Generally, asset management procedure consists of exact information collection, decision of service level, analysis of aspiration level, analysis of financial condition and available budget, preparation of asset management plan, and value of modified asset. In this study, for the risk-based asset management, condition assessment and performance measuring, assessment of failure modes and risks, evaluation/selection of treatment options, and implementation of optimum solution are additionally included. For this, bridge inventory and performance measure considering risks are classified and method of quantitative/qualitative performance measure is suggested. Also, evaluation method of risk analysis for bridge asset management is suggested and basic research is carried out for applicable method of risk-based asset management. Using suggested risk procedure and method of risk-based bridge service level evaluation, it is possible to perform resonable asset management. Moreover, it is concluded that the proposed applicable method of risk-based asset management will provide a solution to contribute the development of systematical asset management for optimal decision making and prototype asset management system.
The construction of highway bridges is almost complete in many countries including the United States. The government and highway agencies change the focus from constructing to maintaining To maintain the bridges effectively there is an urgent need to assess actual bridge loading carrying capacity and to predict their remaining life. The system reliability techniques have to be used for this purpose. Based on lifetime distribution (function) techniques this study illustrates how typical highway bridges can be modeled to predict their remaining life. The parameters of lifetime distribution are generated by Monte. The results can be used for optimization of planning interventions on existing bridges.
Using a 5 year(2003 to 2007) pavement condition survey data from the highway pavement management system(HPMS), the roughness of the bridge deck pavement was analyzed. Based on the result of this analysis, this study tried to identify the factors affecting the deterioration of the bridge deck pavement condition. The data from HPMS indicates that the roughness of the bridge deck pavement is worse than that of the general pavement on the roadbed. The worse roughness of the bridge deck pavement is caused by the settlement of approach slab as well as the surface distress on the bridge deck pavement. In order to improve effectively the roughness of the bridge deck pavement, a management system was established in which not only the regular automated pavement condition survey to check the distress of surface of the bridge deck pavement was adopted but an automated surface profiler to check the degree of settlement of approach slab was applied.

In case of damaged timber sleepers, maintenance is carried out according to the track inspection standard. However, it is difficult to detect the extent of damage on the bridge, and maintenance is depended on inspector's judgment. In this study, we propose to improve the evaluation criterion of timber sleepers for the ballast-less tracks on serviced urban railway bridge. The timber sleepers on railway bridge was classified according to degree of damage, and damage scores were calculated for each damage grade. Also we have improved the maintenance system of the timber sleepers through the history management system of the individual timber sleepers on railway bridge. As a results, it was judged that systematic management of timber sleepers could be possible during maintenance.

The IoT-based sensor network is one of the methods that can be efficiently applied to maintain the facilities, such as bridges, at a low cost. In this study, based on LoRa LPWAN, one of the IoT communications, sensor board for cable tension monitoring, data acquisition board for constructing sensor network along with existing measurement sensors, are developed to create bridge structural health monitoring system. In addition, we designed and manufactured a smart sensor node for LoRa communication and established a sensor network for monitoring. Further, we constructed a test bed at the Yeonggwang Bridge to verify the performance of the system. The test bed verification results suggested that the LoRa LPWAN-based sensor network can be applied as one of the technologies for monitoring the bridge structure soundness; this is excellent in terms of data rate, accuracy, and economy.

Performance Profiles are essential to predict the performance variation over time for the bridge management system (BMS) based on risk management. In general, condition profiles based on experts opinion and/or visual inspection records have been used widely because obtaining profiles based on real performance is not easy. However, those condition profiles usually don't give a good consistency to the safety of bridges, causing practical problems for the effective bridge management. The accuracy of performance evaluation is directly related to the accuracy of BMS. The reliability of the evaluation is important to produce the optimal solution for distributing maintenance budget reasonably. However, conventional methods of bridge assessment are not suitable for a more sophisticated decision making procedure. In this study, a method to compute quantitative performance profiles has been proposed to overcome the limitations of those conventional models. In Bridge Management Systems, the main role of performance profiles is to compute and predict the performance of bridges subject to lifetime activities with uncertainty. Therefore, the computation time for obtaining an optimal maintenance scenario is closely related to the efficiency of the performance profile. In this study, the Response Surface Method (RSM) based on independent and important design variables is developed for the rapid computation. Steel box bridges have been investigated because the number of independent design variables can be reduced significantly due to the high dependency between design variables.

The hybrid simulation test method is a versatile technique for evaluating the seismic performance of structures by seamlessly integrating both physical and numerical simulations of substructures into a single test mode. In this paper, a software framework that integrates computational and experimental simulation has been developed to simulate and test a bridge structural system under earthquake loading. Using hybrid simulation, the seismic response of complex bridge structural systems partitioned into multiple large-scale experimental and computational substructures at networked distributed experimental and computational facilities can be evaluated. In this paper, the examples of application are presented in terms of a bridge model with soil-foundation-structure interaction.

LoRa LPWAN network system uses a license-exempt wireless communication system and implements data measurement through the integrated sensor based on Mems and wireless communication of existing measurement sensors. This system has superior technological / economic superiority using existing network and long distance communication compared to existing wireless measurement system, and secured economical efficiency by minimizing system construction equipment compared to wired measurement system. It is confirmed that the economical efficiency can be reduced by 41% compared to the conventional wired metering system. Since the LoRa LPWAN network system is excellent in terms of maintenance and operation, if installed in many bridges in Korea in the future, it will be developed as an excellent system in the maintenance of bridges. Etc.), and plant field (fire safety, etc.).
