Tariff Reduction and Within-Plant Productivity: Micro-evidence from Korean Manufacturing (수입관세 인하가 기업 생산성에 미치는 효과 분석)

  • This paper empirically investigates the effects of import tariff on within-plant productivity growth in Korean manufacturing, using the detailed plant-level longitudinal data of the Korea Census of Manufacturers for the period of 1993-2003. Our main findings are as follows: First, the productivity changes of Korean manufacturing for the period under analysis were mostly induced by within-plant productivity gains, rather than within-industry and/or between-industry resource reallocations. Second, after controlling for firm-specific heterogeneity, the estimation results indicate that lowering tariff-barriers has a positive impact on within-plant TFP growth. We interpret the results in a way that trade liberalization through the removal of tariff and non-tariff barriers heightens the competitive pressure, which in turn creates incentives to reduce production and managerial inefficiency and to invest more on innovative activities. Third, we also find that plant productivity growth from reducing tariff barriers is particularly conspicuous within a year after tariff changes, which implies that plants are quickly adjusting to heightened import competition. On the other hand, our results show that the trade effect on employment creation proceeds relatively slow.

A Longitudinal Study of Social Enterprises' Performances (사회적기업 성과의 종단적 유형화)

  • In this study, various performance types, the combinations of the performance types for growth were investigated to suggest viable policy recommendations for the sustainable growth of social enterprises. The data of the economic and social performance of social enterprises from 2011 to 2016 were obtained and the changes were investigated. Among total of 235 social enterprises that participated in Cho et al, 2011, the research subjects were 164 social enterprises, which were still being operated in March, 2018. The performance of 6 years, since 2011, was surveyed, and total of 104(recovery factor: 69.8%) of social enterprises were analyzed using the growth mixture model, cross tabulation. First of the results, the latent trajectory classes of sales, which are of economic performance, were investigated through the analysis of growth mixture model. The optimal model including three latent classes was adopted. The three latent classes were named as 'mature sales type', 'growing sales type', and 'average sales type'. Second, the latent trajectory classes of employment rate, which are of social performance, were investigated. The optimal model including three latent classes was adopted. The three latent classes were named as 'average employment type', 'declining employment type', and 'increasing employment type'. Third, cluster in $3{\times}3$ tabulation, which is a distribution of the latent trajectory classes of social performance based on the latent trajectory classes of economic performance of social enterprises, was looked into.

고용량 MLCC 재료개발 동향

  • 지금까지 고용량 MLCC를 제조하기 위한 목적으로, MLCC용 유전체 재료의 기술 개발 동향을 재료적인 관점에서, 주로 BT 미립화에 따른 장점에 대해서 논하였다. 지금까지는 set 업체의 경박단소화, 다기능화 추세에 맞추어서 제품 개발이 이루어져 왔고, 이러한 제품을 완성시키기 위해서 재료 측면에서는 미립화가 지속적으로 이루어져 왔고, 미립화에 따른 유전율 감소 등의 부효과를 상쇄시키기 위한 미세구조 제어, 표면 개질 등의 기술개발도 동반하여 이루어져 왔다. 최근에는 이러한 추세가 전장 부품쪽에도 옮겨져서, 자동차에 채용되는 부품수 증가에 따른 소형화 needs가 지속적으로 커지고 있는 상황이다. 차량용 엔포테인먼트 시스템, 무인 주행 차량 등의 기술 상용화 시점이 얼마 남지 않은 시점에서 재료단에서 일반 IT 기기 대비, 신뢰성 특성이 강화되어야 하는 점을 고려해 보았을 때, 재료 개발의 중요성은 아무리 강조해도 지나치지 않을 것이다.

  • Bi-Te게 열전재료는 200~400K 정도의 저온에서 에너지 변환 효율이 가장 높은 재료로써 열전냉각, 발전재료 등에 응용하기 위하여 제조방법 및 특성에 관한 많은 역구가 진행되어 왔다. 현재 산업화에 응용되고 있는 일방향응고법은 기계적 강도가 약하여 회수 율이 낮으며, 결정을 성장시키는데 비교적 장시간을 필요로 하기 때문에 제조 단가가 비싸다. 따라서 이와 같은 문제점을 보완하기 위하여 합금설계 및 가공공정에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 가스분사법을 이용하여 용질원자 편석감소, 고용도의 증가, 균일고용체 형성, 결정립 미세화 등 급속응고 장점을 이용하여 화학적으로 균일한 BI-TerP열전재료 분말을 제조하고, 열간압출 가공을 통하여 이방성의 향상과 함께 미세한 결정립으로 우수한 기계적 강도를 얻을 수 있도록 제조된 분말을 압출 가공하여 열전소자의 기계적 성질과 열전특성을 연구하였다. 그 결과 급속응고 및 압출 공정을 이용한 본 연구에서는 $10\mu\textrm{m}$이하의 미세한 조직과 함께 압출공정을 통하여 이방성을 향상시켰으며, 열전소자는 $2.5{\times}10^{-3}/K$이상의 Figure of merit값을 나타내는 우수한 열전특성을 나타냈다.

  • 디스플레이용 전극 소재로 사용되는 투명 전도막은 높은 가시광 투과율 (89%이상)과 우수한 전기전도성(비저항 10$^{-4}{\Omega}cm$ 이하)을 동시에 가지므로 LCD, PDP, OLED 소자의 핵심소재로 인식되고 있다. 투명 전도막은 광학적 밴드갭이 3.5eV 이상인 wide-gap 반도체로서, 산화인듐($In_2O_3$)에 주석(Sn), 아연(Zn) 등을 치환고용 시킨 ITO, IZO, 산화아연(ZnO)에 Al 혹은 Ga을 치환고용 시킨 AZO, GZO 등 다양한 재료에 대한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 플라즈마 정밀 제어 기술을 이용하여 80$^{\circ}C$이하의 저온 코팅 공정 조건에서 우수한 비저항( $2{\times}10^{-4}$ ${\Omega} cm $)을 나타낼 수 있는 TCO 코팅 공정 기술을 개발하였으며 이러한 연구결과는 차세대 디스플레이 소자로 예측되고 있는 Flexible 디스플레이 소자의 전극 재료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Estimating the Determinants for Rate of Arrearage in Domestic Bank: A Panel Data Model Approach (패널 데이터모형을 적용한 국내일반은행 연체율 결정요인 추정에 관한 연구)

  • In respect complication of group, rate of arrearage in domestic bank is composed of various factors. This paper studies focus on estimating the determinants of the rate of arrearage in domestic bank using panel data model. The volume of analysis consist of 3 groups(loaned patterns of enterprise, housekeeping, credit card). Analyzing period be formed over a 54 point(2005. 1~ 2009. 06). In this paper dependent variable setting up rate of arrearage in domestic bank, explanatory(independent) variables composed of the consumer price index, composite stock price index, rate of exchange, the coincident composite index, national housing bonds and employment rate. The result of estimating the rate of arrearage in domestic bank provides empirical evidences of significance positive relationships between the consumer price index However this study provides empirical evidences of significance negative relationships between the coincident composite index and the composite stock price index. The explanatory variables, that is, rate of exchange, national housing bonds and the employment rate are non-significance variables of negative factor. Implication of these findings are discussed for content research and practices.

유성지역 결정질 암반에서 수행한 양수시험에 대한 해석

  • 연구지역에서 설치된 6개의 관정을 대상으로 양수시험을 실시하였다. Neuman method를 이용하여 연구지역의 투수량계수(transmisivity)와 저유계수(storativity) 및 비산출율(specific yield)을 구한결과 투수량계수는 1$\times$$10^{-6}$~9.135$\times$$10^{-6}$ $m^2$/s 이며, 저유계수는 0.0002~0.0085, 비산출율은 0.3~0.4의 값을 보인다. 계산된 투수량 계수를 이용하여 수리전도도(hydraulic conductivity)를 구하였다. 양수정의 심도보다. 깊은 관정에서 계산된 수리상수 값은 큰 값을, 얕은 관정에서는 작은 값을 보여 양수시험시 양수정과 관측정의 깊이에 대해 고려가 필요하다.

Effects of Regional Creativity Factors on Regional Growths (지역창조화 요인이 지역 성장에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an index to measure regional creativity factors from previous research, as well as to empirically analyze the relationship between regional creativity and regional growth. We conduct panel analysis on the balanced panel data of regional creativity in fifteen Korean cities and provinces during 2008-2012. The result of hypothesis testing are as follows: First, amongst factors of regional creativity, sub-factors such as creative personnel and intangible asset (of the basic asset factor), creative enterprise (of the economic agent factor), and convergence and creative industries (of the core industry factor) showed significant influential relationships with GRDP (Gross Regional Domestic Product) as positive. Concerning the systemization factor, all sub-factors showed no significant relationship with GRDP. Second, amongst the factors, creative personnel (of the basic asset factor), start-up and entrepreneurship (of the systemization factor), creative enterprise (of the economic agent factor), the regional space factor, and convergence industry (of the core industry factor) showed significant positive relationships with employment rate. However, tangible and intangible creative asset (of the basic asset factor), convergence management and administration (of the systemization factor), Large/middle/small enterprises and central government/municipalities (of the economic agent factor), and creative industry (of the core industry factor) showed no significant relationship with employment rate. The results of this study will provide insight into the current situation for regional creativity, and review the process and short and long term performance. In addition, it will be a basic means to lead the central government's policy of strengthening local autonomy and decentralization.

The region of analysis consist of 7 groups, that is, Asia, Europe, Central and South America, Oceania, Africa, Middle East. Analyzing period be formed over a 67 point(2002. 6${\sim}$2007. 12). In this paper dependent variable setting up an amount of foreign direct investment, explanatory(independent) variables composed of gross domestic product, a balance of current accounts, the foreign exchange rate, employment to population ratio, an average of the rate of operation(the manufacturing industry), consumer price index, the amount of export, wages(a service industry). For an actual proof analysis, LIMDEP 8.0 software, analysis model is random effect in TWECR The result of estimating the determinants of foreign direct investment of korea provides empirical evidences of significance positive relationships between employment to population ratio and wages(a service industry). However this study provides empirical evidences of significance negative relationships between the foreign exchange rate, censurer price index and the amount of export. The explanatory variables, that is, an average of the rate of operation(the manufacturing industry), gross domestic product and a balance of current accounts, are non-significance variables.

Hepatoprotective Effects of Pig Placental Hydrolysates on Liver Damage-induced Rats by Injecting Carbon Tetrachloride (사염화탄소 주입으로 간손상을 유발시킨 백서에서 돈태반가수분해 물 투여가 간기능 보호에 미치는 영향)

  • The aim of this study was to determine hepatoprotective effects of pig placenta hydrolysates (PLA) on liver damage-induced rats. Sprague Dawley rats were subcutaneously injected with carbon tetrachlorides and divided into 4 groups: negative control (DMSO treated), two PLA treated groups, low dosage of PLA (LPLA; 300 mg/kg body weight) and high dosage of PLA (HPLA; 1000 mg/kg body weight), and silymarin treated group (80 mg/kg body weight). Rats in each group orally received assigned compounds for 3 weeks. For the normal control group vehicle (corn oil) was injected. After 3 weeks, liver and spleen weights were greater in the two PLA and silymarin groups than the negative control group. After bromosulfalein (BSP) treatment, the clearance rates were in the descending order of negative control > LPLA > HPLA = silymarin and serum BSP levels exhibited the opposite trends of the clearance rates. Serum levels of aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, triglyceride, and cholesterol lowered with PLA in a dose-dependent manner. The decrease with HPLA was similar to that with silymarin. In addition, triglyceride, cholesterol, lipid peroxides levels in the liver decreased in HPLA and silymarin compared to the negative control. The liver morphometry was improved in HPLA- or silymarin-treated rats in comparison to the negative control. In conclusion, HPLA administration ameliorated the hepatotoxicity as much as silymarin in rats injected with carbon tetrachlorides.
