  • This paper proposed the implementation of haptic-based robot which is following a human by using fundamental sensors on robot arms without additional sensors. Joints in the robot arms have several motors, and their angles can be read out by these motors when a human pushes or pulls the robot arms. So these arms can be used as haptic sensors. The implemented robot follows a human by interacting with robot arms and human hands, as a human follows a human by hands.

Robust Walking Algorithm of Biped Robot on Uneven Terrain (비평탄 지형에서 이족로봇의 강인한 보행 알고리즘)

  • Biped robot with high DOF has instability in mechanism. Therefore, it is important to guarantee walking stability of biped robot. Biped robot can stably walk on the flat ground using static walking patterns. However, walking stability of robot becomes increasingly worse on the uneven terrain. In the paper, we propose a robust walking algorithm of biped robot with motion stabilization to solve the problem The proposed algorithm was designed to stabilize walking motions based on the inclination of robot body using a gyro sensor and a accelerometer equipped in the center of the upper body. If unstable motions are recognized, angles of each joints are modified to increase stability by using compensation of angles of lower legs. The experimental results show that biped robot performs stable walking on the uneven terrain.

  • In this paper, we proposed how to estimate the walking state in the knee disarticulation prosthesis's knee angle control. In control of the knee disarticulation prosthesis, we can estimate walking state that measurement of knee angle using absolute encoder and measurement of load on the soles using strain gage. We suggested a method of estimating the current walking states which can be divided into four cases and showed the effectiveness of the method via a series of experiments.

Study of Computed Tomography Reconstruction Angle of Bony Stenosis of the Cervical Foramen (경추 신경공 골성 협착에서 CT 재구성 각도 연구)

  • This study is an image reconstruction method after cervical CT scan. According to the oblique coronal reconstruction angle, i would like to suggest the reconstruction angle that can best express neural foraminal bony stricture. The angle created by drawing a line passing through the center of the spinal cord in the midsagittal plane of the cervical spine and the uncovertebral joint was measured. A line passing through the center of the spinal cord was drawn from the neural foramen, and the angle formed with the midsagittal plane was measured and compared. At the C4-5 level, the average was 9.2°, at the C5-6 level, the average was 9.9°, and at the C6-7 level, the average was 8.4°, the neural foraminal angle was measured to be larger than the uncovertebral joint angle. There was a statistically significant difference in mean (p<0.01). Also, it was found that the angle increased toward the lower cervical vertebrae. The angle between the neural foramen of the lower cervical vertebrae (C5-6, C6-7) and the center of the spinal cord is between 55 and 60°. Here, if the oblique coronal image is reconstructed to be 90°, the degree of neural foramen stenosis can be observed well. Because it is an image reconstruction using a conventional CT scan image, it does not receive additional radiation exposure. It is of great significance in diagnosing cervical neural foramen bony stenosis.

The Effects of Leg Raising with Voluntory Lumbo-pelvic Contraction on Abdominal Muscle Activation (허리 골반의 수의적 조절을 병행한 다리 들기가 배근육 활성에 미치는 영향)

  • 연구목적: 본 연구는 허리 골반의 수의적 조절을 동반한 다리 들기 운동이 배 근육에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 엉덩 관절의 벌림 각도에 따라 다리 들기 시 배근육의 활성도를 확인하였다. 연구방법: 20대 정상성인을 대상으로 엉덩 관절 벌림각도($0^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$)에서 압력 센서 사용 그룹과 사용하지 않는 그룹으로 나우어 다리 들기를 실시하는 동안 복부 근육의 근활성도를 측정하였다. 연구결과: 엉덩 관절 벌림 $0^{\circ}$$30^{\circ}$ 모두에서 오른쪽 다리를 들어 올리는 동안 반대측 내복사근과 동측 외복사근에서 수의적 조절을 한 그룹과 하지 않은 그룹 사이에 통계적인 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<.05). 결론: 허리 골반의 수의적 조절을 통한 다리 들기 시 몸통 안정성의 증가를 통하여 안정적인 배 근육 강화 훈련을 수행 할 수 있을 것으로 생각되며 요통 환자에게도 안정적인 임상적용이 기대된다.

Stabilized 3D Pose Estimation of 3D Volumetric Sequence Using 360° Multi-view Projection (360° 다시점 투영을 이용한 3D 볼류메트릭 시퀀스의 안정적인 3차원 자세 추정)

  • In this paper, we propose a method to stabilize the 3D pose estimation result of a 3D volumetric data sequence by matching the pose estimation results from multi-view. Draw a circle centered on the volumetric model and project the model from the viewpoint at regular intervals. After performing Openpose 2D pose estimation on the projected 2D image, the 2D joint is matched to localize the 3D joint position. The tremor of 3D joints sequence according to the angular spacing was quantified and expressed in graphs, and the minimum conditions for stable results are suggested.

Irrigation Solutions in the Knee Arthroscopy - Comparison with Normal Saline and Lactated Ringer's Solution (슬관절 관절경 수술시 세척액 - 생리 식염수와 Lactated Ringer 용액의 비교)

  • Purpose: The object of this study is to compare the clinical results of noraml saline and Lactated Ringer's solution in the arthroscopic meniscus surgery on the knee. Materials and Methods: The study group included 64 patients who had an medial meniscus tear and received arthroscopic partial medial meniscectomy. The group I was normal saline group, which was used as an irrigation solution during operation. The group II was Lactated Ringer's solution group. We measured the visual analogue scale, painless active knee flexion angle, and the ratio of the knee swelling at postoperative one day for all patients. Results: The visual analogue scale and the painless active knee flexion angle were no significant differences in comparing with normal saline and Lactated Ringer's solution group. The ratio of the knee swelling in Lactated Ringer's solution group was significantly less than those of noraml saline group. Conclusion: Lactated Ringer's solution has an advantage of decreasing the knee swelling in the arthroscopic meniscus surgery on the knee.

A convergence study of the effects of asymmetric standing posture on knee joint position and lower extremity muscle activity in subjects with hyper-extended knee (무릎 과다 폄을 가진 대상자에게 비대칭 선 자세가 무릎 관절 위치와 근활성도에 미치는 영향에 대한 융합적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of hyper-extended knee and asymmetric standing posture on knee joint position and lower extremity muscle activity. Thirty-three voluntary participants participated and included sixty legs in the study. The sixty legs were divided into two groups: hyper-extended knee and normal group. The muscle activity and knee extension angle were measured. In the asymmetric standing posture, the knee joint extension angle and the muscle activity of the gastrocnemius were statistically significant between the normal group and the hyper-extended knee group. Based on the results, we confirmed that the asymmetric standing posture increases the hyper-extended knee. Therefore, it will contribute to the establishment of therapeutic guide for the subjects with hyper-extended knee to maintain the symmetrical standing posture, and future studies need to be conducted including the effects of the hip joint and ankle joints.

  • Various types of disease in the nervous and musculoskeletal system can change gait, and the gait analysis is very important in determining the progression of the disease. Most methods of analyzing gait are subject to high-priced equipment and spatial restrictions. This study used smart phone images and the walking track analysis program to make a comparative analysis with the existing gait analysis on the basis of the stride length measurements and the changes in the knee joint angle for walking. The test necessary to analyze gait was conducted in seven healthy men, and data about the angle of right and left knee joints and stride length were used to analyze gait. The gait analysis in this study obtained the similar results to the existing ones. The use of the methods suggested in this study will enable gait analysis to be made without high-priced equipment and spatial restrictions.

Effects of Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation of the Vastus Medialis on Pain and Muscle Function in Patients with Knee Osteoarthritis (내측광근의 신경근전기자극(NMES)이 퇴행성 슬관절염 환자의 통증 및 근 기능에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the functional changes of the vastus medialis while the neuromuscular electrical stimulation(NMES) was performed in elderly women with knee osteoarthritis. The subjects of this study were 30 women who were diagnosed degenerative arthritis, 15 in the experimental group and 15 in the control group. The experimental group performed conventional physical therapy and neuromuscular electrical stimulation, and the control group received only conventional physical therapy, five times per week for four weeks. Outcome measures were assessed before and after 4weeks using the VAS(pain), quadriceps femoris strength, thigh circumference, and Q-angle. The data of the quadriceps femoris strength and thigh circumference were significantly increased in experimental group(p<0.05). The data the pain was significantly decreased in both the two groups(p<0.05). There were statistically significant differences in quadriceps femoris strength and thigh circumference between the two groups(p<0.05). As the result, the application of neuromuscular electrical stimulation of the vastus medialis could be more effective for decrease pain and improving muscle function in patients with knee osteoarthritis.
