The main purpose of this study is to investigate the Korean youths' impressions of the scientist. The concept of impression is assumed to reflect our significant view of an object better than that of image. That is, the basic assumption is that we tend to behave toward an object, based on its impression which is conceived to be "significant". In late August and early September 2002, a national survey for 1,204 youth (406 for 5th grad; 381 for 8th grade; and 417 for 11th grade) was conducted to find the Korean youths' impressions of the scientist. Our major finding is that the Korean youths' most impressions of the scientist were re his or her activities such as inventing, experimenting, researching, etc. And the major sources of those impressions were found to be television, book, and class. Other findings were about youths' impressions of the science teacher and opinions of the scientist as a profession. Finally, some policy-related implications based on survey results were presented at the end.

The objective of this study was to examine the availability of the new impression coping by comparing with conventional coping in implant pick-up impression technique. Five implant fixtures were installed on #14, 21, 23, 25, 27 in acrylic resin model. That model with 5 fixtures was standard model, which was divided 3 groups; using new flag type impression coping, conventional impression coping splinted with self-curing resin, conventional impression coping without splinting. We made metal circular cones for calculation 3-dimensional coordinates by attaching to implant fixtures or analogs. Three-dimensional relationships of each model were calculated. Data was analyzed by multiple ANOVA and Bonferroni. The accuracy of impression between using new flag type impression coping and conventional impression coping did not show differences in 3 - dimensional analysis.Within limitations of this study, the new flag type impression coping is available in implant pick-up impression technique.

This study investigated the relationship between the physical features and personality impression of faces. Subjects were exposed to male and female facial photographic images. Using 7-points scales, subjects were asked to rate 31 personality traits. The three factors extracted from factor analysis were labeled social desirability, activity, and intelligence. The analysis of correlation between physical features and factor scores of faces indicated that there is a significant correlation between features of eye of male faces and intelligence and between features of chin of female faces and intelligence and social desirability. These results suggested that subjects judged the personality impression, based on different physical features in male and female feces.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the patients' perception, acceptance, and preference of the difference between a conventional impression and digital impression through questionnaire survey. Materials and Methods: Thirteen (6 male, 7 female) subjects who experienced both digital and conventional impression at the same day were enrolled in this study. Conventional impression were taken with polyvinylsiloxane and digital impression were performed using a newly developed intra-oral scanner. Immediately after the two impressions were made, a survey was conducted with the standardized questionnaires consisting of the following three categories; 1) general dental treatment 2) satisfaction of conventional impression 3) satisfaction of digital impression. The perceived source of satisfaction was evaluated using Likert scale. The distribution of the answers was assessed by percentages and statistical analyses were performed with the paired t-test, and P < 0.05 was considered significant. Results: There were significant differences of the overall satisfaction between two impression methods (P < 0.05). Digital impression showed high satisfaction in less shortness of breath and odor to participants compared to conventional impression. The use of an oral scanner resulted in a discomfort of TMJ due to prolonged mouth opening and in lower score of the scanner tip size. Conclusion: It was confirmed that the preference for the digital impression using intraoral scanner is higher than the conventional impression. Most survey participants said they would recommend the digital impression to others and said they preferred it for future prosthetic treatment.

서울대 58년 역사상 첫여성 처장으로 임명됐던 노정혜 연구처장(생명과학부 교수)이 7월말로 2년간의 임기를 끝냈다. 노 처장은 지난해 우리 사회를 혼란스럽게 했던 황우석 박사의 줄기세포 논문조작 사건을 맡아 진실 규명에 중요한 일을 해낸 것으로 평가받고 있다. 당시 노 처장은 전국민을 대상으로 한 방송 생중계에서 차분한 어조와 절제된 표현, 힘 있는 발언으로 강한 인상을 남겼다. 또 서울대 자연대 수석 졸업, 20대 서울대 여교수 임용, 강금실(전법무부 장관), 김영란(대법관)과 고교 동기 등의 사실이 알려지면서 노 연구처장에 대한 개인적인 호기심을 불러일으키기도 했다. 정운찬 서울대 23대 총장의 이임식이 열리던 지난 7월 19일, 서울대 본부의 연구처장실에서 그를 만났다. 그는“과학자가 행정업무에 적합하지 않다는 것은 선입견일 뿐”이라며“과학자는 합리성을 갖고 있기 때문에 오히려 더 잘할 수 있다”고 밝혔다.

The purpose of this study is to find out its effect on wearers' impression formated by combination of their body type with neutral tone clothing. The experimental materials developed for this study are a set of responses to stimulus in scales(7-point semantic). 45 pictures used as stimulus are, through computer simulation, manipulated to five wearers' body type and nine neutral tone wear. The subjects are 276(?) female undergraduate students in Kyung-nam area. Factors on wearers' impression suggested as responses to the stimulus consist of 5 different demensions (Tenderness, Cuteness, Attractiveness, Elegance, Intrepidity). The results of this study are as follows: first, combination of their body type with neutral tone wear significantly affects the formation of wearers' impression in the factor of Tenderness, Attractiveness, and Intrepidity (?); to the factor of Attractiveness, wearers' body type is rather more related than wearers' neutral tone wear is. Second, the harmony of their body type with neutral tone wear has a significant effect on wearers' impression in the factor of Cuteness. According to those results, the combination of wearers' body type with neutral tone wear has significant effects on the formation of wearers' impression.

The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of wearers' body types and clothes' neutral tone combination on impression formation. The experimental materials developed for this study are a set of stimulus and response scales(7-point semantic). The stimulus include 45 pictures manipulated by computer simulation in wears' body types and neutral tone variation. The subjects are 540 female undergraduate students in Gyeong-nam. The results of this study are as follows: Impression factor of the stimulus consisted of 5 different dimensions including tenderness, cuteness, attractiveness, elegance, intrepidity. Each impression of neutral tone combinations, along with wears' body types, had a significant effect on tenderness, attractiveness, and intrepidity. Especially, it had the strongest effects on attractiveness. Each impression of wearers' body types along with neutral tone combinations affected cuteness significantly. According to the fact above, wears' body types and neutral tone combination have a significant influence on the impression formation of wearers.

The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of three clothing cues(neutral tone, skirt width, and skirt length of dress) on the impressions of females. The experimental materials developed for this study were a set of stimuli and response scales. The stimuli were 20 color pictures manipulated with three clothing cues by drawing. The 7-point scale designed for visual evaluation of impression formation about females included 29 bipolar adjectives. The subjects were 240 undergraduate female students in Chinju city. The results of this study were as follows: By analyzing the impression of female figures by neutral tone, skirt width, and length, five factors including ability.activity, elegance, attractiveness, concentration of attention, and tenderness were identified. Among these factors, ability.activity and elegance were proved to be more important. Each impression of neutral tone with skirt width. length have significant effects on tenderness. Each impression of skirt width.length with neutral tone have significant effects on ability.activity.
