 부스러지며, 비 갠 후 시설물의 일부에 물기가 남아 있는 부식 환경하에서도 플라스틱 기판은 물기가 쉽게 제거되어 이마 건조된 상태가 된다. 이 경우에는 기판을 통해 부식방지 전류를 흐르게 할 수가 없기 때문에 희생 양극의 임무를 수행할 수가 없으며, 시설물이 부식되는 단점이 있다. 본 연구에서 개발한 흡습성 기판은 기존의 pve 기판의 단점을 개선한 것으로, 대기 중에 방치해도 수명이 영구적이며, 다공질이기 때문에 흡습성이 있어서 비 캔 후에도 기판 내부와 표면에 물기가 남아 었다. 따라서, 비 캔 후 부식환경에서도 부식 방지 전류를 흐르게 할 수가 있어서 희생양극의 업무를 수행할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 옥외 구조물에 대한 방식 특성을 평가하기 위하여, 세라믹 기판을 부착하고 전류 측정을 하기 위한 철판(보통탄소강)구조물을 아래와 같이 제작하였다. 구조물의 $가로{\times}세로$ 크기는 $450mm{\times}450mm$ 이며, 구조물의 중앙에 세라믹 또는 pve Anode 기판을 부착 하였다. 살수 후 전류의 측정 위치는 구조물의 Anode 기판 중심에서 100mm 떨어진 지점 4 곳에 부착하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 세라믹 가판의 경우와 기존의 pve 기판의 경우를 비 교 실험한 결과, 전자의 경우는 120분 경과 후에도 $70~80\mu\textrm{A}$의 많은 양의 전류가 흐르는 것으로 밝혀졌으며, 후자의 경우는 120분이 지난 후에는 전류가 전혀 흐르지 않는 것올 알 수 있다. 따라서, 기존의 pve 보다 세라믹 기판의 경우가 수분 흡수율이 높아 더 오랫동안 전류를 흐르게 하여 방식성이 개선된 것으로 판단된다.

Fatigue of SS490A and SS400 Corroded Specimens (SM490A와 SS400 대기부식 시편의 피로 특성 평가)

  • For structural design and diagnosis, quantitative relationship between corrosive degradation and variation of mechanical properties such as tensile strength and fatigue strength is needed. But it is difficult to find experimental data associated with corrosive degradation of structural structures in the literature. In this study, first of all I established the atmospheric corrosion test procedure. And using specimens of SM490A and SS400 on the atmospheric corrosion test bed, I carried out tensile and fatigue tests at regular intervals. And we studied the effect of post-weld heat treatment on the tensile and fatigue behaviour. It is found fatigue strength decreases as the atmospheric corrosion period increases.

An Experimental study on the Thermal Stresses in the Massive Abutment of Bridge (교량교대구조물의 수화열 및 온도응력에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • Recently, the massive concrete structures have been increasingly built in Korea. Many reinforced concrete structures have been reported to suffer from cracking in construction stages due to heat of hydration arising from mass concrete. This cracking may cause some serious durability problems and thus reduces the safety and service life of the structures. In this study, the stresses, strains, and temperatures were measured and the crack widths and crack Patterns were also observed in the footing and abutment structures. And the causes and mechanism in thermal cracking in the footing and abutment structures are thoroughly analysed. The comparisons of test results with analysis have been made. Efficient crack control techniques were developed form the experimental and analytical studies.

Suggestion of Deterioration Curve for New-type Coating on Atmospheric Environment by Acceleration Corrosion Test (부식촉진 실험을 통한 대기환경에서 신설 도장계의 노화곡선 제안)

  • In this study, to propose the deterioration curves of urethane, ceramic, polysiloxane and fluorocarbon coating for the steel bridge, an accelerated corrosion tests were carried out. The each coating system wes applied on the top of the specimens, and circular initial defects were introduced with different diameters with 0.5, 1.0, 3.0, 5.0 mm. An accelerated corrosion test condition was used to simulate severe corrosive environment depending on ISO 20340. The deterioration curve of each coating type was evaluated based on deteriorated area from the circular defects. In order to evaluate the coating service life of installed steel bridge using deterioration curve, the acceleration coefficient was calculated at correlation between ISO 20340 and corrosivity categories by ISO 9223 based on field corrosion rate. From test results, the propagation rate of coating deterioration area was different to diameter of circular defects. In case of urethane coating, the coating service lifes of 3% deterioration area was evaluated in 31.8, 15.8, 9.9 and 3.9 years with C2, C3, C4 and C5 category.

A Study on Control of Sealing Robot for Cracks of Concrete Surface (콘크리트 표면 균열 실링을 위한 로봇의 제어 방법에 관한 연구)

  • Since the crack in the surface of the concrete acts as the main reason influencing the life span of the structure, regular inspections and maintenance are required. The sealing required for maintenance of the concrete surface is a method of repairing the crack in the surface in the beginning, and is effective in preventing additional cracks and expansion that occurs with time. However, sealing on large sized structures such as tall buildings or bottom parts of bridges are difficult to ensure safety of the workers due to inadequate working environments. Due to this reason, the importance of the need for sealing automation for the maintenance of large sized concrete structures is emerging. This study proposes two control methods to apply robot systems to the sealing of cracks on the bottom parts of concrete bridges. First is the method of automatically tracking the trajectory of cracks. The robot gets the trajectory of the cracks using video information obtained from cameras. Comparing the previous several points and new point, the next point can be estimated. Thus, the trajectory of the crack can be tracked automatically. The other method is sealing by maintaining steady force to the contacting surface. The concrete surface exposed to an external environment for a long time gets an irregular roughness. If robots are able to carry out sealing while maintaining a steady contact force on these rough surfaces, complete equal sealing can be maintained. In order to maintain this equal force, a force control method using impedance is proposed. This paper introduces two developed control methods to apply to sealing robots, and conducts a Lab Test and Field Test after applying to a robot. Based on the test results, opinions on the possibilities of field application of the robot applied with the control methods are presented.

A Study on the Application of Non-destructive (Ultrasonic) Inspection Technique to Detect Defects of Anchor Bolts for Road Facilities (도로시설물 적용 앵커볼트 결함 검출을 위한 비파괴(Ultrasonic) 검사 기법 적용에 대한 연구)

  • The general non-destructive inspection method for anchor bolts in Korea applies visual inspection and hammering inspection, but it is difficult to check corrosion or fatigue cracks of anchor bolts in the part included in the foundation or in the part where the nut and base plate are installed. In reality, objective investigation is difficult because inspection is affected by the surrounding environment and individual differences, so it is necessary to develop non-destructive inspection technology that can quantitatively estimate these defects. Inspection of the anchor bolts of domestic road facilities is carried out by visual inspection, and since the importance of anchor bolts such as bridge bearings and fall prevention facilities is high, the life span of bridges is extended through preventive maintenance by developing non-destructive testing technology along with existing inspection methods. Through the development of this technology, non-destructive testing of anchor bolts is performed and as a technology capable of preemptive/active maintenance of anchor bolts for road facilities, practical use is urgently needed. In this paper, the possibility of detecting defects in anchor bolts such as corrosion and cracks and reliability were experimentally verified by applying the ultrasonic test among non-destructive inspection techniques. When the technology development is completed, it is expected that it will be possible to realize preemptive/active maintenance of anchor bolts by securing source technology for improving inspection reliability.

A Temperature Predicting Method for Thermal Behaviour Analysis of Curved Steel Box Girder Bridges (곡선 강박스거더교의 온도거동 분석을 위한 온도분포 예측기법에 관한 연구)

  • Solar radiation induces non-uniform temperature distribution in the bridge structure depending on the shape of the structure and shadows cast on it. Especially in the case of curved steel box girder bridges, non-uniform temperature distribution caused by solar radiation may lead to unusual load effects enough to damage the support or even topple the whole curved bridge structure if not designed properly. At present, it is very difficult to design bridges in relation to solar radiation because it is not known exactly how varying temperature distribution affects bridges; at least not specific enough for adoption in design. Standard regulations related to this matter are likewise not complete. In this study, the thermal behavior of curved steel box girder bridges is analyzed while taking the solar radiation effect into consideration. For the analysis, a method of predicting the 3-dimensional temperature distribution of curved bridges was developed. It uses a theoretical solar radiation energy equation together with a commercial FEM program. The behavior of the curved steel box girder bridges was examined using the developed method, while taking into consideration the diverse range of bridge azimuth angles and radii. This study also provides reference data for the thermal design of curved steel box girder bridges under solar radiation, which can be used to develop design guidelines.
