A linear stability analysis of a diffusion flame with radiation heat loss is performed to identify linearly unstable conditions for the Damk$\ddot{o}$hler number and radiation intensity. We adopt a counterflow diffusion flame with unity Lewis number as a model. Near the kinetic limit extinction regime, the growth rates of disturbances always have real eigenvalues, and a neutral stability condition perfectly falls into the quasi-steady extinction. However, near the radiative limit extinction regime, the eigenvalues are complex, which implies pulsating instability. A stable limit cycle occurs when the temperatures of the pulsating flame exceed the maximum temperature of the steady-state flame with real positive eigenvalues. If the instantaneous temperature of the pulsating flame is below the maximum temperature, the flame cannot recover and goes to extinction. The neutral stability curve of the radiation-induced instability is plotted over a broad range of radiation intensities.
In the working stress conditions, the strain level in a soil mass experienced by existing structures and during construction is less than about 0.1-1%. In order to analyse the deformational behavior accurately, the in-situ testing technique which provides the reliable deformational characteristics at small strains, needs to be developed. The purpose of this paper is to measure the small-strain shear modulus of soils by using pressuremeter test(PMT). PMT is a unique method for assessing directly the in-situ shear modulus of soils with strain amplitude. For the accurate small strain measurements without initial disturbance effect, the unloading-reloading cycle was used and the measured modulus was corrected in view of the relevant stress and strain levels around the PMT probe during testing. Not only in the calibration chamber but in the field, PMT tests were performed on the cohesionless soils. The variation in shear modulus with strain amplitude ranging from 10-2% to 0.5% was reliably determined by PMT PMT results were also compared with other in-situ and laboratory test results. Moduli obtained from different testing techniques matched very well if the effect of strain amplitude was considered in the com pall son.

Geotechnical design routinely requires that in-situ strength, stiffness of the ground be determined. In the working stress conditions, the strain level in a ground experienced by existing structures and during construction is less than about 0.1%~1%. In order to analyze the deformational behavior accurately, the in-situ testing technique which provides the reliable deformational characteristics at small strains, needs to be developed. Cone pressuremeter tests were performed on the western off-shore region of korea, and analyzed using cavity expansion theory and curve fitting technique to obtain the shear modulus at small strain level of $10^{-1}%$. The value of $E_u/S_u$ ratio for the marine clay shows about 589 at the small strain. However the value of $E_u/S_u$ estimated by lab tests are much smaller values ranged from 81 to 91. It is indicated that the curve fitting technique from CPM tests results can be used to obtain the shear modulus at small strain.

The method using Rankine Soure distribution over the hull surface and undisturbed free surface was applied to calculate the free surface flow around a ship. The ship hull as well as a local portion of the undisturbed free surface arc geometrically represented by quadrilateral panels and the source density is determined so as to satisfy the linearized free surface condition based on the double model flow. The pressure distribution, wave resistance, wave profile and hydrodynamic sinkage force and trim moment for the Wigley hull and the Series 60 hull with $C_B=0.60$ were calculated in the fixed condition. The calculated results were compared with the measured values. The dependance of the solution on the panel arrangement, particularly on the free suraface, was also studied through 11 numerical test cases for the Wigley hull.

Various studies such as INS(: Inertial Navigation System) are conducting to estimate the position of UAV, because the GPS information of UAV is at risk like the GPS jamming. The position estimation using DoA and RTT are used to apply many radar systems, and that process can be applied in datalink of UAV. The general monopulse feed in UAV datalink is Multi-horn, because of the wide BW(: Band Width) and frequency range. And it needs wide SNR range of tracking because of the limited transmit power of airborne unit. The estimation error of position increase at low SNR, and the DoA is valid in only 3dB beam width but high SNR causes false of mainlobe detection because of large sidelobe. In this paper, We propose the method to achieve higher accuracy of DoA estimation on low SNR and review some idea that able to detect mainlobe.

An Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler(ADCP) measures the current velocity and analyzes the degree of turbulence using Doppler effects of ultrasonic waves. Therefore, the autocorrelation or FFT spectrum estimates are obtained for extraction of current velocity in each spatial region. However, if the correlation method does not satisfy the assumption that the return signal spectra are symmetric Gaussian, the large bias errors can occur. Also, the accurate estimation of autocorrelation or FFT spectrum is difficult due to the short acquisition interval when the rapid changes of current velocity occur. Thus, in this paper, the estimation method of the autoregressive spectrum peak is suggested for the accurate current velocity measurement of both symmetric and asymmetric spectra. It is shown that estimation quality can be improved using the suggested method comparing with the conventional methods. Many return signals under the various environment are simulated and the results are compared and analyzed for evaluation of the suggested method.

Numerical solutions are presented for solving the free surface flow created by a three-dimensional body moving beneath the free surface with constant velocity at an angle of attack. The solution is obtained using a panel method based on the perturbation potential, which employs Havelock sources and normal dipoles distributed on the body surface and Havelock normal dipoles in the wake downstream of the trailing edge. A pressure Kutta condition with an iterative solution procedure is implemented to satisfy equal pressure condition on the upper and lower surfaces at the trailing edge. Numerical calculation examples in the present paper include an ellipsoid at zero angle of attack, a rectangular planform wing at a small angle of attack in the limit of zero Froude number and then free surface flows and hydrodynamic forces acting on the submerged spheroid and parabolic strut are calculated. Discussions are made about the validity of the present method.

The aeroelastic characteristics of a wing with control surface freeplay are investigated. The transonic small disturbance equation is used for unsteady aerodynamic forces in subsonic/transonic region. The fictitious mass method is introduced to apply a modal approach to nonlinear structural models. Nonlinear aeroelastic time responses are calculated by the coupled time integration method. Using these methods, an efficient aeroelastic analysis is achieved for aerodynamic and structural nonlinearities simultaneously. The effects of the aerodynamic nonlinearity, initial flap amplitude, and freeplay magnitude in aeroelastic characteristics are investigated in this study.
The aim of this study is to investigate the factors affecting the habitat characteristics of largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides), which is one of exotic fishes in Korea. Based on field observation, the laboratory experiments were performed in order to investigate the relationship between water temperature and the habitat characteristics of largemouth bass. It was found that largemouth bass preferred a relatively high water temperature in winter and a low temperature in summer. When the small largemouth bass coexisted with large largemouth bass, the separation of habitats depending on the size of each largemouth bass are observed. In the separated habitat areas, it is also observed that the largemouth bass preferred vicinity of the obstacle such as boulder. From the experiments for preference between water temperature and obstacle, it was observed that a primary consideration in habitat selection was obstacles. It was also observed that when light device was turned on, largemouth bass formed a new habitat.
The oedometer, radial CRS and Rowe cell tests, composite discharge capacity tests and smear effect tests are carried out to estimate the parameters for the reliability-based design of vertical drain method. Also the sensitivity analysis, the probabilistic and deterministic solutions of radial consolidation theory are presented. The result of probabilistic analysis was compared to that of deterministic analysis using the tested and estimated parameters. The results indicated that the drain spacing in the deterministic method is larger than that in the probabilistic method because the former does not consider the uncertainties in the geotechnical property. The divergence of two methods is dependent on the probability of achieving target degree of consolidation by a given time and the coefficient of variation (COV) of the coefficient of horizontal consolidation ($c_h$).
