청각시스템의 저전력 및 가격의 저렴화를 위해 달팽이관의 BM(Basilar Membrain)모델을 아날로그 VLSI 마이크로 파워 공정으로 구현하고 있다. Lyon and Mead는 실리론 공정으로 달팽이관 모델을 효과적으로 구현하였다. 이는 단순 직렬 연결된 구조로 각 채널의 지연시간의 차이로 인해 인식율이 떨어질 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 소리의 주파수 정보 추출기능을 하는 직렬 연결된 트리구조(TSBF:Tree-structured Cascaded Bandpass Filter)의 16채널의 아날로그 중간대역통과 필터회로를 CMOS VLSI 공정을 이용하여 설계하였다. 직렬 연결된 저대역통과필터와 고대역통과필터로 각 채널의 중간대역통과 필터를 구현하였다. 이러한 구조에서는 각 채널의 지연시간이 동일하므로 인식율을 높일 수 있다. 그리고 고대역통과필터를 1-poly 디지털 공정으로 구현 가능하고 기생 캐패시터의 영향을 적게 받는 구조로 설계하였다.

Some anti-dementia, cardiovascular and antioxidant functionalities of Korean traditional alcoholic beverages were characterized. Anti-dementia acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activities were generally not detected or low except BHS-ju (19.5%) and buthyrylcholinesterase inhibitory activities were also show below 1.0%. However, $\beta$-Secretase inhibitory activities were high in PMR-ju (42.5%), WJY-ju (41.6%) and SSJ-ju (42.9%). Antihypertensive angiotensin I-converting enzyme inhibitory activities was the highest in YON-ju (85.6%), however fibrinolytic activities were not detected in all traditional alcohol beverages. Furthermore, antioxidant activities were very high in SBB-ju (72.2%) and GMB-ju (67.9%), however SOD like activities generally were show below 20%.

The aim of this study was to examine the effects of 10 week onion extract supplementation on blood lipid profiles in borderline hypercholesterolemic participants. The study consisted of 10 males and 17 females aged $45.9{\pm}10.0$ years. At baseline, serum total cholesterol level was $228.6{\pm}4.1$ mg/dL (201~239 mg/dL). This study was designed as randomized single blind placebo controlled cross-over study. After 1 week wash-out period, subjects were randomized into two groups; they took onion extract (150 mL/1 pack, containing 30 mg quercetin) or placebo for 10 weeks. After 1 week wash-out period again, subjects took exchanged samples for another 10 weeks. The total-cholesterol ($226.7{\pm}4.6{\rightarrow}206.8{\pm}3.6$ mg/dL; p<0.01), LDL-cholesterol ($151.6{\pm}5.0{\rightarrow}127.1{\pm}4.1$ mg/dL; p<0.01) and atherogenic index (AI: $4.0{\pm}0.3{\rightarrow}3.4{\pm}0.2$; p<0.05) decreased significantly after 10 weeks of onion extracts supplementation, while there were no significant changes during placebo periods. The levels of HDL-cholesterol (onion extract: $46.5{\pm}2.0{\rightarrow}50.2{\pm}2.1$ mg/dL, placebo: $47.8{\pm}2.1{\rightarrow}50.1{\pm}2.4$ mg/dL), GOT (onion extract: $36.8{\pm}1.8{\rightarrow}32.3{\pm}1.8$ IU/L, placebo: $35.1{\pm}2.1{\rightarrow}32.8{\pm}2.0$ IU/L), and GPT (onion extract: $36.5{\pm}3.2{\rightarrow}32.9{\pm}1.8$ IU/L, placebo: $36.6{\pm}3.8{\rightarrow}33.8{\pm}2.8$ IU/L) showed no significant changes in both periods. These results indicate that the consumption of onion concentrated extracts exerts beneficial effects on dyslipidemia through the decrease of serum total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels in borderline hypercholestrolemic subjects. In conclusion, onion was useful as dietary therapy for hypercholestrolemia and adequate onion intake may help to prevent cardiovascular disease.

The goal of this study was to identify new bioactive peptides in extracts derived from Tenebrio molitor (T. molitor) larvae for the development of functional foods. After extraction from freeze-dried T. molitor larvae with various solvents on time course, the extracts showed the highest 2,2,1-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging activity at 5 and 10 hr per total protein and solid contents, respectively. When the water extract was fractionated, a high methanol concentration led to a reduced level of high-molecular-weight proteins in the centrifugal supernatant, whereas increased DPPH activity in the supernatants suggests low-molecular-weight peptides may mediate antioxidant activity in the supernatant. Most of the organic solvent partitions, excluding butanol, showed similar activities in the water phases, and the organic solvent partition fraction exhibited a 28~44% decrease in activity following heat treatment, implying that some components in the fraction become unstable in the presence of heat. The addition of proteinase K to the water extract increased DPPH activity by 10~20%, suggesting that peptides, when released from total proteins, partially increase antioxidant activity. Therefore, we suggest that the antioxidants in T. molitor larval extracts make them a potential source of functional animal food.
