Gas-liquid 2 phase processes are usually used in chemical, biochemical, environmental engineering and food process. For optimizing these processes, understanding bubble's precise movement and shape are needed. Bubble's movement and shape are effected by liquid's properties-viscosity, surface tension and bubble's properties-size, velocity. This paper deals with experimental data of bubble's movement and shape in high viscous silicone oil. Also, drag coefficient and deformation factor given by other researcher's papers and books are used to predicting and comparing bubble's terminal velocity, drag coefficient, deformation factor and shape with experimental value. Experimental data show that bubble moves faster when it moves in lower viscous silicone oil and it's drag coefficient is bigger when it moves in high viscous silicone oil. Bubble's shape is close to sphere when moving in high viscous silicone. Formulas proposed by Batchelor expect most accurate prediction for bubble's velocity and drag coefficient. Bubble's 2D shape predicted by Batchelor's energy balance, drag coefficient and deformation factor show excellent agreement with experimental bubble's 2D shape.
Currently various studies are underway for dispensing high-viscosity phosphor. These studies have reported limitations and challenges in the dispensing process. The discharged amount of phosphor was approximately the same each time which is important for the implementation of high-efficiency white LED technology. This paper present high-viscosity phosphor dispensing process for white LED implementation by using electrostatic printing technology. The voltage controlled DOD (Drop-On-Demand) discharge experiment was studied to determine angle of drop meniscus at nozzle and dot diameter. With increase in Discharge voltage, the discharge angle of meniscus increased while dot diameter decreased. Therefore it can be concluded that we can control the discharge rate by controling the discharge angle of meniscus.

Flame-retardant vinyl ester (VE) resin films were developed from the mixtures of brominated and non-brominated epoxy resins via esterification with methacrylic acid without reactive diluents. The films were used to fabricate carbon fiber (CF) prepregs via a hot melt impregnation process. The viscosity of VE resins suitable for film production was optimized by mixing low-viscosity bisphenol-A and high-viscosity brominated bisphenol-A epoxy precursors. Increasing the bromine content of the cured VE resin further increased the limited oxygen index (LOI) (39%), storage modulus (2.4 GPa) at 25℃ and residual carbonization (16.1%) values compared to non-brominated VE. Manual layup of as-prepared VE prepregs with subsequent curing led to the successful fabrication of CF-reinforced composites with high tensile and flexural strength. The results from the study hold high promise for a styrene-free, environmentally friendly VE composite process in the future.

In this study, we proposed a new method that can estimate viscosity curves of unknown samples or high viscous resins like LFT(Long Fiber Thermoplastics). First, we built the system that could detect the pressure of melt during filling the cavity in a mold. It consists of both pressure sensors which are installed in a mold and the Kit which can convert analog signal to digital signal. The kit measures the melt pressure in mold cavity. We could also simulate the cavity pressure during filling process with commercialized CAE softwares(ex, Moldflow). If the viscosity data in CAE Database were correct, the simulated pressure profile coincided with the measured one. According to our proposed algorithm, we obtained correct viscosity data by iterating the process of comparing the simulated profile with the measured one until both coincided each other. In order to verify this algorithm, we selected well-defined PP resin and concluded that the experimental profile comply with the CAE profile. We could also estimate the optimized viscosity curves for PP-LFT by applying our method.

SBR, polyurethane and epoxy latex were separately blended with ethylene-vinyl acetate(EVA) emulsion In $0{\sim}50%$. EVA emulsion was not reacted with latexes in liquid phase and mixtures had good stroage stability. The viscosity of cement mixtures was elevated to 20,000cps in $0.5{\sim}2.0$ hours by mixing. The mixtures mixed with pigment represented high viscosity and showed higher viscosity as time goes by. Mixtures had higher hardness with mixing SBR than mixing epoxy or urethane. The hardness was suddenly increased over cement content 30%. showed pencil hardness $H{\sim}2H$ in $50{\sim}60%$. The increase of hardness in high solids was depended upon not only the condensation of latexs but also the coagulation and adhesion of cement particle.

Paper, textile and wood materials are mainly consisted of cellulose. Cellulose is high molecule and make up the strong crystalline structure by hydrogen bonds. In particular, the polymerization degree of cellulose are closely related to the strength of fiber, and the permanence. the useful life of fiber, also depends on the degradation of this substance. The viscosity of cellulose is considered to be an important indicator of fiber damage in high molecule polymers. The viscosity measurements with CED solution is used to measure the molecular weight and the degree of polymerization of cellulose. Cellulose viscosity of wood fibers is measured with TAPPI standard method T230. However, TAPPI standard method T230 is difficult to completely dissolving the cellulose of high molecular weight and large degree of polymerization, such as Korea traditional papers and fabrics made with mulberry, ramie, cotton fibers. In this study, The high viscosity of hanji and fabric was measured with TAPPI standard method T254. T254 method is that the cellulose specimen with the proper amount of weaker (0.167M CED) solution, and completely dissolved with the stronger (1.0M CED) solution. It was found that cellulose with high degree of polymerization was dissolved more easily in general CED method.

To prepare acrylic resin coatings containing 70% of solids, we used n-butyl methacrylate(BMA), methyl methacrylate(MMA), 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate(2-HEMA), and acetoacetoxyethyl acrylate(AAEA), caprolactone acrylate(CLA) as raw materials, the glass transition temperature(Tg) of acrylic copolymer was adjusted around 50 ℃. The viscosity and molecular weight of the acrylic resins was increased with increasing OH values. Di-tert-amyl peroxide was found to be the suitable initiator to get high-solids acrylic resins. The optimum reaction conditions found in the study are 5 wt% of initiator, 4 wt% of chain transfer agent, 4 hrs of dropping time, and 140 ℃ of reaction temperature. The structure of the synthesized resins were characterized by FT-IR and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. Number average molecular weight of 1900~2600 and molecular wight distribution of 1.4~2.1 were obtained. Crosslinked acrylic urethane clear coatings were obtained by curing reaction between the synthesized acrylic resins and hexamethylene diisocyanate trimer(Desmodur N-3300), the equivalent ratio of NCO/OH was 1.2/1.0. The physical properties from the following studies were carried out: viscosity(Zahn cup #2), adhesion, drying time, pot-life, pensil hardness, and 60° specular gloss. Various properties of the acrylic urethane clear coatings were also evaluated on the coating specimens. Adhesion property to a substrate, drying time, pot-life, pencil hardness, and 60° specular gloss of prepared paint showed quite good properties. Futhermore, prepared paint containing 10% of CLA showed quite good properties for adhesion, low viscosity and high hardness.

In this study, flow characteristics in a multi-cavity injection molding process were investigated. One of main problems occurred in the multi-cavity molding is a flow imbalance among cavities since it affects physical properties and quality of products. Charge imbalance is caused by the uneven shear stress. Therefore, changes in viscosity affect the physical properties of resin and injection conditions differ in the filling imbalance phenomenon. Through, this study focus on experimental studies of flow imbalance for PC and PP resin occurring in a balanced delivery system. Experimental results were compared with CAE results. By experimental and CAE analysis, main cause for the flow imbalance is temperature distribution in cross section of runner. New runner system with a simple change of runner shape was suggested to avoid the flow imbalance. A series of simulation to confirm feasibility of Volume Runner's effects was conducted using injection molding CAE.
