Effect of the Conducting Agent on Characteristics of Cathode for Zn/Air Batteries (도전재 종류 및 함량에 따른 아연공기전지의 cathode특성연구)

  • Zinc Air battery obtain their energy density advantage over the other batteries by utilizing ambient oxygen as the cathode materials, and reusing cathode as recycled form. And specific capacity of zinc powder is as high as 820 mAh/g. However, if the pore size in cathode is small then the flow rate of air decreased, and as a result of that discharge voltage of batteries becomes low. We focused on resistance and porosity of cathode. So we studied the effects of conducting agents to zinc air batteries performance, capacity, power density, average discharge voltage, resistance. And we also measured porosity of cathode by the ASTM. So we have got optimum contents of conducting agent.

  • Improving fuel consumption, particularly that of commercial vehicles, has become a global concern. The reduction in logistics cost has been a key issue in efforts to improve fuel economy and efficiency of transportation equipment. Typical technologies for reducing reduce fuel usage include air resistance reduction technologies, tire rolling resistance technologies, and idle technologies among others. Air resistance technology is a highly effective method that can be easily applied in a short period. As with air resistance technology, several devices involving side skirt, boat tail and gap fairing have been developed based on an analytical 3-D modeling technique for reducing air resistance attributed to the vehicle configuration. The devices were on a 45 feet tractor-trailer and the emission test was done using PEMS equipment. Fuel economy was evaluated by introducing several devices to reduce outer air resistance. The test was conducted by changing the experimental method of SAE J1321 Joint TMC/SAE Fuel Consumption Test Procedure - Type II test. As a result, air resistance decreased by at least 15 % and fuel economy improved by at least 13 %. This study sought to reduce greenhouse gas and improve fuel economy by applying several devices to a test vehicle to lower air resistance.

When Zinc Air battery discharged at low current, then discharge voltage profile has very flat pattern until reach to end of voltage. But, when Zinc Air battery discharged at high current, then discharge voltage and energy becomes very low. So we focused on resistance and porosity of cathode with contents of PTFE. Wf studied on the effects of PTFE on performance of Zinc Air batteries. So we have got optimum contents of PTFE binder.

Development of Prediction Program for the Towing Condition Associated with Various Towing Operations of a Disabled Ship (사고선박의 다양한 예인계획에 따른 예인상태 추정 프로그램 개발)

  • When a disabled ship is being towed in a seaway, the speed and direction of the towed ship are estimated by using the towing force and direction of the selected tug boats at the predicted sea conditions including the wind and currents. In this paper, prediction method at the towing conditions of the various towing operations for a disabled ship are studied. The proposed calculation method suggests firstly the method to import the speed and resistance of the forward direction of the towed ship calculated by the existing computer program, second, the method to calculate the speed and resistance of the towed direction of the towed ship acquired from the selected tug boats at the initial towing conditions and lastly, the method to calculate the speed and resistance of the towed direction for the towed ship at the stable towing conditions. These calculation methods have been applied to the computer program and this program has been approved to be a useful program, capable of appropriately predicting the towed ship's conditions.

  • Appropriate selection of the starter is essential for successful starting of the gas-turbine engine. Thus, aerodynamic drag during starting phase should be analyzed to assess the feasibility of the starter. In this paper, aerodynamic drag is modeled based on the speed profile from the engine coast down test, and it is scaled with respect to the target engine by comparing the compressor load. Afterward, the govern equation of the starting phase is developed with the torque model of the starter, and the design scheme to select the feasible starter will be finally suggested. The proposed model of starting phase will be useful to perform a preliminary design of the starting system of the gas-turbine engine.

Antibiotic Susceptibility to Isolated Bacteria and Fungi from the Indoor-air (실내 공기중에서 세균 및 진균의 분포와 분리균의 항생물질 감수성)

  • This investigation was performed to isloate and identify the total bacteria, Staphylococcus spp. and fungi from the indoor air exposed for 30 minutes on the blood agar plate at the 27 places in a hospital. Antibiotic susceptibility tests of the isolated bacteria were also studied. The mean numbers of total bacteria, Staphylococci spp. and fungi were 26, 17, and 2 in the summer and 19, 8, and 2 in the winter, respectively. Staphylococcus epidermidis was the most common isolated bacteria, and the next was Staphylococcus aureus, Aerococcus spp., Micrococcus spp., and Bacillus spp. from the indoor-air of hospital. Aspergillus spp., Cephalosporum spp., Curvularia spp., penicillium spp., and Phialophora spp. was frequently isolated from the indoor-air of hospital. The 109 strains of isolated Staphylococcus epidermidis sho-wed resistance to tetracycline(45.0%), methicillin(40.2%), erythromycin(31.2%), and kanamycin(24.8%). The 76 strains of isolated Staphylococcus aureus showed resistance to erythromycin(71.7%), methicillin(63.2%), kanamycin (44.7%), tetracycline(39.5%), and ampicillin(32.9). The 67 strains of isolated Aerococcus spp. showed resistance to erythromycin(26.9%), methicillin(25.4%), kanamycin(22%), and tetracycline(22.4%). The 48 strains of isolated Micrococus spp. showed resistance to tetracycline(27.0%), methicillin(22.9%), erythromycin(22.9%), and kanamycin(20.8%).

Aerodynamic Drag Reduction in Cylindrical Model Using DBD Plasma Actuator (DBD 플라즈마 구동기를 이용한 원통모델의 공기저항저감)

  • Dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma actuator was designed to reduce aerodynamic drag in a cylindrical model and wind tunnel test was performed at various wind velocities. In addition, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis and flow visualization were used to investigate the effect of the plasma on the flow stream in the cylinderical model. At low wind velocity, the plasma actuator had no effects because flow separation did not appear. The aerodynamic drag was reduced by 14% at 14 m/s and by 27% at 17 m/s, respectively. It was confirmed by CFD analysis and flow visualization that the DBD plasma actuator decreased in pressure difference around the cylindrical model, thus decreasing the magnitude of wake vortex.

Durability of Concrete Using Insulation Performance Improvement Materials (단열성능 향상 재료를 사용한 콘크리트의 내구성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we tested to develop and apply structural insulation performance improvement concrete to field, which had compressive strength in 24 MPa and thermal conductivity twice as much as normal concrete. After experiment about slump and air contents, combination product of Plain and calcined diatomite powder showed reduction of slump and air contents and combination product with micro foam cell admixture, we cannot find result of slump and air contents reduction. Unit weight of combination product with insulation performance improvement materials decreased more than that of Plain. In the test of compressive strength, compressive strength of insulation performance improvement concrete decreased more than that of Plain but was content with 24 MPa. thermal conductivity of insulation performance improvement concrete tended to decrease. Freezing and thawing resistance of insulation performance improvement concrete was similar to that of Plain. In carbonation resistance test, combination product with calcined diatomite powder showed the result which was similar to that of Plain. In carbonation resistance test, combination product with micro foam cell admixture showed a increase compared to that of Plain and length variation of combination product generally increased.
