Analysis of the hydraulic structure of geometric shape according to sediment transportation and bed change characteristic (수공구조물 설치에 따른 유사확산 및 하상변동 특성에 관한 분석)

  • 본 연구에서는 최근까지 유사관측을 수행하고 있는 금강본류 하도구간의 금남$\sim$공주 지점을 대상으로 하였다. 분석을 위하여 이 지점의 총유사량 산정에 영향을 미치는 부유사량 관측 및 수위, 유량과 같은 하천 흐름 등에 관한 과거의 자료를 수집 정리 하였다. 본 연구에서 적용하고자 하는 교량의 교각에 대한 기하학적 형상은 원형, 정사각형, 정팔각형, 장방형으로 하였으며 분석 모형은 SED2D-WES 모형을 이용하여 유역에 대한 교각의 형상이 미치는 영향에 대하여 연구 하였다. 그 결과 지름이 6m, 경간장 57m인 원형교각의 경우 교각에서 약 14.3m 떨어진 곳에서 최고 유속 0.75m/s가 발생되었으며, $6{\sim}6m$의 정사각형교각의 경우 교각으로부터 약 15.8m떨어진 곳에서 0.68m/s의 최대 유속이 발생하고 $6{\sim}6m$ 정팔각형교각의 경우 교각으로부터 약 16.2m떨어진 곳에서 0.65m/s의 최대유속이 발생하고, 마지막으로 $3{\sim}6m$ 장방형교각의 경우 교각으로부터 약 21m 떨어진 구간에서 0.63m/s의 최고 유속이 발생하는 것으로 나타났다. 대상유역의 길이가 길고, 유속이 낮으므로 유출지점까지 흘러내려가는 유사량보다 하천내에 유입된 유사가 그대로 퇴적되는 경우가 많아 24시간 분석결과 하상변동량은 퇴적량과 침식량을 합하여 약 0.22%정도 변동되는 것으로 나타났으며, 교각형상에 따른 하상변동특성으로 원형교각의 경우 세굴이 일어나는 지점은 교각에서 약 16.88m떨어진 지점까지 하상변동이 일어났으며, 정사각형 교각의 경우 교각에서 약 10.96m떨어진 지점까지, 정팔각형 교각의 경우 교각에서 약 6.32m떨어진 지점까지, 장방형 교각의 경우 교각에서 약 18.23m떨어진 지점까지 하상변동이 나타남을 알 수 있었다.

An Experimental Study to Evaluate the Subsidence Stability of Riprap Protection without Filters (필터 없는 사석보호공의 유사이탈로 인한 침하 안정성 평가를 위한 실험 연구)

  • Many countermeasures for local scour at bridge piers constructed on the river and sea have been developed and researched to protect piers against local scour. The most commonly employed method is riprap protection, which is sometimes required the filter installation between riprap and base layers. However, the construction of stone filters are really hard to perform in the field, require the high cost, or sometimes are impossible. The experimental modeling is conducted to analyze the riprap failure modes and the stability of riprap protection without filters based on the different approach velocity and riprap layer thickness conditions. Also, the stability index to evaluate the performance of riprap protection is developed using the experimental results. The cover and thickness of the riprap layer play a very important role in the stability and thicker riprap layers can prevent a total disintegration of the riprap layer effectively, especially due to winnowing failure.

Estimation of Basic Wind Speeds Reflecting Recent Wind Speed Data (최신 풍속자료를 반영한 기본풍속 산정)

  • Recent increase in the strength and frequency of typoons due to climate change claims reconsideration of the design wind load in existing design codes for civil engineering structures in which the basic wind speed is estimated based on meteorological data by mid 1990s. In this paper, based on wind speed data at 76 observatories in Korea from 1961 through 2008, the basic wind speeds which can be utilized in designing civil engineering structures including buildings and bridges are estimated using the statistical process. The return period of the wind speed for each location is determined using the Gumbel distribution. The results for considered locations are compared to the existing design codes. Also, for design applications, the wind speed map, which classifies the country into four basic wind speed zones, is proposed using the resulting basic wind speeds.

  • This research focuses on the issue of seismic retrofit prioritization based on the Caltrans' highway network serving Los Angeles and Orange counties. Retrofit prioritization is one of most important problems in earthquake engineering, and it is a problem that most decision makers face in the process of resource allocation. This study demonstrates the methods of prioritized resource allocation in the process of retrofitting a regional highway network. For the criteria of a retrofit ranking, seismic vulnerability and the importance of network link are first introduced. Subsequently, link-based seismic retrofit cases are simulated, investigating the effects of the seismic retrofit in terms of seismic performance, such as driver's delay. In this study, probabilistic scenario earthquakes are used to perform a probabilistic seismic risk analysis. The results show that the retrofit prioritization can be differently defined and ranked depending on the stakeholders. This study provides general guidelines for prioritization strategy for the effective retrofitting of a highway network system.

A Solution for Reducing Transmission Latency through Distributed Duty Cycling in Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크에서 수신구간 분산 배치를 통한 전송지연 감소 방안)

  • Recently, wireless sensor networks are deployed in various applications range from simple environment monitoring systems to complex systems, which generate large amount of information, like motion monitoring, military, and telematics systems. Although wireless sensor network nodes are operated with low-power 8bit processor to execute simple tasks like environment monitoring, the nodes in these complex systems have to execute more difficult tasks. Generally, MAC protocols for wireless sensor networks attempt to reduce the energy consumption using duty cycling mechanism which means the nodes periodically sleep and wake. However, in the duty cycling mechanism. a node should wait until the target node wakes and the sleep latency increases as the number of hops increases. This sleep latency can be serious problem in complex and sensitive systems which require high speed data transfer like military, wing of airplane, and telematics. In this paper, we propose a solution for reducing transmission latency through distributed duty cycling (DDC) in wireless sensor networks. The proposed algorithm is evaluated with real-deployment experiments using CC2420DBK and the experiment results show that the DDC algorithm reduces the transmission latency significantly and reduces also the energy consumption.

Prediction of Cutting Stress by 2D and 3D-FEM Analysis and Its Accuracy (2차원과 3차원 FEM 해석에 의한 절단응력의 해석 및 정도)

  • Steel bridges, which have been damaged by load and corrosion, need repair or strengthening. In general, before the repair welding procedure, cutting procedure carry out. Therefore, the investigating of the behavior of stress generated by cutting is so important for safety of structure. Residual stress produced by gas cutting was analyzed using 2D and 3D thermal elasto plastic FEM. According to the results, the magnitude of temperature was analyzed by 2D FEM is smaller than that was analyzed using the 3D FEM program at the start and end edge of flange. And the magnitude and distribution of residual stress of perpendicular to the cutting line was analyzed by the 2D FEM program was similar to that was analyzed by the 3D FEM program. Therefore, it is possible to predict of cutting stress by 2D and 3D FEM.

Analysis For Effective Moment For Iinertia For Corrugated Steel-Concrete Composite Deck with I-beam Welded (교량용 I형강 접합 절곡강합성 바닥판의 휨강성 분석)

  • Corrugated steel-concrete composite deck with I-beam welded is lighter and has higher load carrying capacity than RC slabs due to an I-beam embedded in the corrugated deck. The methods suggested from ACI and design standard of roadway bridge are used to evaluate effective moment inertia of RC structures. This paper presents evaluation and application of effective moment inertia for corrugated steel-concrete composite deck with I-beam welded by using the methods suggested from design standard of roadway bridge, ACI and CEB-FIP MC-90. In order to evaluate effective moment inertia, a series of flexural experiments were carried out. Five beams were built and the parameters considered in the experiments were studs, shape of the sections and connections of the beams. By using the aforementioned methods, effective moments of inertia was calculated and they were compared with the experimental results. As a result, The method suggested from CEB-FIP MC-90 yielded more satisfactory agreement than that from ACI. It was found that the beam has studs showed high load-carrying capacity and high effective moment of inertia.

  • Lightweight concrete is known for its advantage of reducing the self-weight of the structures, reducing the areas of sectional members as well as making the construction convenient. Thus the construction cost can be saved when applied to structures such as long-span bridge and high rise building. However, the lightweight concrete requires specific mix design method that is quite different from the typical concrete, since using the typical mix method would give rise the material segregation as well as lower the strength by the reduced weight of the aggregate. In order to avoid such problems, it is recommended to apply the mix design method of self-consolidating concrete for the lightweight concrete. Therefore experimental tests were performed as such mechanical properties(compressive strength, dry density and structural efficiency) of concrete and dry shrinkage according to ACI committee 209.

  • Prestressed composite girder with concrete infilled steel tubes(PSC-CFT girder) is new type of bridge girder which enhances the resisting capacities due to the double composite action of PSC composite girder and concrete infilled tube. The flexural behaviors of PSC-CFT girder in the positive moment regions are investigated based on the experimental observations recently performed on two of 4.4m long specimens. The mechanical and structural roles and failure mechanism of the composite action are discussed through comparing the test results with those numerically predicted by the three methods of one- and three-dimensional nonlinear finite element analyses, and section analysis method.

Behavior of Steel-Concrete Composite Decks for PSC Girder Bridge with Various Shear Span Lengths (전단 지간의 변화에 따른 PSC 거더용 강-콘크리트 합성 바닥판의 역학적 거동)

  • Recently, steel-concrete composite structures are widely used in bridge and building constructions. In this paper, a new type of steel-concrete composite deck with profiled steel sheeting is proposed to replace the conventional cast-in-place reinforced concrete deck. Perfobond rib shear connectors were utilized to provide horizontal shear resistance between the profiled sheeting and the concrete. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed deck system, 8 full-scale deck specimens for PSC girder bridge were fabricated. The specimens were tested with four different shear span lengths to determine the horizontal shear resistance of the deck under a static monotonic loading. For comparison purpose, two reinforced concrete decks were also fabricated and tested. The horizontal shear resistance of the proposed deck system was calculated using the m-k method.
