Enhancing the Role of Science Museums to Promote Community Cooperation-Based Science Culture (지역사회 협력기반 과학문화 활성화를 위한 과학관의 역할 제고)

  • This study introduces the new role of science museums. The practitioners from seven domestic science museums and four overseas ones participated in this study and responded the questionnaires. I identified what kind of science culture programs there are, if those programs were successful or not, and if unsuccessful, what kind of improvements can be made to be successful. The participating practitioners in science museums also developed an ideal and realistic community cooperation-based science culture programs and I explored the role of a new science museum for this purpose. In the case of current science culture programs, the most successful or not was the participation of visitors according to public relations, and the importance of public relations were mentioned as improvements. For a successful community cooperation-based science and culture program, active promotion, pre-operation team, dedicated personnel, open mind, and same purpose of other institutions, the will of both institutions, and economic support sponsors are important variables. In the case of the domestic science museums, the actual development and operation of the program showed that a successful community based program must have cooperation with other institutions in the same region, win-win connections, the dedicated human resources, and that each science museum's strengths were maximized. The science culture programs in the 21st century will enhance the innovative role of science museums making the use of local human and physical infrastructure, reflecting the needs of citizens, taking the initiative in the community, fostering cooperation-based professional human resources, and communicating smoothly with the government or local governments.

  • 기업체(企業體)의 정보수요(情報需要)를 충족(充足)시킨다고 하는 것은 어느 국가(國家)에서나 대단히 어려운 문제(問題)이다. 새로운 발견(發見)의 적용발명(適用發明) 및 기술전달(技術傳達)은 단순(單純)한 문제(問題)가 아니며, 과학기술정보(科學技術情報)의 협동적(協同的)인 전달(傳達)도 또한 복잡(複雜)한 문제(問題)이다. 이유(理由)는 여러 가지이다. 즉 기업(企業)이라고 하는 것은 광범위(廣範圍)하고 복합적(複合的)이며 비교적(比較的) 비조직적(非組織的)이다. 기업(企業)의 임무(任務)는 생산(生産)이며 정보(情報)에 대한 기업(企業)의 인식(認識)은 퍽 낮기 때문이다. 기업체(企業體)에 정보(情報)를 제공(提供)하는 다양(多樣)한 외적(外的)인 서어비스는 대개 제공(提供)된 자료(資料)를 평가(評價)하지도 못하고 때로는 기업체(企業體)의 신임(信任)도 얻지 못하고 있다. 개발도상국(開發途上國)에 관(關)한 한(限) 기업(企業)의 성장(성장)에 대해 과학기술정보(과학기술정보)가 담당한 정확(정확)한 역할(역할)에 관(관)해서는 아직 불확실(不確實)하다. 정확(正確)한 정보수요(情報需要)를 정(定)하기에는 너무 많은 문제(問題)들이 있다. 즉 정보(情報)의 수요(需要)는 매우 복합적(複合的)인 과정(過程)임을 인정(認定)하여야 한다. 앞으로 개발도상국(開發途上國)들은 기술협력계획(技術協力計劃)에 의거(依據)하여 과거(過去)보다도 더 정보전달(情報傳達)에 역점(力點)을 두어야 하리라 생각한다.

  • In modern society, to be achieved status as a Science edutainment experience, not just a science museum is established. It requires strategy and differentiation of a variety of entertainment, including theme parks, games, movies which are youth like. When the understanding of the audience for the principles of science to improve the use of ICT Convergence contents display, you need to take measures to increase the effectiveness of the Science Museum by giving the function of interesting leisure space in addition to the popular area of Science Education, Scientific and Cultural aspects reached. This role requires a science museum as a cultural space with the community as a chapter in science education. Science Museum is not a need to worry about what will convey to the public as efficiently as the Mecca of the educational content for the National Science Education. The analysis of the external environment, the composition will take on science education as a mecca of science education and how to combining ICT convergence technology in modern society beyond mere science museum experience and education in this study.

  • Since Daejeon observatory has been built as the first astronomical science museum(ASM) whose theme is astronomy and space, many ASMs have been built or are being built by the governmental support. ASMs are requested to perform an important role as the educational venue that can be experienced the scientific activities for supplementing regular science education. This study investigated the analysis of the connection to astronomy-related contents of science curriculum revised in 2009 for exhibits of 17 ASMs. As a result, exhibits of ASMs show the low reflectivity to science curriculum and are very biased to standard of accomplishment. That is, they are not sufficient enough for the students to reach the learning objectives. However the astronomical scientific activities which are hard to be performed in regular school curriculum can be experienced at ASMs. Additionally, since exhibits of ASMs are easy to access and accept, they can provide the effective educational activities and learning effect. Therefore, ASMs have to be improved for supplementing regular science education through the informal curriculum of astronomical scientific activities by the producing and displaying good astronomy-related exhibits.
