  • 파장분할 다중 광전송 시스템으로의 적용을 위한 홀로그래픽 다채널 역다중화기를 제안하고, 소자 특성에 대한 이론적 예측 및 실험결과를 제시하였다. LiNbO3:Fe 결정에 다중 홀로그래픽 부피 격자채널을 기록하기 위해 각도 다중 기록 및 노출시간 계획을 적용하였으며, 노출시간 계획에 recycling 기법을 적용해 각 채널의 균일도를 향상시켰다. 본 논문에서 제안한 방식을 실험적으로 입증하기 위해 1590nm 파장영역에서 0.8nm 채널 간격을 갖는 8채널 역다중화기를 설계하고 해석하였으며, 실험결과 각 채널은 0.8∼0.92%의 회절효율, 0.38∼0.45nm의 3dB 통과대역, 0.7∼0.89nm의 채널간격 및 -26.98dB 이상의 채널 누화 억제 특성을 관찰하였다.

  • 이동통신망에서 RF 신호를 송수신하는 기지국(base station)과 이동 통신 신호의 교환 전송을 담당하는 중앙국(central station)을 광섬유로 연결하여 구성하는 SCM (Subcarrier Multiplexing) 전송 시스템은 미래의 음성, 영상, 데이터 서비스 등의 이동통신 시스템에 적용할 수 있기 때문에 최근 관심사가 커지고 있다. 이동통신망을 위한 SCM 광전송 시스템의 유용성에도 불구하고, CDMA RF 신호를 전송하는 과정에서 많은 물리적인 제약이 있다. 특히, 많은 가입자의 CDMA RF 신호가 하나의 레이저 다이오드(LD: Laser Diode)를 구동시킬 때, RF 신호의 합이 레이저 다이오드의 선형영역을 벗어나면 클리핑(clipping)이나 비선형 왜곡이 발생하여 시스템의 성능을 저하시키게 된다. 본 논문에서는 CDMA RF 신호의 SCM 광전송 성능분석을 통해 레이저 다이오드에 의해 발생하는 비선형 왜곡의 영향을 분석하고, 분석 결과로부터 레이저 다이오드에 의한 비선형 효과를 최소화 할 수 있는 비선형 왜곡 보상구조를 제안하였다. 또한 제안된 레이저 다이오드 비선형 보상기의 성능을 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통해 얻어진 BER로부터 측정하였다.

  • We have experimentally investigated the fiber four-wave mixing effect on equal spaced multichannel optical transmission system with dispersion shifted fiber. To reduce the fiber four-wave mixing effect, we set the polarization states of the adjacent channels to be orthogonal each other by using polarization controller. In this case, we can reduce the transmission power penalty by 1.5 dB compared with that of equal polarization states.

  • We have flattened the gain of EDFA by using a long-period FBG filter and AOTF's. The gain and optical SNR characteristics of the gain-flattened EDFA in long-haul transmission been evaluated in a recirculating EDFA loop. The gain variation was less than 4.6 dB and the optical SNR was higher than 14 dB over 20-nm wavelength range when the optical signal went through the EDFA as many as 200 times. These results indicate that this gain-flattened EDFA is applicable for ultra long-haul WDM optical transmissions over 8000 km.

  • The compensation characteristics are investigated as a function of the deviation of residual dispersion per span (RDPS) in the optical transmission links with a randomly distributed RDPS and optical phase conjugation (OPC). The simulation results show that the effective launch power are more increased and the effective net residual dispersions (NRDs) are more increased, as the deviation of RDPS is more narrow.

  • In this paper, dispersion-managed optimal link configuration with the growth/decay distribution of accumlative dispersion as the fiber span is increased, in which optical phase conjugator placed at midway, is proposed. It is confirmed that if net residual dispersion set to be -15 ps/nm or 15 ps/nm in the proposed optical link configuration, the best compensation of the distorted wavelength division multiplexed channels will be obtained.

  • In this paper, dispersion-managed optimal link configuration with the repetitive distribution of the pairs of residual dispersion per span, in which optical phase conjugator placed at midway, is proposed. It is confirmed that the proposed optical link configuration is better than the conventional dispersion-managed link for the performance improvement of wavelength division multiplexed channels.
