Optical Design of Gradient-Index Objective for Optical Pickup (광 Pickup 용 Gradient-Index 대물렌즈 설계)

  • High NA objective design by using SELFOC materials was studied, and two kinds of objective for optical pick-up were designed. The SELFOC materials have radial gradient index distribution, and it gives additional degree of freedom in optical design. Therefore, we expect that optical design of high NA objective without aspheric surface will be possible. In this study, the variation of ms spot diameter was investigated as a function of quadratic constant and refractive index on axis for various combinations of axial thickness and entrance pupil diameter. For the survey, Code V was used for optimization and evaluation of the objective lenses. The result suggested that larger quadratic constant and higher refractive index on axis could give us better imaging performance for all combinations of axial thickness and pupil diameter. Based on the survey, we designed high NA objectives for DVR. There were two kinds of design solution consisting two spherical SELFOC lenses. The solution I had positive-positive lens configuration with short over-all-length, but it had poor off-axial performance compared with the solution II. The solution II had negative-positive lens configuration with good off-axial imaging performance. But the solution II had some disadvantages, long over-all-length and large diameter of the second lens.

  • Czochralski 방법에 의해 육성된 Nd:YAG 단결정으로부터 CW mode의 1064nm laser를 발진시켰다. 육성된 단결정은 직경 50mm, 길이 120mm 이었으며, Nd 이온 농도는 O.2~0.9at% 이었다. 육성된 단결정 boule로 부터 결정학적 결함부위인 core 및 facet가 없는 양질의 단결정 부위를 Twyman-Green interferometer로 선빌하였다. 추출핀 부위는 절단, 가공, 연마공정 및 코팅 공정을 통해 직경 6.35mm, 길이 lOOmm의 laser rod를 제작하였다. 절단은 core drill, 또는 원통 연삭기를 사용하여 rod 형태로 가공하였으며, 상$\cdot$하면 polishing은 평행도 10", 직각도 5', 평활도 $\lambda$/10 수준까지 실험실에서 자체 가공하여 일반적인 laser 발진용 rod의 spec.을 만족시킬 수 있었다.

  • The autotstigmatic null lens system is designed and constructed for the fabrication of a parabolic mirror with the diameter of 450 mm(f/2.7). And the measurement reliability is also analyzed theoretically by means of the tolerancing technique using lens design software(CODE V). From this analysis, we can precisely fabricate a parabolic mirror with the large diameter of 450 mm(f/2.7). Meanwhile, in order to confirm the fabrication results by the autostigmatic method, the mirror surface is tested again by an autocollimating method that uses only a plane mirror without any null lens.

Ablation Depth of Cornea and Munnerlyn Formula in Refractive Keratectomy (각막굴절교정절제술에서 각막의 절제 깊이와 Munnerlyn 식)

  • Ablation depth of cornea in refractive keratectomy was calculated by Munnerlyn formula. The calculations were preformed for various optical diameter (4 mm~8 mm) and various amount of corrections (-1 Dptr ~ -12 Dptr). The results to be compared with the Munnerlyn approximated formula had little effect within lower corrections, but in higher corrections > 6 Dptr can be occurred the error of 1 Dptr. Although ablation depth were evaluated, the results were only calculated by mathematical model of geometric assumptions. Because ablation depth can vary with operation conditions, the correction factor should be considered not only ablation depth by Munnerlyn formula but also surgeon-specific factor.

Optical Design of a Zoom Eyepiece (Zoom접안경에 대한 광설계)

  • By Gaussian optics, a zoom eyepiece is analyzed, which has the diameter of exit pupil 0.5 em, eyerelief 1 em, and angular magnification $M_a=7~15$. The initial design is based on this analysis. Telescope objective which was previously designed has focal length($(f_u')$ 21.0 em, and its clear aperture is 6.2 em. Zoom telescope has half field angle $\beta=1.5^{\circ}$ at the entrance pupil and at exit pupil it is $\beta'=1.5^{\circ}\times(7~15)=10.5^{\circ}~22.5^{\circ}$. Zoom eyepiece consists of three groups, of which each one satisfies the Seidel 3,d order aplanatization. Final design is obtained by optimization for the finite ray aberration, and the zoom eyepiece is assessed on the basis of the resolution of eyes.f eyes.

Assembly of diameter 300 mm optical beam director (직경 300 mm 광집속장치의 광학정렬)

  • We assembled the optical beam director with diameter 300 mm. This consists of primary, secondary mirrors and 5 folding mirrors. Among them, the primary mirror is the most important component so that we measure any possible deformation on it at every step of assembly. Also, we developed the systematic alignment algorithm, which is essential because the number of mirrors is 7. The final wavefront error of the system is 1.9 wave rms (wave=633 nm) which is 7 times larger than we expected. The main source is the deformation of the 131ding mirrors. We expect that what we have learned from the assembly of this system would be helpful when we deal with a larger system in the future.

  • The collimator is necessary for the assembly and evaluation of high resolution satellite telescope. Traditionally, the off-axis paraboloid has been used as a collimator. However, it has some disadvantages in that it can suffer from air turbulence when the focal length of a collimator is long, which may result in some error in the measurement. In contrast, since the Cassegrain type collimator folds the beam, it occupies smaller space compared to the off-axis paraboloid for the same focal length. This can reduce the air turbulence, which can improve the measurement accuracy. In this paper, we explain the process of design and manufacturing of a diameter 450 mm Cassegrain type collimator, to evaluate the diameter 300 mm satellite telescope. After assembly of primary and secondary mirrors, the final wavefront error of the collimator was 0.07λ(λ=633 nm), which is the diffraction limit.

  • 주파수 무선센서에 의한 자동직경제어방식으로 쵸크랄스키법에 의해 Bi4Ge3O12 단결정을 육성하였다. Bi4Ge3O12의 화학양론적 조성으로부터 Bi2O3와 GeO2의 조성비를 변화시키면서 단결정을 육성하였다. 광학적인 투과도 조사결과, 화학양론적 조성에서 가장 우수한 투과도를 나타내었고 과잉의 Bi2O3에서는 투과도가 현저히 낮아졌다. 또한 육성된 단결정의 결함밀도는 ∼1×103/cm2이었다.

  • 1 GW급 옥소레이저를 직경과 깊이가 각각 0.5 mm에서 1.5 mm 사이에 있는 12 종류의 몰리브덴(Mo, Z=42) 홈 표적에 집속시켜서 발생하는 X-선의 세기를 측정하였다. 이때의 X-선 세기를 평면 표적의 경우와 비교하여 홈 표적에서의 효과를 조사하였다. X-선의 세기는 20 A 이하의 단파장을 통과시키는 필터뒤에 X-선 두어 측정하였으며 홈 표적에서의 X-선 세기는 평면 표적의 약 2 배가 됨을 보았다. 이 결과는 홈 표적에서의 플라즈마 감금효과에 의해 정성적으로ㅅ 성명 되었다.
