Thermal stability and microstructure of CrZr-Al-N films synthesized by unbalanced magnetron sputtering with Cr-Zr-Al segment target (Cr-Zr-Al segment 타겟을 장착한 Unbalanced magnetron sputtering 활용하여 증착한 CrZr-Al-N 박막의 thermal stability와 microstructure에 관한 연구)

  • 본 연구는 segment target을 장착한 unbalanced magnetron sputtering을 활용하여 CrZr-Al-N 박막을 합성하고 박막의 고온안정성과 미세구조를 연구하는데 그 목적이 있다. 박막의 Al 함량을 조절하기 위하여 각 segment target은 Cr,Zr을 일정vol% 유지하며 Al vol%만 변화하여 설계하였다. 박막의 고온안정성을 실험하기 위해 각 시편은 $100{\sim}500^{\circ}C$ 사이의 온도에서 1시간씩 annealing 처리를 실시한 후에 경도를 측정하였다. 박막의 미세구조 단면을 위해 FE-SEM을 이용하였으며 이밖에 박막의 조성, 경도 및 결정구조를 측정하기 위해 EDS, microhardness testing system, XRD를 사용하였다. Al 부피비를 변화시킨 Segment target을 활용한 박막합성에서 박막의 Al함량은 각각 1/11에서 4.6at.%, 1/5에서 8.1at.%, 1/3에서 12.9at.% 로 나타났으며, 박막의 경도는 4.6~12.9at.% 사이의 Al 함량을 갖는 박막에 대해 모두 유사한 값을 가졌으며 31GPa로 측정되었다. 박막의 단면 구조 역시 4.6~12.9at.% 사이의 Al 함량을 갖는 박막에 대해 모두 columnar 구조가 관찰되었다.

Drying Characteristics of Osmotically Pre-treated Carrots (삼투처리한 당근의 건조 특성)

  • The physical characteristics changes of carrots during drying were studied to minimize the quality degradation by applying improved drying process and pretreatment method. Physico-chemical properties of the product were analyzed, and then, drying mechanisms were explained by diffusion coefficients and drying models. In hot air drying process, the drying and rehydration efficiencies were high at low relative humidity and high temperature. Browning degree and specific volume also showed similar trend to drying efficiency. Diffusion coefficient, which describes moisture transfer, was also high at low relative humidity and at high temperature. It was verified using. Arrhenius equation that drying process was influenced by temperature. It was also observed during experiment that temperature changes were more effective in drying than relative humidity changes. Quadratic model was the most fittable in explaining the process. As a result of analyzing the experimental data with respect to the drying time, the contents of carotene and moisture could be modeled as a polynomial. As the air velocity increased, drying performance and rehydration efficiency increased.

Effects of Heat Pretreatment on the Quality under Storage of Fresh Ginger Rhizomes (저장 전 열처리가 생강의 이화학적 및 관능적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Fresh ginger rhizomes were heat-treated for 10 min, 30 min, or 60 min using hot air ($40^{\circ}C$, $50^{\circ}C$, or $60^{\circ}C$), and stored in low-density polyethylene (0.04 mm thickness) bags for 2 months at $12{\pm}1^{\circ}C$. We studied the effects of heat pretreatment on changes in gas levels after packaging, and quality characteristics of the rhizomes. Oxygen and carbon dioxide levels progressively fell and rose, respectively, as the temperature of heat treatment rose and the duration of such treatment was extended. The sprouting rate of ginger rhizomes treated at $40^{\circ}C$ was higher than that of other samples. Rotting, softening, and increasing pH of rhizomes were accelerated by treatment at higher temperature for a longer time. Weight loss and soluble solid levels were not affected by heat treatment. Sensory qualities such as appearance, odor, and overall acceptability of rhizomes fell with treatment at a higher temperature for a longer time. These results suggest that heat pretreatment has a detrimental effect on the quality of fresh ginger rhizomes.

A Study of Milk Waste Recycling as an Energy Source and Reduction of Pollution by Anaerobic Digestion (혐기성 소화를 통한 유가공 폐기물의 에너지원으로의 재활용과 오염 감소 방안에 관한 연구)

  • We confirmed methane production and reduction of pollution during anaerobic digestion of milk waste and analyzed the economic potential of using milk waste as a renewable energy source. The milk waste sludge was obtained from the Pasteur milk factory and processed by anaerobic digestion to produce methane. The methane production from two completely mixed tank reactors with an effective capacity of 6 ${\ell}$, 15 days of hydraulic retention time (HRT), and a mid-temperature of $35^{\circ}C$ averaged 4.11 ${\ell}$/day. The total chemical oxygen demand (TCOD) during production decreased from an initial 31,416 mg/${\ell}$ to 13,500 mg/${\ell}$, showing a maximum TCOD removal efficiency of 60%. When HRT was reduced to 12 days, methane production increased by 44% under a high-temperature condition of $55^{\circ}C$. An economic analysis based on these results was applied to a Korean milk factory of typical size and demonstrated that the installation of an anaerobic digester could provide sufficient economic profit.

Prediction of Long-term Residual Inter-laminar Shear Strength of Thermally Damaged GFRP Rebar (고온손상된 GFRP 보강근의 장기 잔존 계면전단강도 예측)

  • Mechanical properties of GFRP rebars significantly decrease due to high temperature as well as alkalinity of concrete. This study focuses on the long-term reduction of inter-laminar shear strength of pre-damaged GFRP rebars by high temperature. For this investigation, bare GFRP rebar specimens were exposed to $270^{\circ}C$ for 1hour and then immerged in alkali solution for several months and tested in shear. No thermally conditioned specimens were immerged and tested for the comparisons. In results, the reduction of thermally damaged GFRP rebars was greater than that of no thermally damaged ones. Based on the accelerated experimental test data, an polynomial equation is presented for prediction of long-term residual inter-laminar shear strength of GFRP rebars previously damaged by high temperature.

  • 최근 강구조물의 건설이 지속적으로 증가되어 왔다. 또한 강구조물의 유지관리 및 안전성에 대한 관심이 급증하고 있다. 시설물의 안전성 확보는 대형사고의 사전 예방, 공용 중 갑작스런 가동 중지에 의하여 발생되는 비용증가를 사전에 차단 할 수 있다는 점에서 그 중요성은 매우 크다고 할 수 있다. 또한 각종 구조물은 열악한 사용조건, 고온, 고압, 고속, 대형화됨에 따라 일단 사고가 발생 했을 경우 대형사고의 위험이 예상되므로, 제작시 검사의 강화뿐만이 아니라 공용 중 구조물의 안전성을 진단 할 수 있는 모니터링 체계의 확립이 필요한 시점이다. 현재 국내에서 강구조물들의 균열 모니터링 시스템에 관한 연구는 매우 미흡한 실정이며, 현재 사용되고 있는 비파괴검사 방법은 UT와 RT등이다. 이러한 방법들은 많은 시간과 경비가 소요되며 또한 거대구조물 혹은 사람의 접근이 어려운 곳에는 적용하기가 힘들다. 또한 주기적인 검사 작업으로 인한 막대한 시간과 비용의 손실이 발생되고 있으며 초기 결함을 조기에 인지하지 못함으로써 적절한 보수 보강 대책이 이루어지지 않아 보수 보강 비용의 증대를 초래한다. 더욱이, 결함이 진전된 이후에도 이것을 인지하지 못하여 적절한 대응을 하지 않는다면 대형사고로 이어질 수도 있다. 따라서 강구조물에 대한 효율적인 유지관리가 가능하고, 초기결함으로부터 균열이 진전하여 붕괴되는 사고를 미연에 방지하며 초기에 보수보강 작업을 수행함으로써 보수보강 비용도 절감 할 수 있는 모니터링 시스템의 개발이 요구되고 있다. 이러한 모니터링 시스템의 개발은 기술적 측면에서 강구조물의 효율적인 유지 관리 노하우를 얻을 수 있으며 경제 산업적 측면에서는 보수 보강 비용 및 불필요한 주기적 점검 비용을 절감 할 수 있다. 이 연구에서는 전위차법을 이용하여 강구조물의 필렛 용접부에서의 균열진전양상을 파악하고 정량화를 통해 필렛용접부의 잔여수명을 예측하였다.

Interfacial Adhesion and Reliability between Epoxy Resin and Polyimide for Flexible Printed Circuit Board (연성인쇄회로기판의 에폭시수지와 폴리이미드 사이의 계면접착력 및 신뢰성 평가)

  • The effects of KOH pretreatment and annealing conditions on the interfacial adhesion and the reliability between epoxy resin and polyimide substrate in the flexible printed circuit board were quantitatively evaluated using $180^{\circ}$ peel test. The initial peel strength of the polyimide without the KOH treatment was 29.4 g/mm and decreased to 10.5 g/mm after 100hrs at $85^{\circ}C/85%$ R.H. temperature/humidity treatment. In case of the polyimide with annealing after KOH treatment, initial peel strength was 29.6 g/mm and then maintained around 27.5 g/mm after $85^{\circ}C/85%$ R.H. temperature/humidity treatment. Systematic X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis results showed that the peel strength after optimum annealing after KOH treatment was maintained high not only due to effective recovery of the polyimide damage by the polyimide surface treatment process, but also effective removal of metallic ions and impurities during various wet process.

Protein Nutritional Qualities of Hydrocooked Fish Extracts Containing Spicy Vegetables (향신채소를 첨가한 어육 고음 추출물의 단백질 품질평가)

  • Protein nutritional quality of fish extracts processed at $110^{\circ}C$ for 5 hours with spicy vegetables (garlic, onion and ginger) were evaluated using in vitro and in vivo (rat assay) parameters, Protein and total lipid contents were closely related to the degree of discarding floated lipid on fish extracts and the kinds of added spicy vegetables. Hydrocooking ($110^{\circ}C$, 5 hours) tended to result in better protein qualities than high temperature cooking ($136\~140^{\circ}C$). Spicy vegetables had not remarkable effects on improving in vitro protein quality parameters. The fish extract with $10\%$ of ginger was generally higher in vitro protein digestibility than those of the other vegetables. In spite of generally higher in vivo protein digestibility of fish extracts containing spicy vegetables processed at mild condition ($110^{\circ}C$), Protein efficiency ratios (PER) of-these extracts were not higher than those of extracts processed at severe conditions ($136\~140^{\circ}C$).

Markov Chain Properties of Sea Surface Temperature Anomalies at the Southeastern Coast of Korea (한국 남동연안 이상수온의 마르코프 연쇄 성질)

  • The Markov chain properties of the sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies, namely, the dependency of the monthly SST anomaly on that of the previous month, are studied based on the SST data for 28years(1957-1984) at 5 stations in the southeastern coast of Korea. Wi classified the monthly SST anomalies at each station into the low, the normal and the high state, and computed transition probabilities between SST anomalies of two successive months The standard deviation of SST anomalies at each station is used as a reference for the classification of SST anomalies into 3states. The transition probability of the normal state to remain in the same state is about 0.8. The transition probability of the high or the low states to remain in the same state is about one half. The SST anomalies have almost no probability to transit from the high (the low) state to the low (the high) state. Statistical tests show that the Markov chain properties of SST anomalies are stationary in tine and homogeneous in space. The multi-step Markov chain analysis shows that the 'memory' of the SST anomalies at the coastal stations remains about 3 months.

  • Heat-resistance of W/$Y_2O_3$ as throat insert material was evaluated to develop rocket motor keeping thrust uniformly under condition of high-temperature, high-pressure and long-burn time. Test was conducted with varying burn time, and test results were compared with CIT. Test showed that ablation rate was decreased according as burn time was increased, and that ablation rate of W/$Y_2O_3$ was about 55 % of CIT. Macro/micro structures of throat insert did not show a peculiar phenomenon by increased burn time. In addition, the vacuum heat treatment is effective for the prevention of crack in throat insert.
