This paper is a theoretical inquiry of the changing roles of digital technologies in the representation of risk. Critically examining existing perspectives on risk society and risk communication, this paper argues that digital technologies and images in risk communication have been relatively understudied. Having said that, this paper suggests that Actor-network Theory provide useful theoretical tools for current studies on how digital technologies affect contemporary risk communication practices. Furthermore, this paper examines varied recent studies investigating how digital technologies of visualization are at play in risk communication practices. In doing so, this paper demonstrates how digital images and technologies interrupt the processes that scientific evidence is presented and facts are constructed in varied contemporary scientific reasoning. It will focus on the emerging mode of seeing and visual regime made possible by the increased usage of digital image and technologies, which are characterized by networked connection, sensor, computerized algorithm, and increased storage space. Finally this paper will discuss on the implications on future studies on the roles of digital images and technologies in risk communication practices in Korean context.

The purpose of this study is to analyze elementary students' conceptual metaphor forms of light through their image schema of light. The participants were 162 $6^{th}$ grade students from G city, Gyeongsangnam-do. For this study, the analysis framework was developed as image schema analysis and systemic functional grammar analysis. Then, students' metaphorical expressions of light concepts were analyzed by the framework(image schema analysis and systemic functional grammar analysis). The findings are as follows. First, in the understanding of source of light, students had two structures of light. (a)Light comes out from a light source and goes straight in space. (b)Light is dispersed around a light source. Second, in the understanding of the process to see a material, students had five structures including scientific concept as light came out from a light source approaches the material and reflects off the material, then the light goes into the person's eyes. Third, in the understanding of reflection of light, students had four structures including scientific concept as light came out from a light source approaches the mirror and is reflected from the mirror.

This study was conducted to examine how marine sport event visitors' satisfactions and city image effect on revisit and recommendation. To do this, we analyzed the socio-statistical characteristics of spectators, and examined the influence relationship among city image, satisfaction, revisit and recommendation intention. The results were as follows: First, 'family and relatives' as the companions of spectators of yacht competition were the most, and the route of acquiring the competition information was 'the other', in other words, that most of the respondents learned directly in the field, and 'car' as transportation means was the most. In addition, "local tourism" as watching purposes was the most and 'the day' as the period of stay was the most. Second, the image and satisfaction of spectators of yacht competition showed significant influence on revisit and recommendation intention. Specifically, program satisfaction and program agent satisfaction, which are a sub-factors of satisfaction, have a significant positive effect on revisit and recommendation intention. Through these research results, we were able to confirm inadequacy(lack of attractiveness, connections and public relations) of this event, and see what parts should be improved in order to be born again a sustainable event.

한국의 육류 소비량이 늘어감에 따라 한우의 수요 및 공급도 점차 늘어가고 있다. 한우는 육질 등급(QG)과 육량 등급(YG)으로 나누어 판별되며 근내지방도, 고기 색, 지방색, 조직감, 성숙도, 도체 중량, 배최장근 단면적, 등지방두께 등 여러 항목을 고려한다. 현재는 주로 등배근을 맨눈으로 확인하는 수동 판별 방식이 사용된다. 하지만 평가사가 정확하게 판단하기 어렵고, 작업자의 부주의로 인한 육류의 오염 등 시간과 비용의 문제점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점들을 한우 등급 판별 자동화로 해결하기 위해 한우의 등심 단면 이미지를 활용하여 등배근의 근내지방도를 산출하고 한우 등급을 자동 판별하는 알고리즘을 구현하였으며 평균 정확도는 79.2%를 달성하였다.

본 논문에서는 다양한 합병증의 원인인 형태 이상 적혈구로 인한 질환 진단의 정확도 및 오진율 감소를 위해 말초 혈액 도말 검사를 통한 혈액의 병리학적 이미지를 토대로 형태 이상 적혈구를 검출 및 계수하는 시스템을 구현하였다. 본 시스템은 혈액 분석 검사에 주로 사용되는 자동 혈구 분석기의 비용 및 인력, 시간의 부담을 줄이고, 수기법의 검출 소요시간 및 검사자의 주관적 진단 등 문제점을 개선시켜 단시간 내에 대량 분석을 할 수 있는 객관적인 진단 기구로 활용되어 정밀 의료 분야에 큰 기여를 할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

Recently a mobile service is changing into a system environment that offers the customer various contents service. Representative example of service is a Calling Identity Del ivory Service(CID). Such service has the problem in the case which the receiver cannot remember the phone number of the sender; it has a difficult problem that cannot easily confirm whose the phone number it is. Therefore, it is desirable to design and implement visual services that can enhance the recognition of users. In this paper, we propose the architecture that is similar to a Calling Identity Delivery Service. We propose the architecture for communication service and system that is able to visually display the information of the sender using 2D image data in mobile environment. After that we set the image information to represent the user and this method is able to visually display the information of the sender by transmitting an image data through channels from switch station or base station using the server. When the receiver receives a phone call from the sender, this method provides an efficient service by transmitting visual data with bell sound. That is, the image information of sender is appeared on liquid crystal display(LCD) of the receiver at the same time. We investigate the concepts for processing real-time transmission of image data and describe an example of the implementation result that is based on system. This technology has a potential influence on the marketing and presents an efficiency of this method.

This paper proposes an image retrieval method based on the Multiple Region-of-Interest. In the proposed method, the image is segmented into blocks, among which the blocks overlapped with multiple ROIs are selected. The similarity of images is measured using the MPEG-7 dominant color descriptor(DCD) and considering the relative location of the overlapped blocks. The experimental results showed that the proposed method improves the retrieval performance than the previous methods using the global DCD or comparing the blocks at the same position. In addition, the method that considers the relative position of blocks overlapped with the multiple ROIs also showed a better performance than the existing methods.

17대 국회 과학기술정보통신위원회 위원장에 이해봉 한나라당 의원이 선출돼 본격 상임위 활동에 들어갔다. 이 위원장은 6회 행정고시에 합격한 뒤 경상북도, 내무부, 대통령비서실, 총리실, 대구직할시장, 체육청소년부 차관을 거친 관료 출신으로 이번이 3선이다. 또한 내무부에서 잔뼈가 굵은 행정관료 출신으로 97년 한나라당 창당 때 입당해 깨끗하고 대쪽같은 이미지로‘이회창맨’으로 통한다. 15대 국회에서는 행자위, 16대 국회에서는 건교위에서 전문성을 발휘한 바 있는 이 위원장은 과묵하고 잘 나서지 않는 성품이지만 풍부한 행정 경험으로 업무추진력이 뛰어나 IT산업 발전과 정부정책 조정자로 제 역할을 다할 적임자로 평가받고 있다. 이해봉 과기정위 위원장을 만나봤다.

This research aim concerns questioning how we can generate environments suggestive of nature fused with built environments through textiles. Through literature reviews and experiments with available the 3D imaging techniques of Holography, Lenticular and other new technologies, We have researched towards finding the most effective method for 3D imaging techniques for textile applications. This objective is to produce intriguing textile patterns and images in which the objects and colours change as viewpoints change. Experimental work was carried out in collaboration with professional textile researchers, scientists, artists and designers conducting research in this field.

In this paper, we propose automatic OpenCL optimization techniques that offer the best performance for image processing programs on any hardware system. Developers should seek a proper way of parallelization and an appropriate work-group size for the architecture of target compute devices to achieve the best performance. However, testing potential devices to find them is both time-consuming and costly. Our techniques automatically set up hardware-optimized parallelization and find a suitable work-group size for the target device. Furthermore, using OpenCL does not always provide better performance in image processing. Hence, we also propose a way to automatically search for a threshold image size to allow image processing programs to decide whether or not to use OpenCL. Our findings demonstrate that out techniques improve the image processing performance significantly.
