  • This paper describes a boost converter cascaded high frequency link direct do-ac converter suitable for fuel cell power sources. A new multi-loop control for a boost converter to reduce the low frequency input current harmonics drawn from fuel cell is proposed. A new PWM technique for the cycloconverter at the secondary to reject the low order harmonics in the output voltages is presented in detail.

  • Recently, transformerless inverters have been studied to reduce sizes and costs of utility-connected PV systems. This paper presents a transformerless PV inverter using a two-phase boost converter of reduced ripples in input current and output voltage, low voltage stress of semiconductor device and reduced size of input reactor. And new PWM method is introduced, whose on-off time is calculated from simultaneous equation induced by fourier series. To verify a validity of the proposed transformerless inverter, computer simulation has been carried out.

  • This paper presents a design and implementation of 3.3 kW on-board battery charger for electric vehicles or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. Considering characteristics of the electric vehicles, a series-loaded resonant dc-dc converter and frequency control scheme are adopted to improve efficiency and reliability, and to reduce volume and cost. The developed on-board battery charger is designed and implemented by using high frequency of 80-130 kHz and zero voltage switching method. The experimental result indicates 92.5% of the maximum efficiency, 5.84 liters in volume, and 5.8kg in weight through optimal hardware design.

  • R&D trend for Auxiliary Power Supply(APU) of electric vehicle can be well understood by analyzing patents at home and abroad. Based on this trend analysis, domestic technology development direction is proposed. To get technique trend, patents of Korea, Japan, Europe and America published until February of 2014 are analyzed by WIPS DB. First, power converter and transformer two big category are classified. Power converter can be classified into resonant DC to DC converter and resonant Half bridge inverter; transformer can be classified into high frequency transformer, ferrite transformer and matching transformer. By analyzing R&D trend of different counties, companies and years, specific technology needed to be developed and trend of technology can be accurately grasped.
