This study was aimed to investigate the tensile behaviors of PE(Polyethylene) fiber-reinforced highly ductile cementitious composites with different combinations of micro silica sand and normal sand(river sand) with maximum particle size of 4.75 mm. Flow test result indicated the increase of flowability with higher replacement ratio of river sand. There was no noticeable difference in the mean compressive strength with different replacement ratio of river sand, but the variation in the compressive strength increased as higher amount of river sand was adopted for the replacement. The difference in the uniaxial tensile strength was negligible, but the tensile strain capacity was significantly influenced by the replacement ratio of river sand. It is thought that increased density of multiple cracks induced improved tensile strain capacity when higher percentage of river sand was adopted for fine aggregate. The deviation in the strain capacity increased as the replacement ratio of river sand was higher, as in the compressive strength. This study presented the feasibility of using normal sand instead of micro silica sand for highly ductile cementitious composites with equivalent or better uniaxial tensile performance, even though it might increase the deviation in the performance.

As for a possibility of using high volume of recycled aggregate in concrete mixture, recycled fine one which is known to be worse in quality and hard to control was selected and investigated in terms of performance of mortar as the replacement ratio to natural fine aggregate was changed. As a result of test, it is found that grade of recycled fine aggregate was beyond standard one and fineness modulus of that itself was increased in compare to natural one. In case of making mortar with recycled fine aggregate, disadvantageous results such as less fluidity and air content including the increase of dry shrinkage were shown but strengths of mortar were comparable to the one making with natural aggregate, which means that planned strength of common concrete structure can be achieved by controlling W/C and the amount of chemical admixture, and also that large amount of recycled fine aggregate is applicable to the precast concrete products generally free to the amount of water.

The objective of this study is to evaluate the workability and various mechanical properties of heavyweight magnetite concrete and examine the reliability of the design equations specified in code provisions. The main parameters investigated were the water-to-cement ratio and substitution level of normal-weight coarse aggregate (granite) for magnetite. The oven-dried unit weight of concrete tested ranged between 2446 and $3426kg/m^3$. The measured mechanical properties included compressive strength development, stress-strain curve, splitting tensile strength, moduli of elasticity and rupture, and bond stress-slip relationship of concrete. Test results revealed that the initial slump of heavyweight magnetite concrete increased as the substitution level of normal-weight coarse aggregate increases. The substitution level of normal-weight coarse aggregate had little influence on the compressive strength and tensile resistance capacity of heavyweight concrete, while it significantly affected the modulus of elasticity and stress-strain curves of such concrete. The design equations of ACI 349-06 and CEB-FIP provisions mostly conservatively predicted the mechanical properties of heavyweight magnetite concrete, but the empirical equations for modulus of elasticity and splitting tensile strength need to be modified considering the unit weight of concrete.
In this study, waste glass and bottom ash were used as basic materials in order to secure a recycling technology of by-products which was mostly discarded and reclaimed. In addition, because softening point of waste glass is less than $700^{\circ}C$ and bottom ash includes combustible material, it was possible to manufacture low-temperature sintering lightweight aggregates for energy saving at $800{\sim}900^{\circ}C$ that it is as much as 20~30% lower than sintering temperature of existing lightweight aggregates. Thermal conductivity of newly-developed lightweight aggregates was 0.056~0.105W/m. K and its porosity was 40.36~84.89%. A coefficient of correlation between thermal conductivity and porosity was -0.97, it showed very high negative correlationship. With this, we were able to verify that porosity is key factor to affect thermal conductivity. Microstructure of lightweight aggregates by $CaCO_3$ content and replacement ratio of bottom ash in the variation of temperature were that $CaCO_3$ content increased along with pore size while replacement ratio of bottom ash increased as pore size decreased. Specially, most pores were open pore instead of closed pore of globular shape when replacement ratio of bottom ash was 30%, and pore size was small about 1/10~1/5 as compared with case in bottom ash 0~20%. In addition, open pore shapes were remarkably more irregular form of open pore in $900^{\circ}C$ than $700^{\circ}C$ or $800^{\circ}C$ when replacement ratio of bottom ash was 30%. We reasoned hereby that these results will influence on absorption increase, strength and thermal conductivity decrease of lightweight aggregates.

This is an experimental study for recycling coal ash left over from coal use as a potential fine aggregate in concrete. Coal ash is generally divided into either fly ash or bottom ash. Fly ash has been utilized as a substitution material for cement in concrete mixes. On the other hand, bottom ash has the problem of low recycling rates, and thus it has been primarily reclaimed. This study partially substituted fine concrete aggregates with bottom ash to increase its application rate and therefore its recycling rate; its suitability for this purpose was confirmed. The concrete's workability dropped noticeably with increasing bottom ash content when a fixed water-cement ratio of concrete mix was used. Thus, concrete mixes with higher ratio levels are required. To address this problem, concrete was mixed using a polycarboxylate high-range water reducing agent. The fluidity and air entrainment immediately after mixing the concrete and 1 h after mixing were measured, thereby replicating the time concrete is placed in the field when produced either in a ready-mixed concrete or in a batch plant. As a result of this research, the workability and air entrainment were maintained 1 h after mixing for a concrete mixture with approximately 30% of its fine concrete aggregates substituted with the bottom ash. A slight drop in compression strength was seen; however, this confirmed that potential of using bottom ash as a fine aggregate in concrete.

This study has analyzed the engineering characteristics of resource-cycling mortar according to the variation of fine aggregate type using illite with high development potentials by setting the goal as developing eco-friendly construction materials. As a result, while flow has increased if recycled fine aggregate and waste refractory are used separately or mixing them adequately in case of flow and compressive strength, the flow had somewhat declined followed by illite replacement. However, the possibility of such usage is determined to be adequate if used by mixing illite, recycled fine aggregate and waste refractory properly due to the dry shrinkage effect.

In order to evaluating applicability of RAP (recycled aggregate powder) in mortar, in this study, physical and mechanical tests was carried out. Material characteristics of recycled aggregate and RAP were evaluated and the mechanical properties of mortar replaced with RAP were analyzed. Test result of sieve analysis showed that as the milling time increased the fineness modulus was decreased and the distribution of 0.6 mm particle size was found to increase. The fluidity of mortar mixture substituted with RAP tended to increase than Plain mixture. It was result that the increasing fluidity was affected by unreacted surplus water in the mortar as the binder was replaced with RAP. From the compressive strength result of the mortar subjected to RAP, it was found that the RAP was able to replace up to about 10% of unit binder weight although the compressive strength of mortar was decreased as the RAP replacement increased. From the above study, it can be concluded that the physical properties of RAP satisfied the quality standard of aggregate for replacement with fine aggregate. Moreover, in case of the RAP was replaced up to 10% of unit cement weight, it was able to be possible to improve fluidity and compressive strength of mortar.

This study, as a research for using crushed sand as a fine aggregate of concrete for nuclear structures, we improved the performance of impact crusher in the existing crushed sand production process and adjusted grain size to conform to ASTM C 33 The shape and grain size characteristics of a crushed sand were examined and concrete was prepared according to the substitution ratio of the sand to investigate the properties of fresh concrete and hardened concrete. The experimental results show that most of the concrete characteristics are equivalent to those of concrete using only heavy sand. However, when the substitution rate of steel sand exceeds 50%, the amount of air, compressive strength and tensile strength are somewhat reduced.

For the decades, various of materials were used to instead of cement as the high volume CO2 occurred during the process of cement manufacture. In this paper, incineration plant ash was used in the mortar which incorporating high volume of blast furnace slag. Water to binder ratio(W/B) is fixed as 50%,BS+RP's replacement ratio is fixed as 80%,and the replacement ratio of WA1 is range as 0,0.5,1,2,3,4,5%.For the fresh mortar, flow and chloride contents has been tested. For the hardened mortar, compressive strength at 3,7,28 days has been tested. the result shows that when the replacement ratio of WA1 is 0.5%,the chloride contents is less than 0,3 kg/m3,the flowability and strength also performed better than other replacement types of mortar.
