  • Recently, as structures in Korea and other countries become much taller, larger, and more specialized, concrete used for constructions of these structures is required to have high performance characteristics. Especially, seismic performance of concrete must be improved to resist cyclic loading from earthquakes. Consequently, this study was performed to focus on developing optimal mixtures of high ductile fiber reinforced mortar with high ductility and durability, which have good serviceability, stability and reliability performances. Eventually, this material is expected to improve seismic performance of concrete structures such as load carrying capacity, ductility capacity, and energy dissipation capacity when applied to critical regions of flat plate slab-column joint. Ultimately, this research is intended to develop a material for basic designs and practical constructions of reinforced concrete structures. Test results showed that the maximum load carrying capacity, the ductility capacity, and the energy dissipation capacity of the test specimens titled RCFPP series were increased by 15%~34%, by 33%~37%, and by 2.14 times, respectively, compared to those of the standard specimen titled SRCFP.

  • As a general rule, concrete has higher compression strength than bending and toughness. but Ductile fiber reinforced cementitious composite has high toughness property owing to adding a large volume fiber. Therefore uniaxial tensile strength test is imperative to evaluate high toughness property of ductile fiber reinforced cementitious composite in comparison with general concrete test. but in testing compression strength, Result is different by factor of thickness, shape and edge condition. Uniaxial tensile strength test is affected by fiber's length and section area because of cementitious composite property and factor of fiber arrangement. This study evaluates toughness property of ductile fiber reinforced cementitious composite according to thickness and edge condition. The more thickness is thin, the more high performance by fiber arrangement

  • This paper developed the chassis part as micro-alloyed steel with high toughness. The performance of micro-alloy steels are superior to similar heat treated steels. The strengthening effects of vanadium make micro-alloyed steels particularly suited for high-strength-steel applications. The disadvantages are that ductility and toughness are not as good as quenched and tempered (Q&T) steels. Precipitation hardening increases strength but may contribute to brittleness. Toughness can be improved by reducing carbon content and titanium additions. dispersed titanium nitrides (TiN) formed by titanium additions effectively prevents grain coarsening. Grain refinement increases strength but also improves toughness. For the chassis parts using high toughness micro-alloy steel, it had proven superior to a plain steel forging by static strength test and endurance test.

  • Powder metallurgy processes are able to form Net-Shape products and have been widely used in the production of automobile parts to improve its productivity. However, because of pores in powder products, the toughness of powder products are generally poor. Therefore, forged products are used in parts which suffer severe fatigue loads. In this paper, the choice of powder materials and production processes such as mixing, compaction, sintering, heat treatment to produce automobile spline hub are studied. Three type of materials are selected and processed and its microstructure and properties are investigated by tensile test, compression ring test, and impact test. Materials and processing methods are selected from the results. Finally, experimental spline hubs are manufactured by selected processes from selected powders and proved by torsional durability test.
