원전의 방사능 누출은 물론, 전국의 환경 방사선이나 기상 등을 수시로 종합 감시하여 즉각적으로 대응하는 방사능 방재 전산망이 본격 가동되었다. 과학기술처는 7월 31일 과천 청사 방사선 비상대책실에서 원전 사고 등 비상시에 방사능 누출 현황 등을 컴퓨터 화면으로 한눈에 보고 대응책을 마련할 수 있는 방사능방재대책 기술지원전산망 가동식을 가졌다. 이 전산망은 $\ulcorner$방사선 영향 평가 및 예측 전산화 시스템(CARE)$\lrcorner$을 중심으로 서울 등 전국 20개 지역의 환경방사선량을 표시해주는 환경방사능 감시망과 기상자료 수집망이 하나로 연결된 컴퓨터 통신망이다. 이의 운영 현황을 들어본다.

만일 고속도로가 없다면? 전화가 없다면? 인터넷이 안된다면? 인간과 인간, 공간과 공간 사이의 네트워킹이 끊긴 상황을 상상하는 건 쉽지 않은 일이다. 과학기술 R&D에 있어서도 마찬가지다. R&D의 거대화로 시간과 공간의 제약 없이 진행되는 원격연구의 필요성이 급증하면서 협업을 가능하게 해주는 네트워킹 즉 초고속연구망의 중요성은 날로 커지고 있다. 오늘의 주인공 '초고속연구망개발실' 사람들이 밤낮을 잊은 채 바빠야만 하는 이유가 바로 거기에 있다.

This is a brief study on the influence of fumigation (using mixed gas of methyl bromide and ethylene oxide) on old paintings. Fumigation is principally used to prevent biological damage of objects. Thirteen objects, including old colored map from Chosǒn Dynasty and some paintings, were selected for this research. Before and after fumigation, color measurements were made and changes of pH value were measured. The result is that the fumigation did not affect on discoloration of colored area and acidity of paper, as far as the standard of application(such as concentration of gas, exposing time and ect.) of fumigation was kept.

Although a conservation laboratory is a kind of hospital for cultural assets, it is often planned on the standard of ordinary offices. In this study, things and conditions to be considered for a new conservation laboratory were discussed and suggested briefly, for the sections of architecture, electricity and lightning, air condition, fire protection, machinery and tools. As methods of creating a workspace adequate to conservation work, the method of dividing workspace on the basis of workstand and the method of placing machinery and tools on the basis of water supply and sewage systems were explained., Because a conservation laboratory varies in its duties and functions, it seems difficult that all the standards and conditions suggested in this study be fulfilled in every case. But understanding general standards and conditions and choosing ones adequate to special functions of each laboratory will be helpful to planning a new conservation laboratory.
