Purpose: Ground subsidence due to cavity can bring about various problems, such as casualties, decrease of the safety of the structures, and indirect social costs. Therefore, ground subsidence should be prevented through the exploration and recovery of the cavity under the pavements. Method: In this study, GPR exploration method was carried out on both actual roadway and mock-up site to compensate for the problems caused by excavation and restoration process. Result: This study compared the cavity scales obtained from GPR exploration results and the direct excavation of the identified cavity. It was confirmed that the predicted soil depth by GPR exploration was similar to the identified soil depth, but the predicted cavity scale by GPR exploration overestimated the longitudinal and cross-sectional widths compared to the identified cavity scale. Conclusion: Based on the correlation between the predicted cavity scales by GPR exploration, it is possible to qualitatively estimate the cavity scales using the empirical formula proposed in this study.
Purpose: In the case of cavity discovered by ground penetrating radar exploration, it is necessary to accurately predict the filling amount in the cavity in advance, fill the cavity sufficiently and exert strength to ensure stability and prevent ground subsidence. Method: The cavity waveform analysis method by GPR exploration and the method using the cavity shape imaging equipment were performed to measure the cavity shape with irregular size and shape of the actual cavity, and the amount of cavity filling of the injection material was calculated during rapid restoration. Results: The expected filling amount was presented by analyzing the correlation between the cavity size and the filling amount of injection material according to the cavity scale and soil depth through the method by GPR exploration and the cavity scale calculation using the cavity shaping equipment. Conclusion: The cavity scale measured by the cavity imaging equipment was found to be in the range of 20% to 40% of the cavity scale by GPR exploration. In addition, the filling amount of injection material compared to the cavity scale predicted by GPR exploration was in the range of about 60% to 140%, and the filling amount of the injection material compared to the cavity size by the cavity shaping equipment was confirmed to be about 260% to 320%.

This paper presents the influence of the underground structure (such as cavern and tunnels) behavior according to the rock joint orientation and underground cavern size. In order to perform this research, numerical and experimental studies are carried out. Stress aspect was assessed by quantitative according two kind of factor. In the experimental study, the laboratory model tests are performed in the several ground conditions with different underground cavern size. The results obtained from the model tests are also verified and evaluated using the numerical analysis. Due to the underground cavern, it is found from this study that the stresses developed in archcrown, side wall of underground are increased with increasing the underground cavern size. It is also investigated that the rock joint direction is one of main influence factor as risk factor, to maintain the underground cavern stability. It may be expected that this research will provide the very useful information to evaluate the underground cavern stability.
This study aims to examine the distinctions in evaluation index items between overseas and domestic ecological area-related systems, derive analytical indicators, and assess recently completed apartment complexes before and after the implementation of overall ecological area ratios. The objective is to analyse variances in the application of ecological area characteristics, categorizing them into ecological area analysis indicators and presenting their implications. The spatial scope covers completed apartment complexes in both metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas. Thirty-six completed apartment complexes were selected for analysis, and basic ecological area data were compiled. Subsequently, the data was utilized to categorize three analysis indicators-ecological area ratio, ecological area diversity, and ecological area connectivity-by metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas, as well as by type of apartment complex (sale housing versus rental housing) and size (large-scale, medium-scale, and small-scale). Results of the analysis indicate higher ecological area ratios and greater diversity in ecological area spatial types in metropolitan areas compared to non-metropolitan areas, and in pre-sale housing complexes compared to rental housing complexes. Mediumand large-scale apartment complexes exhibit higher ecological area ratios, with ecological area diversity being more pronounced. Ecological area connectivity reveals more numerous and varied connection points and types in metropolitan areas than in non-metropolitan areas. Implications of this study suggest that large-scale development should prioritize securing ecological area ratios and diversity in apartment complexes. Enhancing biodiversity necessitates establishing connections within and beyond the ecological area network of the complex. Future research should focus on linking the ecological area network within the complex.

The multi-utility tunnel is one of the essential social infrastructures, but it is difficult to establish the multi-utility tunnel due to the scale of the National Land Planning and Utilization Act (2 million square meters). In this paper, we analyze the feasibility of establishing the multi-utility tunnel in the existing city in order to activate the multi-utility tunnel installation. For the feasibility analysis, the scale was classified into four categories based on related laws, and related indicators were selected and evaluated using feasibility and economic analysis. Three kinds/four kinds of suitable multi-utility tunnel for the scale of the existing city were shown, and five kinds of multi-utility tunnel were considered suitable for the new city over 2 million square meters. The results of the overall score evaluation of the tunnel type of the existing city and the open type of the new city of 2 million square meters or more, which is the obligation to install the multi-utility tunnel, do not show much difference and suggest the validity of the installation of the multi-utility tunnel in various scale of the existing city.

During enlarging an existing tunnel under operation, unexpected excessive overbreaks and large cavities around the tunnel were found. It was an issue that they might influence the stability the new tunnel. The overbreaks and cavities are assumed that they were attributed to excessive blasting under the condition of insufficient ground investigation. To enlarge the existing tunnel safely, therefore, a remedy measure for the overbreaks and cavities is suggested.

The rate of automobile ownerships has been increased significantly in multi-family housing sites so that government has made new parking regulations increasing the rate of parking supply by the high demand of parking lots in multi-family housing sites. However, the new regulation of parking supply has several problems that it applies to only new multi-family housing sites and disregards to the locational distinctions around the sites. It also has reduced to the open spaces in the sites and increased the price of housing units especially to the small size units of multi-family housing sites by increasing the number of underground parking lots. Furthermore, the residents have not been equal opportunity to access their parking lots even though they have been charged to equal amount of financial burden for the construction of underground parking lots. This research aims to relieve above problems by analysing parking supply and demand management strategies both domestic and foreign countries, and suggest to new parking management system for multi-family housing sites in 21st Centuries. This research reveals that most of multi-family housing sites want to be applied 1) diverse parking supply regulations considering the locational distinctions of sites, 2) parking lot ownership programs, 3) charging parking fees to second vehicles, 4) increasing parking lots both in the sites and around the sites, 5) enforcing police power to the parking violation vehicles to their sites. Especially, the multi-family housing sites consisting of small & medium size of units and locating in small & medium size of cites strongly want to be accepted new Parking regulations considered their locational and social distinctions and applied police power to the parking violation vehicles in their sites compared to the other multi-family housing sites.
Geological mapping, borehole drilling, electrical resistivity, and seismic tomography surveys were conducted in order to map underground cavities and better understand the mechanisms driving subsidence in a limestone region in Korea. Limestone outcrops in the study area generally alternate between calcite-rich and calcite-poor rock. The results reveal that in areas experiencing subsidence, cavities occur mainly around soil-rock boundaries at depths of 7~14 m. These results are based on comparative analyses of electrical resistivity, seismic tomography, and borehole logging data. The volumes of the cavities are relatively small in a range of 558~835 ㎥ and they have a shape typical of suffosion sinkholes, which are typically found where sandy soils overlie bedrock cavities.
This study aims to understand the community sense and need for community programs for large scale cooperative rental housing residents, and to set the direction of the construction plan. To this end, a survey was conducted on visitors and contractors of the model house in Westaybyeolnae. As a result of the analysis, the most visitors to the model house were in their 20s and 30s, while the number of contractors in their 30s was the most. Most of the model house visitors currently do not participate in community activities, but the contractors wanted to interact with neighbors about once a week. The contractors had high demands for sports facilities and child-rearing facilities, and the most demanded for living cooperatives and child care services. However, the range of neighbors required by age, the degree of meeting, common facilities and programs required were different.
