  • This study explored students' subject interests and task difficulty recognition levels changed when they provided tasks with Keller's ARCS motivation design in PBL(Problem Based Learning) class. This study participant were 79 college students majoring in teaching profession. Experimental and comparative groups were formed for the study. Primary PBLs were conducted to measure prior levels of subject interest and task difficulty recognition. Secondary PBLs were performed to verify the effectiveness of the ARCS motivation design task. The experimental group performed the tasks that reflected the ARCS motivation design. Collected data were analyzed using ANCOVA. As a result, the experimental group had a higher level of subject interest and a lower level of task difficulty recognition.

  • The purpose of this study was to find out how interest in thermal concepts and the perceived difficulty affect the stimulation of science state curiosity. To achieve this purpose, 410 elementary school students in 5th to 6th grade were asked to measure interest in the content of the thermal concept tasks, the perceived difficulty and science state curiosity while solving the thermal concept tasks. 2 (low interest vs. high interest)×2 (easy vs. difficult) ANCOVA was conducted with the covariate of the student's level of science curiosity, which is expected to affect the stimulation of science state curiosity. As a result of the analysis, students with high interest in the contents of the task were showed high science state curiosity. Meanwhile, there was no difference in the level of science state curiosity according to the perceived difficulty. In addition, science state curiosity level of the students with low interest in the content of the task were high when they perceived the task as easy, but science state curiosity level of the students with high interest in the content of the task were high when they perceived the task as difficult. This study was meaningful in that it empirically verified that interest in the content of the tasks has an effect on the stimulation of science state curiosity, and that the effect of interest on the stimulation of science state curiosity varies according to the level of the perceived difficulty.

Exploring the Moderating Effect of Difficulty in Recognized Curriculum Task on the Mediator Model of Interesting and Learning Motivation on Flow in Distant PBL Classes of Pre-service Teachers (예비교사들의 원격 PBL 수업에서 몰입에 대한 흥미수준과 학습동기의 매개모형에 미치는 인식된 교육과정 과제난이도의 조절효과 탐색)

  • This study explored the moderating effects of task difficulty for flow, learning motivation, and interesting in distant PBL classes of pre-service teachers. For this, the research model was constructed by analyzing previous studies. The research model verification was conducted by 105 students of taking courses in the curriculum. The distant PBL used a real-time video conference system. Cooperative activities were carried out in real time. After the end of the distant PBL activity, the level of learning motivation, interesting, flow, and task difficulty perception were measured. The collected data were analyzed using a test of the structural model invariance across the groups using a structural equation model. This analysis verifies the difference in path coefficients between measurement models. The control effect of task difficulty was verified through the difference in path coefficient. As a result, it was verified that interesting mediates the influence of learning motivation on flow. And the moderating effect of the perceived task difficulty appeared on the path from learning motivation to interesting.

  • This study investigated the effects of academic self-efficacy and resilience on perception of professionalism. The survey questionnaire was completed by 313 pre-service early childhood teachers. SPSS Win program was used to perform MANOVA and Multiple Regression Analysis. (1)The self-regulatory efficacy was significantly different according to grade and experience of child care practice. (2)The control and sociality, positivity were significantly different according to grade and experience of child care practice. (3)The perception of professionalism was significantly different according to grade and experience of child care practice. (4)The self-regulatory efficacy and the difficulty preference affected perception of professionalism. (5)The positivity and control affected perception of professionalism. This study indicated that it is necessary to make efforts for increasing perception of professionalism in pre-service early childhood teachers.

  • The purpose of the present study was to investigate personality type with evoked potentials. Teenage students(121 males, 69 females) tested Myers Briggs Type Indicator and raven like discrimination task by evoked potential. Raven like discrimination tasks were made of low, medium and high levels. Conclusively extraversion and introversion while accomplishing the raven like discrimination tasks, showed the significant difference between two groups in the power of concentration. M-Beta(middle beta), Gamma and H-Beta(high beta) were also appeared significant differences between two groups. The sensing and intuition type partially appeared the different tendency of two groups while accomplishing easy and medium of difficulty tasks. Thinking and Feeling type while accomplishing raven like discrimination tasks, showed difference of the concentration power and H-Beta at Fp1. But judgment and perception type did not appear the difference between two groups while accomplishing raven like discrimination tasks of low, medium, and high. These results implied that the personality type can be affected brain wave by evoked potentials.

  • The purpose of this study was to clarify the effect of learner variables on triggering state curiosity and state anxiety in confronting scientific task situation for fifth to sixth grades of elementary school. Science curiosity, interest, need for cognition, science self-concept, science anxiety, prior knowledge, and perceived difficulty were selected as learner variables that are expected to affect state curiosity and state anxiety. As a result of this study, the variables that had a significant influence on evoking state curiosity in confronting scientific task situation were in the order of interest, need for cognition, science curiosity, and prior knowledge, and all of these variables had a positive effect. In addition, the variables that significantly affect on evoking state anxiety in confronting scientific task situation were in the order of science anxiety, perceived difficulty, need for cognition, science self-concept, and prior knowledge. Of these, only prior knowledge had a negative effect on evoking state anxiety, and the other variables had a positive effect. The results of this study are expected to broaden the comprehension of students' emotional states in science education, and provide a theoretical foundation for the studies of state curiosity and state anxiety in science learning.

As a result, it was discovered that the self-leadership program had statistically significant differences in self-understanding, the understanding of work and the job world, setting a career goal and strategies in the sub-area of career recognition in adolescents under probation while there was no significant difference in the area of attitudes and values of work. The self-leadership program had statistically significant differences in confidence, self-regulated efficacy among the sub-area of self-efficacy of the subjects while there were no significant differences in the difficulty of the challenge. These results suggest that the self-leadership program had significant effects on career recognition and self-efficacy in adolescents under probation. In order to improve the career recognition and self-efficacy in adolescents under probation, further studies on the self-leadership program are needed and care should be paid to its usability.
