  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of job satisfaction, self-encouragement, and subjective well-being of public kindergarten teachers. To achieve this, a questionnaire was given to 121 teachers in public kindergartens, and the data were analyzed through descriptive statistics and independent-sample t-tests. The main results of this study are as follows: First, job satisfaction, self-encouragement, and subjective well-being of the teachers were above medium level, while negative affect was lower. Second, public kindergarten teachers with higher job satisfaction showed significantly higher subjective well-being than those with lower job satisfaction. Third, teachers with higher levels of self-encouragement showed significantly higher subjective well-being than those with lower job satisfaction. Fourth, in the case of teachers with higher job satisfaction, those with higher levels of self-encouragement showed significantly higher subjective well-being than those with lower levels. The results suggest that the subjective well-being of the teachers depends on the level of their job satisfaction and self-encouragement, and that even if they do have low job satisfaction, high self-encouragement could have a positive effect for them. The results of this study are discussed, and suggestions provided for further research.

  • The purposes of this study were to examine a tendency of kindergarten teachers' daily work performance and to explore their perceptions on the reality and efficiency of working hours. 273 public and private kindergarten teachers completed questionnaires. The findings of the study are as follows. First, kindergarten teachers carried out an average of 1.41 duties per a 30-minute segment, and there were some differences in their duties between public and private teachers. Second, as a key reason of their lack of preparation time for class, public teachers indicated much administrative work, whereas private teachers indicated many events and common work. In addition, for the work duties that require supporting staff, public teachers pointed out clerical work, whereas private teachers named event-related duties. Third, in terms of efficiency of their working hours, both public and private teachers highlighted excessive workload as a key obstacle; public teachers also indicated the shortage of supporting staff, while private teachers indicated many event-related duties and lack of directors' leadership. These findings imply that it is important to maintain an optimum level of workload for kindergarten teachers, to secure preparation time for class, to increase work efficiency, and to provide support specific to kindergarten types.

For this, a questionnaire survey was conducted targeting 118 kindergarten teachers. Percentile analysis and MANOVA using CBAM model were carried out. As a result of the research, the kindergarten teachers' concern level is analyzed to be a critical non-user pattern on the whole. However, a pattern aspect was shown with a slightly high concern in stage 1, stage 2 and stage 3 compared to a typical type, and with a low concern level in stage 4. In consequence of having implemented MANOVA, the private kindergarten teachers' concern level appeared to be significantly high in stage 4 and stage 6 compared to a public kindergarten. Also, compared to the teachers who plan to utilize physical computing from now on, the teachers who don't have a plan of the application had significantly high concern level in stage 0. The concern level score was significantly low in 1~6 stages excluding stage 3.

  • This study tries to provide basic data that can be useful in suggesting the direction of kindergartens attached to elementary schools, by examining the issues in such kindergartens and the ways to develop them for the future. To do this, I surveyed seven participants, who are currently directors in the kindergartens attached to the elementary schools, by in-depth interviewing. As a result, I found the main issue involves the administrators' lack of expertise about the education of preschoolers. Thus, I suggest that there should be more opportunities to retrain the affiliated principals or directors to better understand the education of preschoolers or the related instructors. Second, I concluded that another critical issue involves the poor administrative and financial system in the current kindergartens attached to the elementary schools. To solve this, I suggest that the government and the local education offices should actively support them with a the solid administrative and financial system. Finally, considering the complaints that the current teachers in those kindergartens are being isolated from the greater society, I suggest that there should be specific solutions to construct the cooperative systems related to scholarships and consulting that help the teachers develop their expertise in educating preschoolers.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine any possible gaps between the recognition of early childhood teachers on instructional planning elements and their implementation. The subjects in this study were 341 teachers who worked in Province. The collected data were analyzed by paired t-test, one-way ANOVA - test. The alpha coefficients of the instruments were 0.92 and 0.94 respectively, which showed the instruments were both reliable. The teachers investigated scored high when a four-point scale was utilized, but they scored lower in implementation than in recognition. In conclusion, teachers were well aware of instructional planning elements and performed well, but they had more difficulties in implementation than in recognition. When their recognition and implementation were evaluated by the type of institution and preschooler age in charge, the national and public kindergarten teachers were rated highest, and those who were in charge of five-year- olds in Western age were rated highest. The above-mentioned findings suggest that it's necessary to take actions to boost the recognition and implementation of teachers in relation to instructional planning elements.

  • Purpose: School safety has recently become an important issue. In order to make a school environment safer, surveillance cameras have been installed in the facilities. The number of installations has been increasing rapidly since they have been considered widely recognizable and highly effective. However, conflicts between faculty and staff in installing and operating the system have also been increasing. In terms of school safety, these individuals'' cooperation is more than necessary. It is judged that looking into how they perceive the system could provide us with some suggestions on how to manage the related issues. The purpose of this study is to understand the perspective of faculty over closed-circuit television (CCTV) and make suggestions by analyzing their actions. Approach: In order to achieve the research objectives, I surveyed administrative actions such as the processing of official documents and CCTV policies for teachers and administrative staff of public schools in the Sejong Office of Education. In addition, I analyzed the behavior of those managing personal information and school safety-related documents along with the degree of complying with the policies. Finding: First, the correspondence rate of documents was high when there were designated document processors. Second, the acceptance level of documents in preschool was relatively low when there were designated processors. Third, the degree of accepting the policies and complying with them was higher in newly established schools than in existing schools. I found differences in the perception of how to handle the CCTV operations and the related work among the two groups of participants. In addition, I made suggestions on how to resolve the conflicts between them. Value: In this study, the education authorities quantified and measured the recognition and acceptance of faculty and staff regarding CCTV at each school level. Results showed that the active role of education authorities can make positive changes in how faculty and staff perceive the CCTV system and the problems surrounding it through school administrative action. In this regard, these results are meaningful in reducing the conflicts among the two groups and improving the organizational culture.
