An Efficient Caching Scheme to Enhance the Response Time of Geospatial Web Services (지리공간 웹 기반 서비스에서 응답시간을 향상시키기 위한 효율적인 캐싱 기법)

  • The wide spread of the Internet service has brought in web GIS development. But, there are problems of the user access latencies, the network traffic, and the server overload in Internet Geographic Information System because spatial data are transferred in large volumes. In this paper, I propose a cache algorithm on client side to solve the above problems. The proposed algorithm demonstrates the performance improvement over known studies by utilizing unit time and spatial proximity. In addition, this paper conducts a performance evaluation to measure the improvement in algorithm efficiency and analyzes the results of the performance evaluation. When spatial data queries are conducted, according to our performance evaluation, hit rate has been improved over the existing algorithms.

  • The matching process is not simple, since the identified features from different sources do not always match in their location, extent, and description. We present a new approach to matching GIS features from disparate sources. A graph theoretic approach is used to model the geographic context and to determine the matching features from multiple sources.

  • 컴퓨터와 무선 통신 기술의 발달로 인하여 LBS(Location based Service)와 같은 새로운 이동체 관련 서비스가 생겨나고 있다. 이와 같은 서비스들은 이동체들이 일정 주기를 가지고 자신의 정보를 서버로 전송하는데 이는 많은 디스크 입출력을 요구하게 된다. 그러므로 이동체 데이터에 대하여 다중 디스크를 이용한 병렬 입출력이 요구되고 있다. 그러나 기존의 디클러스터링 방법은 시간 도메인을 고려하지 않거나 공간 관련성만을 고려하여 디클러스터링을 하므로, 하나의 디스크에 특정 이동체의 궤적이 집중 되는 문제점이 있다. 이 문제점은 디스크의 병목현상으로 인한 느린 응답시간과 낮은 처리율의 결과를 발생시킨다. 그러므로 이동 객체의 빠른 질의 처리를 위한 새로운 디클러스터링 기법이 필요하다. 이 논문에서는 다중 디스크 기반의 시스템에서 이동 객체에 대한 영역질의시 빠른 응답시간과 높은 처리율물 얻기 위하여 새로운 디클러스터링 기법을 제시한다. 이동체 데이터의 궤적 MBB중 공간 좌표로부터 Predefined Disk를 생성하고 PDT-Proximity를 이용하여 시간 도메인을 고려하는 방법이다. 위와 같이 이동 객체의 특성을 고려한 새로운 디클러스터링 방법으로 시스템의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있다.

Main Memory Spatial Database Clusters for Large Scale Web Geographic Information Systems (대규모 웹 지리정보시스템을 위한 메모리 상주 공간 데이터베이스 클러스터)

  • With the rapid growth of the Internet geographic information services through the WWW such as a location-based service and so on. Web GISs (Geographic Information Systems) have also come to be a cluster-based architecture like most other information systems. That is, in order to guarntee high quality of geographic information service without regard to the rapid growth of the number of users, web GISs need cluster-based architecture that will be cost-effective and have high availability and scalability. This paper proposes the design of the cluster-based web GIS with high availability and scalability. For this, each node within a cluster-based web GIS consists of main memory spatial databases which accomplish role of caching by using data declustering and the locality of spatial query. Not only simple region queries but also the proposed system processed spatial join queries effectively. Compare to the existing method. Parallel R-tree spatial join for a shared-Nothing architecture, the result of simulation experiments represents that the proposed spatial join method achieves improvement of performance respectively 23% and 30% as data quantity and nodes of cluster become large.

Stability evaluation of existing subway structure by adjacent excavation in urban tunnelling (도심지 터널 근접시공에 의한 기존 지하철 구조물 안정성 평가)

  • As the construction of trans infrastructure using the underground tunnel have been rapidly increased, various nearby excavation of existed underground facility including subway structure has been occurred in urban tunnelling. The concern and worry relating to the safety and stability of the existed facility by nearby excavation is becoming the key issues in urban tunnelling. In this study, it was conducted for existed the subway station structure at Seoul subway line which was closely located in the new Dongbuk urban metro railway to determine the behavior characteristics of station structure according to adjacent tunnel construction. Also, it was reviewed the evaluation of the safety zone and excavation method for subway structure. And after a review of damage evaluation, track irregularities and structural calculation by using a numerical analysis, stability of the subway structure according to nearby tunnel excavation was evaluated to be secured. This study is expected to be applied as useful reference in advance if you need to review the effects of existed structure according to nearby construction in complex urban tunnelling.

Geographies of Learning and Proximity Reconsidered: A Relational/Organizational Perspective (학습과 근접성의 지리에 대한 재고찰: 관계적/조직적 관점)

  • This paper aims to critically review the geographical literature on learning and proximity that stresses the role of the regions and geographical proximity in sustaining competitive advantage, and to conceptualize a relational/organizational perspective on the sources of knowledge and learning in the firm. In the first part of the paper, I argue that the geographical literature lacks the deliberate scrutiny of how learning occurs in the firm and where the sources of knowledge and learning come from. Secondly, I attempt to elaborate the concept of proximity through a relational/organizational perspective. Thirdly, I delve into how learning takes place and is realized in the firm through communities in the firm such as communities of practice, epistemic communities and task-force teams and how such communities in the firm generate knowledge and sustain loaming by drawing on relational/organizational proximity. This paper concludes by claiming that the sources of learning exist in organizational spaces, with complex geographies mobilizing distributed knowledge and competences and combining varied forms of knowledge beyond the simple demarcation of tacit and codified knowledge.

  • As large scaled natural or man-made disasters being increased, the demand for rapid responses for such emergent situations also has been ever-increasing. These responses need to acquire spatial information of each individual site rapidly for more effective management of the situations. Therefore, we are developing a close-range real-time aerial monitoring system based on a low altitude unmanned helicopter. This system can acquire airborne sensory data in real-time and generate rapidly geospatial information. The system consists of two main parts: aerial and ground parts. The aerial part includes an aerial platform equipped with multi-sensor(cameras, a laser scanner, a GPS receiver, an IMU) and sensor supporting modules. The ground part includes a ground vehicle, a receiving system to receive sensory data in real-time and a processing system to generate the geospatial information rapidly. Development and testing of the individual modules and subsystems have been almost completed. Integration of the modules and subsystems is now in progress. In this paper, we w ill introduce our system, explain intermediate results, and discuss expected outcome.

  • 최근 모바일 기기의 발달과 기기의 보급으로 인하여, 사용자의 이동성에 따른 위치 정보에 관한 질의 요구가 증가되고 있다. 이러한 사회적 특성에 맞추어 현재 위치를 중심으로 주변 객체를 찾는 최근접주변 객체 질의에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 기존 최근접 주변객체 질의는 2차원 공간에서 질의 점 주변에 보이는 모든 객체를 검색하며 보이지 않는 객체는 제외시킨다. 하지만 3차원 공간 환경일 경우 객체들의 높이를 감안해야 하기 때문에 기존 기법들로는 3차원 근접주변 객체를 검색하기에는 적합하지 않다. 본 논문에서는 이런 문제점을 해결하는 새로운 3차원 최근접 주변객체 질의 (3dimensional Nearest Surrounder Query: 3dNS)를 제안한다. 객체들 간의 Z_angle 수직각도를 사용함으로써 3차원 공간 환경에서 객체 검색을 가능하게 하며 질의 처리의 정확성을 높일 수 있다.

Behavior of the tunnel under the influence of a existing building during the adjacent ground excavation (근접굴착 시 기존건물의 영향을 받는 터널의 거동)

  • If the ground is excavated in a depth which is deeper than the adjacent existing tunnel, the behavior of the braced wall is known to be greatly affected by the presence of the tunnel. By the way it is expected to be also affected by the structure on the ground surface, There are not many examples of studies which are conducted on this subject. As a result, largel scale model tests and analysis were conducted, to measure the behavior of the tunnel under the building whose location on the ground surface was varied during the adjacent ground excavation. For this purpose, the location of a building load was varied in 0 m, 1D, 2D on ground surface. In this paper, the behaviors of braced wall and adjacent tunnel was studied. Model tests in 1 : 10 scale were performed in real construction sequences. The size of test pit was $2.0m(width){\times}6.0m(height){\times}4.0m(length)$ in dimension. As a result, it was found that the stability of the existing tunnel under the influence of the building load on the ground surface adjacent to the braced wall.
