A Study on Seed Germination, Seedling Growth and Absorption of Inorganic Nutrients of Deutzia crenata Seedlings Treated with Poultry Manure (계분 처리에 의한 빈도리나무(Deutzia crenata) 종자발아·유묘생육 및 무기물 흡수에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to obtain proper amount of solid poultry manure in the beginning phase of Deutzia crenata growth. Seedling growth increment, dry weight, inorganic matter uptake and chemical changes of soil according to the concentration of solid poultry manure fertilization. 1. When treated with solid poultry manure, seed germination rate was highest on the control. However, germination rates tended to decrease when treated with at high concentrations. 2. The growth of seedlings treated with poultry manure was always higher than that in control. At the 1.0% of poultry manure treatment, the growth rate and dry weight of the seedlings was highest. 3. The amount of inorganic nutrients absorbed by the seedling was generally high with the 1.0% treatment, declined sharply with the 2.0% treatment. 4. For the planting soil of Deutzia crenata, the higher the concentration of poultry manure, the lower the soil pH. However, nitrogen, available P, K, Na and Mg contents in the soil have increased with higher concentrations.

Development of VPPE-BE Testing System to Evaluate Modulus under Post-Compaction Variation in Matric Suction for Unsaturated Compacted Soils (다짐지반의 모관흡수력 변화에 따른 탄성계수 평가를 위한 VPPE-BE 시험 시스템 개발)

  • The volumetric pressure plate extractor (VPPE) was modified for the measurement of shear wave velocity ($V_s$) at various levels of matric suction as well as soil water characteristic curve (SWCC). A non-destructive technique with a pair of bender element (BE) was employed in order to measure the $V_s$ and the corresponding maximum shear modulus ($G_{max}$) of unsaturated soil specimens. Three types of soil were collected from different road construction sites in Korea. For all test soils, the variations in $G_{max}$ with the various levels of water content and matric suction were investigated using the developed apparatus. Compared with the preceding results from the suction-controlled torsional shear (TS) testing system and in-situ seismic tests, the feasibility fur evaluating modulus characteristics of unsaturated compacted soils with the developed VPPE-BE system was assessed. It was confirmed that the newly developed system would be potentially helpful in modeling seasonal variation of modulus.

Major Components of Caprine Milk and Its Significance for Human Nutrition (산양유의 조성과 그 식품영양학적 의의)

  • Recently, infant formula products made of caprine milk have gained popularity, mainly because the nutritional composition of caprine milk is similar to that of human milk. In addition, caprine milk is considered to be better than bovine milk in terms of nutrient composition and easier digestion. Compared to bovine milk, caprine milk contains more ${\beta}$-casein, but less ${\alpha}$S1-casein. While the lactose concentration of both bovine and caprine milk is almost the same, a content of total oligosaccharides in caprine milk was approximately five to eight times higher than that in bovine milk. However, as the dairy goat industry in Korea is in a nascent stage of milk production and further processing, many nutritional advantages of caprine milk over bovine milk are not fully conveyed to general consumers. It is recommended that scientific research regarding the nutritional benefits of caprine milk needs to be conducted urgently, owing to the increasing domestic sales of infant formula products made of caprine milk.

  • 서지를 제어하기 위해서는 3가지 정도를 고려해 볼 수 있다. 첫째는 서지를 흡수하는 것이다. 이 방식은 엄청난 양의 서지를 축적할 수 있는 방법은 아직 현재 과학으로 불가능하다. 둘째는 서지를 해소 시키는 것이다. 그러나 극히 짧은 순간에 높고 강한 서지를 열이 나 빛으로 변환하는 것도 어렵거니와 그로 인한 주변의 피해 또는 서지를 그냥 두었을때에 비하여 적다고 할 수 없을 것이다.

  • Five Korean native goats were employed to test the effectiveness of the two modified techniques (Method I and II) of Pawlow's pouch method. Both methods turned out to be successful and simpler than the original Pawlow's pouch method. In both methods, the miniature rumens were formed on the junction of two veins; versa ruminalis sinistra and vena ruminalis dextra. Both method I and II have the advantage of shortening the operation time, but caution is necessary to prevent the fistula formation between the rumen and miniature rumen in Method I. lt is recommended that the inner surface of the miniature rumen should be cleaned before performing the absorption test.

  • Oleanolic acid is known as which anti-cancer, anti-sinhaeng angiogenic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-wrinkle effects. We focused on the antioxidant activity of oleanolic acid was separated from the natural plant and It was confirmed that the whitening effect. In this study, oleanolic acid was stabilized by polyglyceryl surfactant which from natural origin with only a simple stirring operation, and compared with lecithin liposome that was manufactured with high cost facility. The transdermal transition rate of 0.4% oleanolic acid polyglyceryl nanoemulsion was 95%, and it was simillar with lecithin liposome of 92%. 65% of 3hr transdermal transition rate of polyglyceryl nanoemulsion indicate charistiristcs of quick release, compared with 45% of lecithin liposome's 3hr transdermal transition rate. In the in-vivo clinical trial test, polyglyceryl nanoemulsion of 0.4% oleanolic acid was higher 25% in 2nd week, 58% in 4th and 8th weeks than non-added oleanolic acid emulsion.

  • The present study utilized a shuttle mechanism of wet chemical absorption using MEA. In addition, industrial by-products containing a large amount of inorganic alkali substances were utilized for wet carbonization process. Chemical pretreatment of industrial by-products extracted calcium ions. ICP result of calcium ion was obtained up to 17,900 ppm(17.9%) by acidic substance. And also, In this work, 94% of recovery rate was obtained using wet MEA absorption process from $CO_2$ flow at the ambient condition. Through the liquid carbonation process, a sludge was fixed with rate of 0.175 mg of $CO_2$ per mg of sludge. It was found from XRD results that the structure of final product was composed of a calcite structure which is general structure of $CaCO_3$.

Evaluation of CO2 Removal Efficiency in Liquor plant by scrubber (스크러버를 이용한 주류공정 내 고농도 이산화탄소 제거효율 평가)

  • In this paper, $CO_2$ absorption of scrubber was tested for removal of high concentration $CO_2$. Liquid to gas ratio($18L/m^3$) and Superficial velocity(0.14 m/s) was determined through Lab-scale test. As flow rates increase 1, 2, 3, 4 and $5m^3/min$, $CO_2$ removal efficiency decrease 98.47%, 96.46%, 92.95%, 89.71% and 85.49%. Also, the scrubber operation made energy improvement(5.4%), energy saving(11.5 TOE/year) and greenhouse gases reduction(6.5 TC/year).
