  • Korean natura1 zeolite with fe1dspar and illite as impurities was purified by an air c1assification method. X-ray powder diffraction ana1yses showed that the air c1assification effectively separated zeolite and impurities, and reduce the amount of impurity of the natura1 zeolite. The zeolite with air c1assification was treated with 1N NaOH solutions at temperatures at 100, 150, 200 ℃ for 17hours. The obtained hydrotherma1 treatment of phase change to philli1site and ana1cime from mordenite and clinopti10lite.

  • In this study, we performed numerical simulations on a circulating air classifier using a commercial computational fluid dynamics program. The variations in the grade efficiency, the cut-size and the cut-sharpness were calculated and discussed. By controlling the rotating speed of the main fan, the cut-size could be rapidly increased. However the linearity of the cut-size variation with respect to the main fan speed was not sufficient for application to contaminated soil classification processes. On the other hand, by varying the rotating speed of the classifying fan, the cut-size gradually decreased and could be precisely adjusted. Using both the main fan and the classifying fan, we could achieve larger cut-sharpness values and better classifying performances.

  • Defatted soybean meal (DSM) was microparticulated at cut-off whell speed of 9.000 rpm and air-classified into fine and coarse fractions at air classifying wheel speeds (ACWS) of 21,000, 18,000, 15,000 12,000 and 9,000 rpm stepwisely. Protein and ash content increased while lipid, carbohydrates and dietary fiber content decreased with decreasing ACWS. Amino acid composition and amino acid content of defatted soybean meal were similar to those of raw soybeans with aspartic and glutamic acid, the major amino acids. The yield and particle size increased with decreasing ACWS and mean particle size ranged from $4.9{\mu}m$ to $14.2{\mu}m$. The particles were oval-shaped with sharp corners. Water holding capacity, oil holding capacity and emulsion capacity slightly decreased with decreasing ACWS. Soybean curds formed showed different characteristics depending on the coagulant used and on the substitution ratio of full fat soybean flour with microparticulated DSM. Microparticulated DSM could successfully substitute wheat flour up to 10% level without bring no-ticiable beany flavor in the cakes.
