Estimation of Air Pollution by Lichens in Chongju (地衣類에 의한 精州市 大己汚染度 評價)

  • The lichen is generally used as a bio-indicator for the estimation of air pollution. The purpose of this research is to diagnose the level of air pollution by means of lichen Chongju region, relative to the direction of the dominant Wind(WNW) and the distance from the air pollution source. As a result it reveals that the industrial estate, its surroundings and inner city are confronting lichen desert phenomenon, According to the I.A.P index the average SO$_2$density in Chongju city in estimated above 0.03 ppm. However, the number of lichen species and its coverage are increased as the distance becomes further from the pollution source.

  • 시화, 반원공단은 수도권의 공장 분산정책에 의해 형성된 다양한 업종의 영세한 중소기업에 의해 구성된 공단이다. 서해안과 인접한 지역에 위치하며, 풍하방향에 배후 주거단지가 입주하면서 악취민원이 지속되고 있는 지역이다. 이러한 악취현상에 대응하기 위해 관련부처와 연구기관에서는 다양한 방법으로 악취현상의 규명노력과 저감대책을 시행하여 왔다 지금까지의 대부분의 악취 측정에 관한 연구는 주요 악취 발생지점에서의 악취원인물질을 규명하려는 노력에 집중되었고, 이 지역 악취현상의 공간적인 분포를 파악하기 위한 자료는 부족하였다. Characteristics of Non-point Source Runoff in Housing and Industrial Area during Rainfall (강우시 주택 및 공단지역의 비점오염원 유출특성)

  • Non-point source pollutant is exerting a serious influence on the water quality, since the characteristics of stormwater runoff is varied by the land usage pattern of an area and a basin, and all sorts of pollutants on the earth in rainfall flow into the urban stream. This study estimated EMC of each pollutant to investigate the characteristics of stormwater runoff by separating the urban area as the housing area and industrial area. As a result of the analysis, the first flush effect occurred in the non-point source pollutant of housing area and industrial area, as the runoff concentration gradually reduces after it rapidly increases in the initial rainfall, and in case of the non-point source pollutant the control of first stage rain-water. It is considered to require the continuous follow-up study such as the scale of long-term rainfall event and water quality data, land usage pattern by GIS method, database of topography and geological features, and so forth.

  • 본 시스템은 1995년에 추진된 지역정보화 사업의 추진과제인 $\boxDr$공단중심의 지역정보시스템$\boxUl$을 확대 발전시키고 시스템 운영의 효율화를 도모하고자 DB를 통합하여 확대 재 구축함으로써 서비스 수준을 한 단계 높이고 인터넷을 통한 웹 정보 이용 활성화 차원에서 추진되었다. 기 구축되었던 $\boxDr$공단중심의 지역정보시스템$\boxUl$은 정보화를 통한 지역경제 발전에 일익을 담당하고자 관. 산. 연이 참여한 지역정보화 사업이다. 이번에 확대 개발된 $\boxDr$과학산업정보서비스시스템$\boxUl$은 연구개발정보센터와 광주광역시, (주)광주광역정보센터가 매칭펀드에 의한 대응자금으로 구축한 시스템으로 크게 10개 산업단지 기본정보, 입주기업체정보, 기업지원정보, 전문인력정보, S/W패키지정보, 장비/설비정보, 기술개발결과정보, 지역소장 도서정보 등을 중심으로 구성하였다. 특히 650여개 지역 기업체 홈페이지를 각각 개별적으로 특성 있게 구축하여 지역기업활동 지원 및 수출진흥을 도모하고 지역경제 활성화에 기여토록 하고자 한다.

Study on the Screening System of Organic Resources for Agricultural Utilization (유기성 자원의 농업적 활용을 위한 선별체계 연구)

  • This study was conducted to find suitable methods for screening organic resources useful for compost. Twenty-seven industrial and domestic sludges were collected from various cities and industrial areas. Contents of organic matters in the sludges were in the range of 79.3-98.0%, and the contents were much higher than the regulation level (60%) for raw materials of compost. Contents of total nitrogen were in the range of 0.8-2.6%. Contents of Fe and Al were very high. Content of HEM was highest in textile sludge ($257mg\;kg^{-1}$) and the contents in the others were in the range of $12.6-90.3mg\;kg^{-1}$. Content of PAHs was lowest in food sludge ($739.1{\mu}g\;kg^{-1}$ and pulp-mill sludge had the highest PAHs content ($3461.8{\mu}g\;kg^{-1}$). $Microtox^{(R)}$ $EC_{50}$ values were higher in the sludges which were classified as a possible material in composting after analysis and investigation. Lettuce root elongation and $EC_{50}$ values were relatively lower in pulp-mill sludge, sewage sludge 3 (Large city), food sludge and leather sludge. Therefore, mineral nutrients, heavy metals, organic compounds (HEM, PAHs, PCBs), and bioassay ($Microtox^{(R)}$ $EC_{50}$, Relative root elongation test) are recommended to be included in the screening system of raw material of compost in addition to the current regulation with organic matter and 8 heavy metals.

The study on prevalence of color vision loss by residential difference of children (지역에 따른 어린이 색각이상의 유병율에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigated prevalence of color vision loss different from children's residence. The study subjects are 3 to 6 grade's children of elementary school in four areas. The blood lead and urinary mercury were analysed using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy. All of participations' blood lead and urine mercury concentration were below suggested level of concern such as criteria by CDC and ATSDR. Color vision was assessed by the Lanthony D-15 desaturated panel. Color vision loss was quantitatively established by the Color Confusion Index (CCI) and qualitatively classified by type of acquired dyschromatopsia according to Verriest's classification. The prevalence of color vision loss and CCI value for children in industrial area was significantly higher than other areas(p<0.05). However blood lead and urinary mercury concentration level was not correlated to the color vision loss. Therefore we believed that other environmental neurotoxic substance except metal had an effects on color vision loss for children in industrial area.

시선집중, 선진안전사업장 - 안전에 절대 타협 없는 인본주의 경영 전개, 한미약품(주) 평택공단

  • 경기도 평택시에 위치하고 있는 한미약품(주) 평택공단. 이 공단이 지난 2007년 준공됐을 당시 의약 제약 업계에서는 각별한 관심을 보였었다. 세파플랜트, 바이오플랜트 등 단 두 개의 공장만 들어섰지만 한미약품 자체적으로 '공단'이라고 명명할 만큼 어느 곳과도 비교할 수 없을 정도의 규모로 지어졌기 때문이다. 특히 이곳 세파플랜트는 국내 세파계 항생제의 약 70%까지 공급할 수 있는 전용 공장의 면모를 갖추고 있어 시장에 막대한 영향을 미칠 것으로 예상되기도 했다. 여기에 더해 이곳은 지역 안전인들 사이에도 남다른 관심을 받았다. 공장이 설계될 때부터 근로자들의 안전을 최우선 가치로 삼아 재해발생 요소를 최소화했기 때문이다. 아울러 공단이 가동된 직후부터 현재가지 빈틈없는 안전관리를 전개하면서 말 그대로 '안전 사업장'으로 유명세를 타고 있는 것이다. 안전경영을 바탕으로 제약산업을 선도해나가고 있는 한미약품(주) 평택공단을 찾아가 봤다.

연안대도시에서 강하먼지 중 수용성 이온의 침적량과 해염입자의 영향

  • 해염농축계수는 해양기원인 $Cl^{-}$, $K^{+}$ 그리고 $Mg^{2+}$ 는 1.0 이상이고 10이하의 분포를 보였으나, $Ca^{2+}$${SO_4}^{2-}$는 10 이상의 높은 값을 나타냈으며, ${So_4}^{2-}$는 상업지역, 공단지역, 주거지역 그리고 농업지역 순으로 조사되었다. 지역별 비해염 성분의 기여율은 $F^{-}$, $Ca^{2+}$ , ${So_4}^{2-}$, $K^{+}$, $Cl^{-}$ 그리고 $Mg^{2+}$ 의 순으로 나타났으며, 인위적 기원인 ${SO_4}^{2-}$은 상업지역(97.5%)이 가장 높은 해안지역 (71.5%)이 가장 낮게 나타났다. 해염입자의 기여율은 겨율 > 여름 > 가을 > 봄의 순으로서 겨울철 (47.4%)이 가장 높고, 봄철 (22.4%)이 가장 낮게 나타났다.

Health and environmental risk assesment of air pollutants in Gyeongju and its vicinities(I) (경주 주변지역 대기오염물질의 보건.환경 위해성 평가(I))

  • To protect the citizens' health of Gyeongju and to secure basic data for the assessment of health and environmental risk, distribution characteristics of meteorological elements were investigated and numerical simulation of wind field using RAMS model was carried out. In addition, measurement and analysis of air pollutants, forecasting the behavior air pollutants using ISC-AEROMOD view, and health and environmental risk-influenced zones were defined through managing air polluting materials to prevent health damage and property damage. According to the survey results of air pollution in Gyeongju and surroundings, average annual concentration of air pollutants in Gyeongju was slightly lower than that in Pohang and Ulsan areas, but concentration of particulate matters and nitrogen dioxide at Gyeongju Station Square and Yonggang Crossing were sometimes higher than that in Pohang and Ulsan areas. Results of the modeling of moving and diffusion of air pollutants that affect citizens' health showed that parts of the 1st through 4th industrial complexes together with POSCO were included in particulate matters and sulfur dioxide influenced areas in Pohang Steel Complex area, and that Haedo-dong, Sangdae-dong, Jecheol-dong and Jangheung-dong in Pohangnam-gu represented locally worsened air quality due to a quantity of air pollutant emission from dense steel industries and large scale industrial facilities.
