The Effect of Water Compressibility on a Rigid Body Movement in a Water-filled Duct Driven by Compressed Air (압축공기로 움직이는 관 내부 수중 이동물체의 거동에 미치는 물의 압축성 영향)

  • The motion of a projectile initiated by the release of highly pressurized air is simulated presuming the flow field as a two dimensional one. The effects of water compressibility on projectile movements are investigated, comparing results based on the Fluent VOF model where water is treated as an incompressible medium with those from the presently developed VOF scheme. The present model considers compressibility of both air and water. The Fluent results show that the body moves farther and at higher speeds than the present ones. As time proceeds, the relative difference of speed and displacement between the two results drops substantially, after acoustic waves in water traverse and return the full length of the tube several times. To estimate instantaneous accelerations, however, requires implementation of the water compressibility effect as discrepancies between them do not decrease even after several pressure wave cycles.

  • IRR형태의 액체 램제트 추진기관의 공기 흡입구 유동과 내부 연소 유동을 파악하기 위한 수치적 해석을 수행하였다. 해석은 다원 혼합기체에 대한 압축성 Navier-Stoke 방정식과 공기/Kerosene에 대한 화학 반응을 고려하였으며, 결합된 형태의 k-$\omega$/k-$\varepsilon$ 2 방정식 난류모델을 이용하였다. 기본 유동 해법으로는 고차의 시간 및 공간 정확도를 가지는 근사 Riemann 해법과 LU-SGS 방법을 이용하였다.

  • Dehumidification systems have been developed for the various applications, especially for the production of dry compressed air. Compressed air producing system attach $\varepsilon$ d with dehumidification unit have advantages such as high reliability, low error ratio, comfortable working conditions, etc. Conventional dehumidification systems have several economical drawbacks like high electric cost, high cost of adsorbent and it is not environmentally friendly system because freezing agent like a Freon has been used. Membrane dryer is emerging system which have economical advantages and environmental merits.

A Study on B Class Fire Extinguishing Performance of Air Ratio in the Compressed Air Foam System (압축공기포 소화설비의 공기포비에 따른 B급 소화성능 연구)

  • This research is to evaluate the fire extinguishing performance at a mixing ratio of pressurized air in the fire extinguishing system of compressed air foam (CAF) which injects compressed air into foam liquid and then discharging. The experimental device is made use of exclusive foam extinguishing facility for compressed air foam that is produces based on Canada National Laboratory and UL 162 standard, apply model of oil fire (B Class) 20 unit in accordance with "Standard of Model Approval and Product Inspection for Fire Extinguishing Agent" to the fire Extinguishing model. Compressed air is injected through the air mixture and study the tendency depending on increasing air foam ratio 1 : 4, 1 : 7, 1 : 10. In addition, the comparison experiments between synthetic surfactants foam and AFFF carry out with it at the air foam ratio 1 : 4. As a result, in the condition of same discharging flow, fire extinguishing effect of AFFF is the fastest at the air foam ratio 1 : 7 and the slowest at 1 : 10. Moreover, the fire extinguishing effect of AFFF in the comparison expeiments between AFFF and synthetic surfactants foam is faster than the other.

  • A compressible multiphase flow was investigated using a DIM consisting of seven equations, including the fifth-order MLP and a modified HLLC Riemann solver to achieve a precise interface structure of liquid and gas. The numerical methods were verified by comparing the flow structures of the high-pressure water and low-pressure air in the shock tube. A 2D air-helium shock-bubble interaction at the incident shock wave condition (Mach number 1.22) was numerically solved and verified using the experimental results.

Evaluation of Workability and Strength in Concrete with Cellulose Fibers (셀룰로오즈 섬유 함유 콘크리트의 작업 성능 및 강도 평가)

  • Cracking due to material behavior like drying shrinkage easily occurs since tensile strength in concrete is very low at initial curing stage. In this paper, workability such as air content and slump was evaluated on CFC(Cellulose Fiber Concrete) with 0.0 ~ 2.0% of fiber addition, and the tests for tensile/compressive strength were performed. With increasing addition ratio of fiber, air content and slump kept similar level to 1.0kg/㎥ of addition ratio, and this trend was effective to 2 hours after mixing. Strength was enhanced with increasing addition ratio, which showed 7.0 ~ 9.0% for compressive strength and 7.0 ~ 22.0% for tensile strength, respectively. The tensile strength increased relatively more, which show the addition of cellulose fiber was very effective to crack resistance. The workability in CFC can be guaranteed for 2 hours in the following conditions like 2 minutes of mixing period and 1.0kg/㎥ of addition ratio of fiber.

  • A computational work has been performed to investigate the aerodynamics of a projectile which is launched from a ballistic range. A moving coordinate method for a multi-domain technique is employed to simulate unsteady projectile flows with a moving boundary. The variation of a virtual mass and the shape of projectile are added to the axisymmetric unsteady Euler equation systems. The present computational results properly predict the velocity, acceleration, drag histories and the major flow characteristics of the projectile.

A Design Study for Improving Thermal Efficiency of Combined Cycle Power Plants using LNG Cold Energy - Design and Off-design Modelling of Gas-turbine Based Combined Cycle - (LNG 냉열을 이용한 복합발전 플랜트의 성능향상에 관한 연구(I) - 복합화력 발전플랜트의 설계점 및 탈설계점 모델링 -)

  • 복합화력 발전플랜트의 운전에서 특히 하절기의 첨두부하시에 외기온도의 상승으로 인한 가스터빈의 출력 감소를 해결하기 위한 방법으로 LNG 연료가 보유하고 있는 냉열을 이용하여 압축기로 유입되는 공기 온도를 감소시키는 냉각시스템의 개념을 개발하고자 복합화력 발전플랜트에 대한 설계점 및 외기온도 변화에 대한 탈설계점 모델링 연구를 수행하였다. 대상 프랜트는 940 MW 서인천 복합 발전플랜트 모듈의 단위 블록을 선택하였으며 발전플랜트 전용 해석코드인 GateCycle을 이용하여 가스터빈과 증기사이클의 주요 기기 들에 대한 모델을 개발하였다. 개발된 모델의 결과를 대상플랜트의 시운전결과와 비교하여 모델의 적정성을 검증하였다. 출력, 효율, 온도 및 유량 등 주요 설계인자들이 최대 ~1.3%의 상대오차 범위 안에서 만족할 만한 신뢰도를 갖는 것을 확인하였다. 탈설계점 성능해석은 본 논문과 관련한 연구의 주목적인 LNG 냉열에 의한 유입공기 냉각시스템 설계시의 경계변수인 외기온도 증가에 대한 각 사이클의 특성변화를 대상으로 하였다. 종합적으로 외기온도가 증가하면 압축기로 유입되는 공기의 양과 이에 대응하는 소요 연료량이 동시에 감소하므로 연소에 따른 가스터빈의 팽창비가 감소한다. 이로 인하여 외기온도 증가시에 가스터빈 출력감소율은 0.5%/$^{\circ}C$로서 배기가스를 이용하는 증기사이클의 출력감소율 0.2%/$^{\circ}C$에 비해 민감하므로 가스터빈 유입공기의 냉각시스템의 설계는 복합화력발전 플랜트의 효율 향상에 크게 기여할 것으로 예상된다.

  • Nonlinear characteristics of air pressure variation and wave transformation of a fixed air-chamber structure are discussed theoretically and experimentally. Two analytical methods(method I and II) based on the perturbation method and Green's formula are employed in order to evaluate nonlinearities by the submerged and semi-submerged air-chamber structure. Moreover, an air compression model is newly developed to estimate the dynamic air pressure in the air-chamber inside the structure, assuming the Boyle-Charles's law with adiabatic process in the air pressure variation. Theoretical values of the method I considering evanescent mode waves at an fictious boundary, are in good agreement with those of method II employing the fictious boundary which is not affected by evanescent mode waves. Both theoretical values are shown to agree well with experimental values.

EDISON-CFD를 활용한 대형 트럭 디플렉터 형상에 따른 항력 감소 효과에 관한 연구

  • 대형 화물 트럭(heavy-duty truck)은 화물 적재에 용이하지만, 공기역학적으로 불리한 형상을 가진다. 이러한 단점을 극복하고자 대형 화물 트럭에는 공기저항력(aerodynamic drag)을 줄일 수 있는 여러 가지 장치가 달려있다. 본 논문에서는 디플렉터(deflector) 형상이 항력 감소에 어떠한 영향을 주며, 평판 형태와 굴곡진 형태의 디플렉터 형상에 대한 항력 계수 비교를 EDISON-CFD를 활용하여 비교하였다. 해석 결과, 측풍(side-wind)의 영향을 무시하며 차량 속도 95 km/h로 등속을 유지하는 조건에서 평판 형태의 Model 1과 바깥으로 굴곡진 Model 2에서 전체 항력 계수가 낮게 나타났다.
