Welding Properties of 1000MPa Class High Strength Steel Sheets for Car Body Using Disk Laser (자동차용 1000MPa급 고장력 강판의 Disk 레이저용접 특성)

  • Application for laser welding have increased steadily in recent years due to its benefits such as high speed, high productivity and high density energy heat source. In this study, the influence of welding parameters was investigated on penetration characteristics, mechanical properties including formability test in disk laser welded 1000MPa class steels. A shielding gas was used and bead-on-plate test was performed with various welding speeds. The main welding test was performed by butt welding with various welding speeds at 2.5 kW laser power.

  • The die development of the high-strength steel sheet has big difference on the formability compared with the general panels. Especially, the springback after stamping of the high-strength steel sheets shows big problem. In this study, for the die development of the high-strength steel sheets, write about examples reducing the lead time and the expense of the die development after CAD modification with the result of the springback analysis after finding the best design planning as several times stamping analysis.

  • Vehicle weight reduction is a known strategy to improve fuel efficiency and strengthen exhaust gas regulation. The use of high strength steel can satisfy safety, efficiency, emission, manufacturability, durability, and cost requirements. However, springback of high strength steel results in undesired shape defects. Springback is one of the most important issues of high strength steel for many applications in an automobile. Servo press has various capabilities to improve defects, process conditions, and productivity problems when forming a high strength steel. Especially, servo press can be set to function with variable slide motion in a single operation. In this study, the effect of servo press slide motion on 980MPa high strength steel was investigated through U-bending test.

  • A self-piercing rivet (SPR) is a mechanical component for joining dissimilar material sheets such as those of aluminum alloy and steel. Unlike conventional rivets, the SPR directly pierces sheets without the need for drilling them beforehand. However, the regular SPR can undergo buckling when it pierces a high-strength steel sheet, warranting the design of a helical SPR. In this study, the joining and forging processes using the helical SPR were simulated using the commercial FEM code, DEFORM-3D. High-tensile-strength steel sheets of different strengths were joined with aluminum alloy sheets using the designed helical SPR. The simulation results were found to agree with the experimental results, validating the optimal design of a helical SPR that can pierce high-strength steel sheets.

  • 대용량 고속기의 경우는 기계적인 강성, 냉각, 열적해석, BALANCING(진동), 소음, 축의 위험속도 처리등의 이론적 해석과 이것의 응용 및 이론을 근거로한 체계화된 제조기술의 KNOW HOW에 따라 성공여부가 결정된다고 할 수 있겠다. 금번 패사의 대용량 고속기의 제작으로 국내적으로는 지금까지 수입에만 의존해온던 화력, 열병합 발전소, 제철, 제강, 시멘트 등의 대용량 부하가 요구되는 산업장의 대용량 및 고속전동기의 국산화가 가능하게 되었으며 국외적으로는 일본 및 구미지역으로도 수출할 수 있는 길을 열었다고 보아진다. 그러나 국내 각 산업장의 대용량, 고속기의 국산화에 있어서는 사용자의 국산화로의 전향적인 자세와 MAKER의 기술력이 부합될 때에만 가능하다고 할 수 있으며 이것이 향후 국내 중전기 업계의 기술 발전의 향방을 가름한다고 할 수 있겠다. 또 고장력 규소강판, 축재, ENDRING소재, ROTOR BAR, BEARING등 중요자재의 국내 구입시 많은 어려움을 겪었으며 납기, 가격에 관계없이 국내 제작 자체가 불가능한 품목도 있었다. 앞으로 중전기기 업계는 이러한 어려움을 공감하고 소재 및 부품(완제품) MAKER의 공동 개발 및 육성으로 대처해 나가야 할 것이다.

Corrosion Resistance by Organic/Inorganic Hybrid Solution for Cold Rolled Steel of SPCC and SPFC590 for Automobile (자동차용 냉연강판 SPCC와 냉연고장력강판 SPCF590의 유/무기 하이브리드 용액에 의한 내식특성)

  • The cold-rolled steel sheet for automobile is liable to corrosion, and will be painting in a variety of ways for the anticorrosive. This paper was coated on cold rolled steel (SPCC and SPFC590) for automobiles using five kinds of organic/inorganic hybrid solution. This was evaluated corrosion resistance and so on by the salt spray. Corrosion area was less according to increasing of curing time in 2 types of steel plate with 5 types of the coating solution. No.1 solution was showed the best corrosion resistance regardless of the kinds of the steel sheet. It is judged that the melamin hardner had the role of bridge between $SiO_2$ polysilicate and urethan resin. Other properties were excellent in all solution.

  • In general, multi-lap spot weld joints are frequently present in automobile. Most research, however, has been focused on the single-lap spot weld joints until now. In this paper, tensile-shear strength tests are performed to examine the weldability of 3-lap spot joint welded by using the high strength steel sheet and the zinc coated steel sheet. The indentation depth and nugget diameter are used to propose the optimum welding conditions. The weldability is affected by the welding current and welding time for 3-lap spot joint. Meanwhile the expulsions is round to decrease with the increase of electrode force. The optimum welding conditions are presented for 3-lap spot joints of high strength steel sheet and zinc coated steel sheet.

  • The external unbonded strengthening offers advantages in speed and simplicity of installation over other strengthening techniques. Unlike externally bonded steel plate or carbon fiber sheet, surface preparation of the concrete for installation of high-tension bar is not required and installation is not affected by environmental conditions. Anchoring pin or anchoring plate are installed at the end of beam to connect the high-tension bar to concrete beam. The deviator are used in order that supplementary external bars would follow the curvature of the tested beam. A set often laboratory tests on reinforced concrete beam strengthened using the technique are reported. The main test parameters are the section area of strengthening bar, the depth of deviator and the number of deviators. The paper provides a general description of structural behavior of beams strengthened using the technique. The test result of strengthened beam are compared with those from a reference specimen. It is shown that the reinforcing technique can provide greater strength enhancements to unstrengthened beam and that the provision of deviator enhances efficiency. The ultimate moment of specimen with two deviators was higher than that of specimens with one deviator. It is also shown that the external bars enhance strength of beams in shear.

Development of Durability Enhancement Technology for Arc Weldings in Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) Chassis Parts (고장력강판 적용 샤시부품의 용접부 내구수명 향상기술 개발)

  • In general, discontinuity of metallurgical and structural points of weld zone could decline the fatigue strength. For the lightweight trend, the AHSS application in automotive chassis is in-progress. However, there are few research reports on AHSS welds fatigue strength in especially automotive chassis parts. Therefore, in this study, we evaluated the effects of the factors affecting the AHSS welding fatigue strength. As the result, the stress concentration of weld bead is the most important factor for welding fatigue strength. For the enhancement of welding fatigue strength, we focused on reducing the stress concentration of the welding beads. So, we applied and proved the plasma welding process and GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) dressing method. It was verified by uniaxial fatigue specimen, fatigue performance increased from 40 to 60% by applying TIG dressing method compared to the conventional GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding). These results could be recommended the enhancement of fatigue performance of AHSS.

A Study on the Feasibility of Partial Penetration Laser Welding for the Lap Joint of 390MPa High Strength Steel Sheets (390MPa급 고장력강판의 경치기 레이저 용접에서 부분용입 용접의 적용 가능성에 대한 연구)

  • After high power lasers are avaliable in the commercial market, the number of applications of the laser welding has been increased in manufacturing industries. Although the tailored blank laser welding of butt jointed steel sheets is well known recently in the automotive industries, the lap joint laser welding is a new technology to the automotive manufacturing people as well as the design people. But the deep penetration laser welding seems to be preferred to the partial penetration welding for the lap joint welding in the automotive manufacturers because the partial penetration is a serious deflect for the butt joint. In this study, the feasibility of partial penetration welding fur the lap joint $CO_2$ laser welding was studied fur the 1mm thick 390MPa high strength steel sheets for automotive bodies. The process window of the lap joint partial penetration welding was obtained from experiments with the gap size and the welding speed as process parameters. The partial penetration welding was found excellent on the basis of the tensile shear strength and sectional geometry. The bead width, input energy Per volume, tensile-shear strength, deformation energy and the sectional geometries after tensile-shear tests of partial penetration welded specimens are compared with those of full penetration welded specimens with a series of gaps and welding speeds.
