  • The Ministry of Education of Korea announced the university structural reform plans which reduces 160,000 of the university entrance quota during 10 years from January 2014. Because the reduction plans of entrance quota influence regional economy as well as students and universities, naive evidence of the Ministry of Education of Korea is disappointed. In this research, we forecast the total number of the university entrance exam candidate by 2032 including not only third grade high school students but also repeaters according to the 16 metropolises and provinces in Korea. We also forecast the regional university recruiting rate using the forecasts of the total number of the university entrance exam candidates. However, we can not make more realistic results because we can not apply the inter-regional movement of students to the forecast. In order to handle this limitation, we first estimated the rank of the whole 7,277 departments of all universities in Korea and assigned the quotas according to the estimated rank for each departments and then we calculated the local university recruiting rate. The estimated the university recruiting rates of 16 metropolises and provinces can provide more noticeable results of characteristics and problems than that of nationwide.

  • This study was intended to examine the relationship between lifestyle and school uniform design modification in high school girls and provide basic data for guidance in the wearing of school uniform. The subjects of this study were 585 girls who were in the first and second grades of high schools throughout Gwangju. This study was executed using a questionnaire. The data from this study was processed using SPSS WIN 12.0(Kr). The results were as follows; This study hypothesized that the perception and attitude on school uniform modification would be significantly difference depending on lifestyles in high school girls. The significant differences appeared in a few items. So the results suggested that school uniform modification was a common that appeared in most high school girls. However it was affected by their lifestyle. specifically, a digital-dependence lifestyle group has a few different perceptions and attitudes on school uniform modification than the others. In other words, school uniform modification in high school girls who spend their most time in school is a general and universal clothing behavior by psychological factors rather than the effect of lifestyle. It is considered that rules concerning school uniform modification should allow students to express their individuality within certain limits. Teachers should instruct students to wear appropriate underwear rather than keep students under control with a fixed set of rules. If High school girls have a negative body image as a result of their exposed body, they should receive active educational guidance.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore various factors during the career development period affecting the formation of the perspective on work of young workers after they graduated from high school, and to analyze the influence of each factor. The panel data of the Korean Education Longitudinal Study 2005 was used for the study. Specifically, the data on the 303 employees in the 7th year(2011) of their employment was used. First, perspective of young workers on work was affected by social self (self-awareness-related variables), educational background of their father(family background-related variables), and intrinsic and extrinsic learning motivation(learning motivation-related variables) formed during the career development period. However, extrinsic learning motivation had a passive and negative effect on motivation and giving value to work. Second, the variables related to self-awareness in the career development period and the variables related to the family background were found to have a causal relationship with the formation of young workers' perspective on work. This study is significant in that the learning motives formed during the career development period are found to be very meaningful and important variables for the formation of young workers' perspective on work.

Five hundred fifty students in the second and third grade in the middle school and in the first grade in high school, who had taken the course of 'Clothing Life' and responded to the questionnaires, were enrolled in this study. Questionnaires were sent and collected by mail from December 2007 to January 2008. Most students recognized that the environmental problems in their residences were serious enough to affect their own lives. Only 36.4% of the students, however, expressed the intention to join to the environmental groups and change their clothing lives in order to improve those problems. Also they conceived that the unit of 'Clothing Life' of the 7th 'Technology-Home Economics' curriculum containing only a few statements on the environmental pollution had little relevance to environmental education. According to the results on the class practice rate of environmental education-relevant contents of the unit of 'Clothing Life', the quality of the classes on the environmental education, except the unit of 'Planning and Purchasing Clothes', and the degree of practice of environmental preservation were proved to be low. Subgroup analysis showed that the second grade middle school students as well as female students had the higher interest and class practice rate. Teachers have to try to raise the recognition and the class practice rate of environmental education-relevant contents in the unit of 'Clothing Life' of the 7th 'Technology-Home Economics' curriculum of middle school in the class.
