Optimal Decisions on the Quantity and Locations of Ambulances for the Timely Response to Emergency Requests (출동 응답 향상을 위한 적정 구급차 수량 및 배치 위치 결정 연구)

  • A sufficient number of ambulances are critical for preventing delayed vehicle dispatch for emergency patients. This study presents effective methodologies for evaluating the effects of ambulance quantities on availability. The statistical properties of the emergency requests and responses were analyzed for a city in Korea. The inter-request times were modeled by statistical distributions. The ambulance dispatch was modeled using simulation, reflecting the shared dispatch among the city districts. The simulation results revealed that the existing ambulance quantity could successfully meet the majority of the requests, but more vehicles were desirable for improvement. The locations of the additional vehicles were determined efficiently by simulations with a greedy approach. The simulations with added vehicles showed a significantly better coverage of the emergency calls. This research can help design improved emergency vehicle operations, and help save lives.

Damage Evaluation of Cracked Laminated Composite Plates Using Experimental Modal Analysis (실험 모드해석을 이용한 균열 적층복합판의 손상평가)

  • In this study, vibration tests are performed on cantilevered and clamped-clamped laminated composite rectangular plates using experimental modal analysis technique. The damages are simulated by applying progressive line cracks to the laminated composite plates for damage evaluations due to crack growth. The changes of frequency response functions(FRFs), MAC values, and modal parameters (frequency, mode shape and damping ratio) of the damaged composite plates, which are obtained by the modal testing of impact hammer, are investigated. Each experimental modal parameter of the progressively damaged composite plates is compared with natural frequencies and mode shapes obtained by finite element analysis. It is seen that the damage can be evaluated from the changes in the geometric properties and structural behaviors of the laminated composite plates resulting from the model updating process of the finite element model as a benchmark.

  • 본 논문에서는 H1N1 인플루엔자 A 바이러스(influenza A H1N1 virus) 검출을 위한 산화아연 나노구조(zinc oxide nano structure) 기반의 전기화학적 면역센서를 제작하고 그 특성을 분석하였다. H1N1 인플루엔자 A 바이러스는 빠른 전파 속도 때문에 정확하고 빠른 검출이 필요하다. 먼저, 2 $mm^2$의 표면적을 갖는 패턴된 금 전극 위에 열수방식(hydrothermal method)으로 성장시킨 산화아연 나노구조가 선택적으로 형성되도록 리프트-오프(lift-off) 방법을 사용하였다. 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline(pH 7.4)에서 2 ${\mu}g$/mL 농도의 1차 항체를 정전기력에 의해 산화아연 나노구조에 고정화한 후, 10 pg/mL ~ 5ng/mL 농도의 H1N1 항원을 적용하여 포획 항체에 결합시키고 HRP(horseradish peroxidase) 효소가 결합된 검출 항체를 항원에 결합시키는 샌드위치 ELISA법을 이용하였다. HRP와 반응하는 TMB(3,3', 5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine)와 과산화수소가 포함된 acetate buffered 용액(pH 5)을 전해질로 사용하고 순환전압전류 측정법(cyclic voltammetry)으로 센서의 특성을 분석하였다. 측정된 순환전압전류그래프(cyclic voltammogram)에서 H1N1 항원 농도 10 pg/mL ~ 5 ng/mL의 응답 전류는 276.47 ${\pm}$ 21.72 nA (평균 ${\pm}$ 표준편차, n=4) ~ 478.89 ${\pm}$ 6.21 nA로 측정되었고, logarithmic하게 증가하는 응답 전류 특성을 보였다.

An Efficient Caching Strategy in Data Broadcasting (데이터 방송 환경에서의 효율적인 캐슁 정책)

  • TV 방송 분야에서 다양한 정보와 상호 작용성을 제공하기 위해서 최근 기존 방송 내용인 A/V 스트림 외 부가정보 방송이 시도되고 있다. 데이타 방송에 대한 기존 연구는 대부분 고정된 내용의 데이타를 방송하는 환경을 가정하고 있어서 그 결과가 방송 내용의 변화가 많은 환경에 부적합하다. 본 논문에서는 데이타에 대한 접근이 반복되지 않을 가능성이 높고 사용자 접근 확률을 예상하기 어려운 상황에서 응답 시간을 개선하는 방안으로 수신 데이타를 무조건 캐쉬에 반입하고 교체가 필요한 경우 다음 방송 시각이 가장 가까운 페이지를 축출하는 사용자 단말 시스템에서의 캐슁 정책을 제안하였다. 제안된 캐쉬 관리 정책은 평균적인 캐쉬 접근 실패 비용을 줄임으로써 사용자 응답 시간을 개선하며, 서로 다른 스케줄링 기법을 사용하는 다양한 방송 제공자가 공존하는 환경에서 보편적으로 효과를 가져올 수 있다.Abstract Recently, many television broadcasters have tried to disseminate digital multimedia data in addition to the traditional content (audio-visual stream). The broadcast data need to be cached by a client system, to provide a reasonable response time for a user request. Previous studies assumed the dissemination of a fixed set of items, and the results are not suitable when broadcast items are frequently changed. In this paper, we propose a novel cache management scheme that chooses the replacement victim based on the remaining time to the next broadcast instance. The proposed scheme reduces response time, where it is hard to predict the probability distribution of user accesses. The caching policy we present here significantly reduces expected response time by minimizing expected cache miss penalty, and can be applied without difficulty to different scheduling algorithms.

  • This paper intends to improve the problems of the slack stealing algorithm scheduling for periodic tasks with fixed priority and aperiodic tasks which occur dynamically. The Slack stealing algorithm reduces unnecessary waiting time by making the service possible immediately when the slack stealing server gives suitable priority to aperiodic tasks according to the status of aperiodic tasks arrivals at runtime. But no performs the slack stealing, we must calculate execution time of periodic tasks till the point of random. And, execution time of periodic tasks is being repeatedly every hours while the slack algorithm is applied. We show time complexity hen is used as to O(n) if the nubmer of tasks which is applied to the calculation is n. In this appear, due to stored in tables slack times and the execution times of the scheduled periodic tasks, the complexity of aperiodic tasks which is occurring dynamically reduced to O(log n) and improves the responses times. We prove the algorithm proposed in this paper through the simulation.

  • Finite element models are updated in two stages in this paper. In the first stage, damping is neglected, and mass and stiffness matrices of a finite element model are updated using an optimization technique. The objective function for optimization consists of natural frequencies and mode shapes obtained from experimental modal testing data and finite element analysis. In the second stage, damping is considered with the mass and stiffness matrices fixed. A damping matrix is estimated assuming a proportional damping system. Then the damping matrix is adjusted using an optimization process so that the difference between the analytical and measured frequency response functions becomes minimum. This procedure of model updating has been applied to a simulated system and an experimental cantilever beam.

  • The purpose of this study is to design and analyze the pre-modulation filter with the variable -3dB cutoff frequency and linear phase response for bandlimiting the allocation of radio frequency bandwidth in PCM/FM transmission system. For the implementation of this required filter, the digital FIR filter, DAC and variable 2nd order LPF have been constructed with the filter block which designed and analyzed by each stage in order to satisfy the attenuation characteristic requirement of the analog 7th order bessel filter. The paper also concerned the linear phase properties for the filter block. Especially we have carried out the linear phase simulation with real parts for variable 2nd order LPF and compared this simulation results with the one of the fixed bandwidth 2nd order bessel filter for validating the linear phase requirement.

A Study on the Optimal Cut-off Point in the Cut-off Sampling Method (절사표본에서 최적 절사점에 관한 연구)

  • Modified cut-off sampling is widely used for highly skewed data. A serious drawback of modified cut-off sampling is the difficulty of adjustment of non-response in take-all stratum. Therefore, solutions of the problems of non-response in take-all stratum have been studied in various ways such as substitute of samples, imputation or re-weight method. In this paper, a new cut-off point based on minimizing MSE being used in exponential and power functions is suggested and it can be reduced the number of take-all stratum. We also investigate another cut-off point determination method with underlying distributions such as truncated log-normal and truncated gamma distributions. Finally we suggest the optimal cut-off point which has a minimum of take-all stratum size among suggested methods. Simulation studies are performed and Labor Survey data and simulated data are used for the case study.

A Study on Equivalent Modal Damping Values of Soil-Structure Coupling Models (지반-구조물 연계모델의 등가감쇠값에 관한 연구)

  • The theoretical backgrounds of the several methods were surveyed and reviewed to fin out the adequate one to determine equivalent modal damping values in solving the dynamic problem of soil-structure interaction by mode superposition method. Furthermore the rigorous damping matrix of equation of motion was obtained through component mode synthesis technique and used in direct integration of the equation. The analytical results by direct integration method were compared with those of mode superposition approach using the various sets of equivalent modal damping values calculated by the methods to be reviewed. Two types of superstructures and four kinds of subsurface conditions were considered and combined to make soil-structure coupled models. It was realized that dissipating energy method gives the equivalent modal damping values which lead the most similar results to direct integration ones. In case of fixed base, the responses of all methods except stiffness weighted approach are almost equal to those of direct integration method.

  • This paper presents a variable gain current control algorithm for the stabilized grid connection between the grid and a doubly fed induction(DFIG) as a wind power generator. The performance of a RSC current controller depends highly on accurate machine parameters, and especially requires a fast and robust response regardless of the disturbances such as voltage sag. However, parameter variations of a DFIG occur at the point of grid connection, which affects the current controller gains based on DFIG parameters after a DFIG is connected to the grid. Thus, performance degrades when actual machine parameters depart from values used in the control system. In the proposed algorithm, current controller gains of the rotor side converter(RSC) are changed after a DFIG is connected to the grid. The simulation results and experimental results for a 750kW are shown to illustrate the feasibility of the proposed algorithm.
