오늘날 세계는 일반국민과 과학기술의 상호관계에 대해 두 가지 큰 논쟁에 빠져있다. 하나는 국민의 과학기술에 대한 공동체 유대감을 어떻게 형성하느냐하는 것과, 또 다른 하나는 과학기술에 대한 일반국민의 이해 수준을 어떻게 측정하느냐에 대한 것이다. 다시 말해서 이제 과학계는 금연캠페인이나 환경캠페인의 성공처럼, 과학기술 지식을 활용하는 데 국민의 참여를 불러오도록 적극적으로 나서야 하며, 그것을 통해 과학기술에 대한 국민의 이해를 높일 수 있다는 주장이다. 즉 일반국민의 과학기술에 대한 공동체 유대감을 높이는 길은 그들의 관심에 근거할 때 가능하며, 그런 과정에서 과학기술에 대한 이해도 높아진다. 예컨대, 지금 우리 국민의 최대 관심사는 급성호흡기장애로 죽음까지 불러오는‘사스 (SARS)’확산과 북한의‘핵무기’소유이다. 그렇다면, 과학기술계와 국가가 전적으로 나서서 그 문제들을 해결하는 모습을 보일 때, 과학기술에 대한 국민의 공동체 유대감이 형성될 수 있고, 나아가 병리학과 핵물리학 자체에 대한 일반국민의 이해도 증진될 수 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 맥락에서, 과학영재 학생들의 과학기술에 대한 이해도를 알아보기 위해 요즈음 국제 사회적으로 커다란 이슈가 되고 있는 북한 핵문제에 대해 과학영재들은 어떤 생각을 갖고 있으며, 어느 정도 이해하고 있는지를 설문조사 하였으며, 이를 남학생과 여학생을 구분하여 분석하였다. 설문에 응답한 학생들은 모두 85명으로 공주대학교 과학영재교육원 영재교육 프로그램에 참여하고 있다.

세계 플라스틱공학자협회의 연례 기술회의가 5월2일부터 4일동안 뉴욕 맨하탄에서 열려 7백50여편의 기술논문이 발표되었다. 이 협회의 압출공정분과에서 15년간 활동해온 필자는 이번 회의에서 '플라스틱사업에 종사하면서 관찰한 고분자기술 개발과 미래'라는 제목으로 주제연설을 했다. 4일동안 열린 이번 회의를 지켜보면서 그 어느 때보다 산ㆍ학ㆍ연간의 유대강화와 공동연구의 중요성을 우리에게 상기시켜 주었다.

지역사회는 단순하게 공간적 개념을 넘어, 지역사회 구성원들이 서로 교류하고 협력하여 각자에게 만들어진 연합감, 유대감, 친밀성이라는 의식이 공존해야 지역사회가 유지되고 성장하는 힘을 갖는다. 지역사회 의식은 지역사회 및 공동체에 대해서 개인적으로 또는 집단적으로 느끼는 심리적 유대감을 말한다. 이러한 지역사회 의식이 범죄두려움에 미치는 영향에 대해서 알아보도록 한다.

we explored the case of 'H-Community', a private organization that supports alcohol-dependent homeless people living in the Jokbang village, based on the awareness that "the key to social assistance for alcohol-dependent homeless may be an influential relationship to replace the role of their families." The data collection and analysis followed the research that Spradley presented, and the result was 'living in the balance rather than the great affection'. However, the density of the relationship and emotional bond appeared different, which had something to do with their respective life processes and their health, age and economic conditions. These differences were categorized and suggested as arguments through 'a family-alternative relationship', 'emotional bond' and 'participation'. Based on the results, the conclusions presented the implications needed for alcohol-dependent homeless people.

Geological mapping, borehole drilling, electrical resistivity, and seismic tomography surveys were conducted in order to map underground cavities and better understand the mechanisms driving subsidence in a limestone region in Korea. Limestone outcrops in the study area generally alternate between calcite-rich and calcite-poor rock. The results reveal that in areas experiencing subsidence, cavities occur mainly around soil-rock boundaries at depths of 7~14 m. These results are based on comparative analyses of electrical resistivity, seismic tomography, and borehole logging data. The volumes of the cavities are relatively small in a range of 558~835 ㎥ and they have a shape typical of suffosion sinkholes, which are typically found where sandy soils overlie bedrock cavities.

The attitude of community members plays a key role for sponsorship response. Theory of identification is very important to understand the attitude of community members. Community identification can effect to behavior and attitude to sponsors of community members. This study examines antecedents of community identification and relations between community identification and sponsorship response. I found that sense of community effect to community identification and community loyalty. Satisfaction of need, membership, and emotional ties effect to community identification and community loyalty. But influence effect only to community loyalty. Community identification effect to community loyalty. And community loyalty effect to sponsorship response.

In this paper, I intend to focus on the 1991 racial tension and violence portrayed in Anna Devear Smith's book Fires in the Mirror, which was published in book form in 1993. I make use of a series of interviews with many of those involved in the conflicts, which were based on the Jewish Holocaust and the history of African American enslavement. In Crown Heights, the black community and the Jewish community have each suffered terrible losses, but individuals and communities become rhetorically attached to foundational historical traumas that lie at the center of each group's cultural identity rather than try to understand each other's pain. Smith lets this rhetoric dominate Fires in the Mirror by putting contradictory monologues side by side in order to show how discourses on 'slavery' and 'the Holocaust' still have control over specific ethnic communities. My intention is not to delve into the conflict between the Jewish and black communities exclusively. Rather, I attempt to form an understanding of the problems of the critical/theoretical tenets proposed by 'the rhetoric of holocaust,' including the Jewish Holocaust and the black experience of enslavement. Such an understanding will help us see the failure in the theories, illuminating the ways that such rhetoric should have recognized its own violence and helped to forge a new relationship between racism and anti-Semitism. Fires in the Mirror mirrors back to us the ways that 'the Holocaust' betrays the possibility of error to indicate its own susceptibility to blindness. The cracks brought forth by conflicting narratives enable readers to observe wounds being healed and the possibility of new narrative looming up.

한국 사회에서 동영상 컨텐츠와 UCC는 새로운 문화 현상으로 그리고 새로운 광고 도구로써 많은 기대를 받고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 한국의 대표 동영상 컨텐츠 사이트인 아프리카 사용자들을 대상으로 하여, 사용 활동을 기준으로 사용자 유형을 구분하고, 각 유형별 주요 이용 특성을 탐색하고자 하였다. 동영상 이용 활동 및 동영상 컨텐츠 커뮤니티 활동에 있어서의 사회적 자본 특성 문항, 총 96문항을 도구로 하여, 총 39명의 동영상 컨텐츠 이용자 활동을 분석하였다. 분석결과 동영상 컨텐츠 이용자 행동은 '깍쟁이', '시청자', '휴머니스트'의 세가지 유형으로 구분되었다. 또한 이 세 유형은 사이버 공동체에서의 사회적 자본 특성으로 언급되는 유대감, 신뢰, 규범, 교환 및 호혜성, 혜택 등 다섯가지 사회적 자본 특성에서 서로 다른 특성을 보이는 것으로 확인되었다. 본 연구는 동영상 컨텐츠 사이트를 단순히 동영상 컨텐츠를 교환하거나 소비하는 공간이 아닌 새로운 사이버 공동체의 장으로 활용할 수 있는 단서를 제공했다는데 그 의의가 있다.
