VAR를 이용한 금융위험 측정

  • VaR에 의한 금융위험의 측정은 국제결제은행 바젤위원회의 내부모델 허용에 힘입어 금융산업에서 표준방식으로 확고한 입지를 차지하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 한국주식시장포트폴리오를 거래투자자산으로 보유한 경우의 VaR를 극단치이론에 입각하여 측정하고 이의 성과를 RiskMetrics의 성과와 비교하여 검토하였다. GPD의 모수적 추정에 의한 VaR의 사후검정결과는 표본내 사후검정이나 표본외 사후검정에서 어떤 신뢰수준에서도 기대되는 범위와 크게 벗어나지 않은 안정된 결과를 보였다. RiskMetrics의 EWMA방식도 역시 표본내와 표본외 사후검정 어느 경우에나 기대되는 범위에서 크게 벗어나지 않았지만 높은 신뢰수준에서는 그 성과가 GPD VaR에 비하여 상대적으로 불안정하였으며 위험의 과소평가 성향을 확인할 수 있었다. 비모수적 GEV추정에 입각한 VaR의 경우에는 위험을 과대평가하고 지나치게 보수적인 성향을 나타내었다. GPD의 모수적 접근에 의한 VaR 측정은 다양한 신뢰수준에서 정확한 검정결과를 보여주고 있으며, 시간적 흐름에 따르는 VaR의 행태도 지나친 변동성을 보이지 않아 외부규제 및 내부통제를 위한 금융위험의 측정지표로서 실용적인 가치가 있음을 확인할 수 있다.

Economic Evaluation of Port Hinterlands Using Real Option -Focusing on the Case Study for Hinterland of Busan New Port- (실물옵션을 이용한 항만배후단지의 가치평가 -부산신항 배후단지 사례분석을 중심으로-)

  • Recently the role of ports has been changed to satisfy flexibly needs of demands in global economy. A new concept for ports is not just a place for international trade but an important nodal point in logistics chain. The changing environment like this trend creates a high degree of uncertainty and leaves port managers confused with the question how to respond effectively to dynamic market. The latest studies provide that the port must have a good hinterland to achieve competitive advantages in a logistics chain. Korean Government announced "The Master Development Plan for Port Logistics Parks in Korea" in 2006. This contains the plan of hinterland construction of Busan New Port to achieve the status of logistics hub in Asian market. Previous studies rely solely on traditional DCF(discounted cash flow) analysis for investment of hinterland. However DCF method does not include irreversibility, uncertainty and the choice of timing for investment project. This thesis introduces a ROPM(real options pricing model) which overcomes the limitations of traditional valuation methods. The option valuations in this study utilize the Black-Scholes model, the binomial model and the MonteCarlo simulation to value investment opportunity of a port hinterland. In this thesis, an attempt is made to modify the NPV criterion by incorporating the real options approach, and its application is demonstrated in a hinterland construction investment plan. This research has conducted an empirical analysis by calculating economic value of the investment for a hinterland of Busan New Port.

The Relationship between Capital Composition and Market Share in the Global Shipping Market (글로벌 해운시장에서 기업의 자본구조와 시장점유율의 관계)

  • This study is to define the relationship between capital structure and the market share in the global shipping market, estimating the debt-equity ratio. To analyze the impact of the debt-equity ratio on market share, this study collected data from the 100 largest shipping companies from 2010 to 2017. Results identified that global shipping lines moderate their debt-equity rates to 62%, and all of them strategically utilize debt in order to increase market share in global shipping market. In comparison between the group focused on cargo volume and another group focused on freight rates, it is found that the group focused on cargo volume increase their handling cargo volume through increasing the debt rates. Another group used debt rate for reducing the freight rate and enhancing market power. Furthermore, after classifying the samples into high-growth and low-growth companies, this study compared the group focused on cargo volume and another group focused on freight rates. As a result, the low-growth group showed more significant impacts of the debt rate on market share than the high-growth group. The results of this study provide useful insight for future strategic decision making of shipping lines in the global shipping market.

Labor Mobility and Skill Development (노동이동과 인력개발)

  • First, The flow into and out of unemployment has been increasing considerably too since the late 1997. Moreover, about half of job changes involve career changes associated with industrial and occupational changes which workers work for. Workers who switch industries and occupations significantly suffer greater wage losses than observed similar workers who find new jobs in their pre-turnover industry or occupation. These findings imply that labor mobility is more likely to cause losses in accumulated skill of workers. Second, this study compared the wage return to past training when a worker remains with an employer with the wage return to past training when a worker moves to a new employer. Surprisingly, training provided by previous employers has significantly positive wage effect. These findings that the skill acquired by employer- provided training is transferable across some firms. Third, this study finds that the likelihood of sectoral mobility decreases with training received in the current industry. It gives an evidence of the industry- specific training. Based on these findings, this paper suggest the way of dividing the costs of benefits of training among employers within their sector to prevent under-investment in training.

  • This study extended Park et al.(2007c), which analyzed the efficiency of a hierarchical transit network, showed the result of a real data, and analyzed its applicability. Operating cost was estimated using a model which was established in this study, and minimum transit demand was derived from the operating cost. The minimum transit demand value is just a sample calculation, thus it varies by many inside and outside factors of the model. Looking at the inside of the model, operating cost and travel speed are major factors, and the possibility of introducing urban subway becomes high when the operating cost of the transit system is low and its travel speed is high. As far as the outside factors are concerned, according to the analysis on the network structure, transit demand, and transit mode share, the minimum transit demand value which was derived in this study will be the maximum value among the possible values. In the feasibility study, the benefit is likely to be overestimated and the cost is likely to be underestimated than those of this study. It could be concluded that the methodology of a feasibility study is appropriate in the field standard. This study analyzed the efficiency of introduction of urban subway using analytical approach, thus has many shortcomings and limitations. However the practical approach, like feasibility study, has some limitations as well. This study could be a basis on establishing an analysis framework that is more accurate and reasonable by comparing analytical approach and practical approach.

인력 수급 계획 수립을 위한 시스템 다이내믹스의 활용 - UIT 도입에 따른 정보 보호 환경 변화를 중심으로 -

  • 한 산업에서 인력 수급을 전망하는 것은 인력의 수요자인 기업의 측면에서는 안정적인 인력 확보 전략을 수립하기 위해서, 공급자인 산업 종사자들에게 있어서는 자신들이 앞으로 진출해야할 산업의 매력도를 파악하기 위해서, 그리고 정부 차원에서는 관련 산업에 있어서 중복 투자의 방지와 효율적이고 균형된 산업 발전을 위한 정책 수립을 위해서 매우 중요하다. 그러나 이러한 인력 수급 전망들은 종종 잘못된 시장 분석으로 인하여 인력의 과소 공급 또는 과잉 공급이라는 의도하지 않은 결과를 가져오는 경우가 있다. 이는 전체적인 시각에서 시장의 구조적 특성을 분석하기보다는 현상을 조사하는 수준에 머물거나 현재의 상황 또는 단일 산업만을 고려할 뿐 시간의 흐름에 따른 동태적 변화와 지연된 피드백의 효과, 그리고 관련 산업간의 유기적 연관관계를 반영하지 못한 채 단기적이고 단선적인 관점에서 인력 수급을 전망하는데 그 원인이 있다고 볼 수 있다. 특히, 다른 산업과의 연관 관계가 복잡하고 인력의 수요의 급증에도 불구하고 산업에서 요구하는 인력을 양성하기까지 많은 시간이 소요되는 첨단 산업 및 신생 산업에서의 경우 이러한 현상은 더욱 두드러지게 나타날 수 있다. 이러한 관점에서 본 논문은 변수간의 상호 동태적인 관계와 시간의 흐름에 따른 행태를 분석하는 데 용이한 SD 방법론에 기초하여 최근 빠르게 성장하고 있는 정보보호산업에서의 동태적인 인력 수급 모델을 구현하여 향후 국내 정보 보호 인력의 수급 행태가 어떻게 전개될 것인지를 분석해 보았으며 이를 통하여 동태적 시각에서 인력 수급 불균형 현상의 원인을 파악하고 문제해결을 위한 대안을 제시하고자 한다.

비정상적 위험에 대비한 자산운용방안

  • 본 연구에서는 비정상적 사건을 정의하고 이에 따른 비정상적 위험의 구체적인 유형을 파악하며, 이와 관련된 사학연금의 위험관리 체계에 대한 검토와 함께 비정상적 위험에 효과적으로 대응할 수 있는 자산운용방안을 제시하였다. 우선 비정상적 사건을 '과거 자료를 이용한 발생확률의 추정이나 발생여부에 대한 예측이 불가능하며 따라서 이의 발생 가능성을 사전에 고려하고 대비하는 사전적인 대처가 어려운 사건으로서 자산운용과 위험관리에 무시할 수 없는 영향을 미치는 사건'으로 정의하였으며, 이의 구체적인 형태로서 금융위기를 포함하는 9가지 사건 유형을 파악하였다. 동비정상적 사건들은 포트폴리오 투자를 통한 자산운용에서 개별자산군의 기대수익률과 위험 및 자산군 사이의 상관관계에 영향을 미쳐, 기존의 자산배분안의 최적성을 상실시키고 위험수준의 측정치인 VaR값을 과소 또는 과대추정하게 할 수 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 한편 비정상적 사건의 해외 사례에 대한 분석에서는 비정상적 사건의 영향이 개별 사건마다 다양한 양태로 발현되는 것이 관측되었다. 본 연구에서는 사학연금의 현행 자산배분 체계가 이와 같은 비정상적 사건의 영향에 적절하게 대응하기 어려운 상황이라고 진단하였으며, 비정상적 사건에 적절히 대응하기 위한 자산관리방안의 일환으로서 일별 수익률 자료를 사용한 비정상적 사건의 영향 평가방안을 제시하였다. 한편, 사학연금의 현행 위험관리 체계는 비정상적 사건의 발생에 적절하게 대응할 수 있는 것으로 평가되었다

The New Urbanization Process and Urban Policy of Daegu in the 1990s (1990년대 대구의 신도시화 과정과 도시정책)

  • This paper is to consider the new urbanization process of Daegu in the 1990s, especially with its economy, politics, social culture, environment and space. In the economic aspect, the industrial structure of Daegu has shifted from the manufacturing- centered economy to the service economy. But it has not yet overcome the linear frame of industrial structure still relying on the textile industry, though the degree of industrial specialization has increased in the part of the fabricated metal products and the precision and optical instrument. In the political situation that the implementation of the local self-government has made the relation between localities more competitive, the local government of Daegu has led a boom for boosting the regional economic growth, organizing private-public-research relations to improve the weakening regional investment and production function. In the social and cultural aspect of the new urbanization, the investment into the soft-ware facilities has been increased, and the urban festivals have been changed so as to revitalize the regional economy. In the environmental aspect, as the self-government system has launched, conflicts around values and interests of local governments have revealed frequently due to locations of infra-structures and of abhorrence facilities. Finally, seen from the spatial dimension of the city, the extension of residential areas and unregulated use of urban space have a result of inefficience of land-use, and this kind of unplanned outer expansion of the city has brought about with further separation of house and working place, and increasing distance of movements and the an urban spatial structure which requires more energy consumption.

Non-linear effects of demand-supply based metro accessibility on land prices in Seoul, Republic of Korea: Using G2SFCA Approach (서울시 수요-공급 기반 지하철 접근성이 토지가격에 미치는 비선형적 영향: G2SFCA 적용을 중심으로)

  • Cities around the world have paid attention to public transportation as an alternative to reducing traffic congestion caused by automobile usage, excessive energy consumption, and environmental pollution. This study measures accessibility to subway stations in Seoul using a supply-demand-based accessibility technique. Then, the impacts were analyzed through land prices by use and segment. As a result of analysis using the multilevel hedonic price models, accessibility considering both supply and demand for the subway had a positive effect on both residential and non-residential land prices. The effect was stronger for residential than for non-residential. Further, among the accessibility measured by the three functions, the accessibility by the Exponential function was most suitable for the residential land price, and the accessibility measured by the Power function for the non-residential land price had the highest explanatory power. Also, looking at the impacts by land price segments, it was found that higher access to metro stations had the greatest positive impacts on the most expensive segment of residential and non-residential land prices. The results of this study can be applied not only to identify the impacts of public investment on neighborhoods, but also to support real estate valuation.

Effect of Awareness on the Change of Polluting Emission - Analysis of the Environmental Kuznets Curve Hypothesis- (인식수준이 환경오염물질 배출량 변화에 미치는 영향 -환경쿠즈네츠 곡선 가설 연구-)

  • The purpose of this study is to explain the causes of the phenomenon that the Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis suggests that the increasing the emissions level of environmental pollutants starting to decrease as a certain income level is reached, associating microeconomic variables such as awareness level. Effects of the level of awareness differs depending on the characteristics of the impacts of pollutants- either regional or global. Furthermore, the study identifies that the impacts on the change in emissions inventory differ. The study empirically examines and concludes that the turning point where the emission level of environmental pollutants starts to decrease is over- or under-estimated if the differing responses between the level of awareness and its effect on pollutants are ignored. In addition, the level of emissions starts to decrease at a lower level of income in case of regional effect from pollutant than the global effect from it. Finally, the study implies that investing more efforts and resources to improve the level of people's awareness on environmental quality is effective if the government is to alter the increasing path of emission level.
