  • The launching of the Taepo-dong 1 on 31 August 1998 by the North Korea was the first case where the diplomatic protests was made against the flight, the purpose of which, the launching State claimed, consisted in space exploration and use. It is the principle regarding the freedom of space exploration and use, as included in the international treaty, that is relevant in applying the various rules and in defining the legal status of the flight. Its legal status, however, was not actually taken into account, as political negotiations leading to the test moratorium has been successful until present day in freezing the political crisis. This implies that the rules of the law lack the validity and logic sufficient in dictating the conduct of the States. This case shows that, in effect, it is not the rule but the politics that is to govern the status of the flight.

  • This study aims to explore how journalistic norms are practiced in journalists tweets by analyzing journalists' twitter. The study found that journalists consider using twitter as an extension of journalistic practice rather than a private space. In other words, journalists use twitter without a clear distinction about the nature of the twitter. In terms of journalistic norms, journalists expressed actively their opinion rather than keeping the traditional notion of objectivity. There are not much tendency of sharing the gatekeeping role. Also, journalistic use of twitter does not increase transparency as much as expected. However, there is a positive sign of practicing the newly expected journalistic role, conversation with news users. Finally the relationships between journalistic use of twitter and journalistic norms are not straightforward but diverse depending on the size and type of press, and gender of journalists.

  • Mobile communications is argued to reshape and activate the existing space by increasing 'mobile communicability en route' and 'real time interaction.' This study is designed to make an empirical analysis on how different the use of a cellular phone is in each different space. In this study, the space is divided into three distinct parts including the private, social and public space. First, spatial micro-coordination and experience of polysemy of place are widely observed in the use of a mobile phone in the private space. Secondly, it is found that a mobile phone contributes to extending the scope of social contacts which in turn compliments the existing social relationship. Moreover, a full-time intimate community that is connected via a mobile phone results in reshaping the social space. Lastly, the study shows that the usage pattern of a mobile phone varies depending on the type of public space. The technological development is envisaged to lead to more demand for the public space while facilitating the use of the public space.

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine bedroom-need norms and the relationship between normative deficits for bedroom sharing and housing space satisfaction of adolescent. Three cases were mainly considered to apply for adolescents to share a bedroom: maximum age and number limits of a child sharing a parents'bedroom, maximum age of an old child sharing a bedroom with its siblings of the opposite sex, and maximum age of an old child sharing a bedroom with its siblings of the same sex. The data were collected 400 eighth grade students in the three different size of regions, June-July, 1999 and 379 cases were finally analyzed. The result showed that the normative deficits for bedroom sharing was a statistically signiticant factor to explain housing space satisfaction of adolescents even though the condition of bedroom sharing was the most influencial variable. This reset supports the family housing adjustment behavior model of Morris and Winter.

As a result of the study, 'the concept of Spatial Safeguarding in Cultural Heritage' including C and D type and three value which are trends of International Norms are reflected in Korea legal system, and concrete safeguarding methodology is also implemented systematically in case of ecological value. • In recent years, the formation of identity has drawn much attention in urban development strategy. This has a dual implication for normative rehabilitation of lost traditional identity for ontological security of human being, and for strategic improvement of newly urban images in order to gain superiority in urban competitions. This duality is reflected on the debate between postmodern theorists, such as Lacan, Foucault and Deleuze, criticizing modem identity, and Arendt and Habermas, suggesting alternative formation of identity through public space. This paper considers some implications of identity for urban development policy, while criticizing urban development strategies which justify themselves with enhancing urban identity but which distort or erode it actually. In particular, this paper argues that the perspective of postmodern theorists is suitable for criticizing pseudo-identity in reality, while critical theoriests' suggestion of formation of authentic identity through and in public space can be understood as an ethical alternative to urban development policy.
