GMT 부경 테스트 방법에 관한 연구

  • GMT(Giant Magellan Telescope)는 그레고리안(Gregorian) 방식 망원경이다. 일반적으로 그레고리안 방식은 포물면인 주경과 타원면인 부경으로 구성되어 있으나, GMT의 주경은 비구면계수가 -0.99829인 타원면이다. 부경은 지름 1.063m 7장의 반사경이 3.2m의 부경을 이루며 곡률반경은 4.2058m, 비구면계수는 -0.71087이다. 주경과 부경은 모두 1장의 중앙 반사경과 6장의 비축 반사경으로 이루어져 있다. 따라서 GMT 광학계에서 대구경 비축 비구면 반사경의 가공 및 테스트는 매우 중요하다. 이 발표에서는 GMT 부경을 테스트하기 위하여, 타원면의 기본적인 광학적 특성을 이용한 테스트 방법과 이 방법의 단점을 보완하기 위해 Reference 반사경을 이용하는 방법, 그리고 Null compensator를 이용한 방법 등을 제시한다. Null compensator를 이용한 방법에는 일반적으로 Autostigmatic 방식과 Autocollimation 방식이 있으며 이 발표에서는 이 두 방식을 상호 비교한 연구 결과에 대하여 논의한다.

A Conical Indentation Technique Based on FEA Solutions for Property Evaluation (유한요소해에 기초한 원뿔형 압입 물성평가법)

  • The sharp indenters such as Berkovich and conical indenters have a geometrical self-similarity in theory, but different materials have the same load-depth curve in case of single indentation. In this study, we analyze the load-depth curves of conical indenter with angles of indenter via finite element method. From FE analyses of dual-conical indentation test, we investigate the relationships between indentation parameters and load-deflection curves. With numerical regressions of obtained data, we finally propose indentation formulae for material properties evaluation. The proposed approach provides stress-strain curve and the values of elastic modulus, yield strength and strain-hardening exponent with an average error of less than 2%. It is also discussed that the method is valid for any elastically deforming indenters made of tungsten carbide and diamond for instance. The proposed indentation approach provides a substantial enhancement in accuracy compared with the prior methods.

Effect on Flow Distortion of S-Duct by Boundary Layer Suction (경계층 흡입이 S-Duct의 유동 왜곡에 미치는 영향성 연구)

  • An intake of Aircraft becomes S-shaped geometry due to spatial limitation or procuring survivability. But curvature of the S-shaped geometry makes secondary flow or flow separation which is the cause of non-uniform pressure distribution. In this study, boundary layer suction is applied to RAE M 2129 S-Duct by attaching sub duct. Design variable is suction location and angle. A mass flow rate drawn out by suction at the sub duct outlet is constant over every model. A grid dependency test was conducted to verify validity of computation. The comparison among the CFD (Computation Fluid Dynamics), ARA experimental result, and ARA computation result of non-dimensional pressure distribution on the Port side and Starboard Side confirmed the validity of CFD. In this study, Distortion Coefficient was used for evaluating aerodynamic performance of S-Duct. The analysis, which was about flow separation, vortex, mass flow rate distribution, and pressure distribution were also investigated. Maximum 26.14% reduction in Distortion Coefficient was verified.

Flexural Resistance Statistics of Composite Plate Girders (국내 생산 강재를 적용한 강합성 거더 휨저항강도의 통계적 특성)

  • The objective of the present study is to provide statistical resistance statistics for steel-concrete composite plate girder sections under positive and negative moments. Statistical properties on yield strength, tensile strength, elongation, and fracture toughness of domestic structural steel products, gathered from an analysis of over 16,000 samples, were evaluated. Using the steel samples for the plate girder, the bias factor and the coefficient of variation of the ultimate flexural resistance for representative composite plate girder sections under positive and negative flexures were presented. In calculating the ultimate flexural resistance of the composite section, the moment curvature relationships were developed using the incremental load approach considering material nonlinearity for the steel girder. The predicted statistics can be used in the future for the efficient calibration of LRFD code.

Investigation on the characteristics of a cavity-dumped Nd:glass laser (Cavity-dumping형 Nd:glass laser의 제작 및 특성 조사)

  • A small signal gain coefficient of Nd:glass was measured and a cavity-dumped laser was constructed. To measure the small signal gain coefficient, we constructed a resonator consisting of Nd:glass, Pockels cell, polarizing beam splitter. The measured small signal gain coefficient was $0.088 cm_{-1}$ when the input energy was 100 J and the round-trip internal loss of the resonator was 56%. The cavity-dumped laser was constructed using Nd:glass. 2 m radius of curvature HR-mirrors, Pockels cell, polarizinig beam splitter and $\lambda/4$ plate. The output energy of cavity-dumped laser was 0.85 J at 140 J input energy and the laser pulse width was 8 ns.s 8 ns.

Development of Intake Port for Range Extender Engine Using CFD Simulation (전산유체해석을 통한 RE엔진 흡기포트의 개발)

  • An intake port for Range Extender engine has been developed using CFD technique. Three dimensional intake port model has been built and computational analysis has been performed. Computed non-dimensional flow coefficient, swirl ratio and swirl number have been compared with the experimental result. Convex and concave curvature of the intake port have been optimized to reduce recirculation flow and flow resistance. Finally, the mean flow coefficient is 0.383 and the mean swirl number is 1.544. The intake port shows relatively excellent performance compared with those of general 2 valve engine system intake ports.

  • This study analyzes the effects of the curvature friction coefficient, the wobble friction coefficient, and the increased strength of concrete, reinforced tendon on optimum de signs by using the optimum-design program, to minimize the cost of a PSC box girder bridge using the full staging method. The objective of this study is to find a proper tendon for the friction coefficient, and thereafter, to indicate the direction of the study development about tendons and to indicate the direction of a study on the increased strength of used materials. This program used the SUMT procedure and Kavlie's extended-penalty function to allow infeasible design points in the process. Powel's direct method was used in searching design points, and the gradient approximate method was used to reduce the design hours.

Analysis of Soil Characteristics and its Relationship According to the Geological Condition in Natural Slopes of the Landslide Area (산사태지역 자연사면의 지질별 토질특성 및 상관관계 분석)

  • In this study, the soil characteristics are analyzed using the result of various soil tests as an object of the soil layer of natural slopes in landslides areas. Also, the relationship with landslides and interrelation with each soil properties are analyzed. The landslides in three areas with different geological condition are occurred due to heavy rainfall in same time. The geology of Jangheung area, Sangju area and Pohang area is gneiss, granite, and the tertiary sedimentary rock, respectively. However soil characteristics have a little differentiation to geological condition, the soils sampled from landslide area have higher proportion of fine particle and porosity, and lower density than those from non landslide area. In case of same geological condition, landslides are occurred in the terrain slope with high permeability. The permeability is mainly influenced by the soil characteristics such as particle size distribution, porosity, particle structure, and the geological origins such as weathering, sedimentary environment. The soil layer with high internal friction angle is more stable than that with low internal friction angle in all geological condition. The permeability is mainly influenced by effective particle size, coefficient of uniformity, coefficient of gradation, porosity, density and so on. Also, those have interrelation with each factor. These interrelations are similar in all study area. Meanwhile, in proportion as the void ratio and the porosity rises the permeability increases.

  • In this study, the 4-point bending test been performed in order to estimate effect of grinding on fatigue characteristics quantitatively for as-welded specimen, grinding specimen & TIG-dressing specimen for non load-carrying fillet welded joints subjected to pure bending. As a result of fatigue tests, fatigue strength at $2{\times}106$cycles of grinding specimen and TIG-dressing specimen has been increased compared with as-welded specimen and satisfied the grade of fatigue strength prescribed in specifications of domestics and AASHTO & JSSC.   • A thermal barrier coating (TBC) prevents heat directly transferring from a high-temperature flame to a substrate. The TBC system comprises a top coating and bond coating. TBC technology reduces the substrate surface temperature by about $100{\sim}170^{\circ}C$. In the TBC system, internal stress is generated by the difference in thermal expansion coefficients of the substrate and coating. The internal stress also differs according to the shape and position of the blade. In this study, finite element analysis was performed for different curvatures of coin-shaped specimens, which are commonly used for thermal fatigue tests, and the changes in internal stress of the TBC system were compared. Based on the results, the curvature at which the minimum stress occurs was derived, and the thermal stress was confirmed to increase with the difference between a given curvature and the curvature with the minimum stress.
