  • Conventions play important roles as tools for effective marketing. It will be able to understand the changes of particular industry's market, develop a new market and potential clients, and get a chance such as strategic network constructing. To support effective viewing of visitors, conventions have introduced a variety of ubiquitous computing technologies. This study introduces a case of applying the Utility Tag-based convention service system at the Cosmetics & Beauty Expo, Osong Korea 2013. The Utility Tag-based convention service system is constructed total three systems: (1) NFC Tag Management System; allowing effective access and management of NFC tags in various locations and objects, (2) Information Provide System; allowing participating vendors to manage information they want to provide information to visitors, and (3) Utility Tags; providing a variety of service to visitors for effective viewing in exhibition/convention space. This study first explores literature review and applying case related to ubiquitous computing in this field and introduces Applying an Utility Tag-based convention service system. In addition, we analyze visitors' behaviors and association rules by take advantage of collected touch data, present various possible for applications of the Utility Tag-based convention service system.

  • Small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) face a number of different kinds of barriers to adopt information technology, including the lack of information, limited financial and technical resources, and absence of the well-trained work force in the realm of information technology. But application service provider (ASP)enables these SMEs to informatize. This paper is focused on studying the cases of the adoption and use of the ASP-based ERP systems that 7 SME shad adopted. The factors that influence the adoption and use of SMEs' ASP-based ERP systems are divided into the user companies that adopted the systems, the systems vendors, and environment. From the viewpoint of the user company, the successful adoption and use of the systems is significantly influenced by the clear motive of adopting the systems, the financial readiness, and the strong intention of CEO for pushing ahead with e-Business. From the systems vendor, it is influenced by the technical expertise of the vendor, the knowledge of the user company, and the experience of the systems development. From the perspective of environment, it is influenced by the push from the players in the value chains. The companies that had adopted the ASP-based ERP systems and that had extended the level of systems use had the benefits through reducing the cost, improving the internal business process, and achieving the learning and growth of the organization.

  • As the competition becomes more severe, the importance of brand confidence is coming to the front mainly because there has been a tendency of the customer for choosing a product or service in conjunction with the confidence. The concept of brand personality has formed as a result of various efforts for establishing a differentiated and confident brand image. The brand personality is regarded a useful mean for meeting objectives of a corporation for establishing a distinctive brand identity as well as customers for expressing their self-image. In line with the growing importance of the brand personality, researchers have attempted to measure it by various methods. However, most of researches were based on verbal and quantitative methods which take a long period of time and lots of efforts to analyze their results. Such methods also have limitations for visualizing the results. In this vein, this study aims to develop a new visible brand personality measurement system by utilizing the purpose-designed avatar. Major findings of the study are as follows: Firstly, the avatar can be an effective mean for visualizing the brand personality. As the avatar can visualize the personalities of human-beings through facial expressions, clothing, attitudes and movements, a specially designed avatar can express the brand personality. Secondly, types of the brand personality can be segregated into distinctive seven classes and such classes are used as guidelines for developing specially designed brand personality avatars. Thirdly, the purpose-designed brand personality avatar can be an effective mean for measuring the brand personality as a result of various tests for the validity. In condusion, avatar can be a more powerful tool than language for measuring the brand personality.

Fit of the number of insurance solicitor's turnovers using zero-inflated negative binomial regression (영과잉 음이항회귀 모형을 이용한 보험설계사들의 이직횟수 적합)

  • This study aims to find the best model to fit the number of insurance solicitor's turnovers of life insurance companies using count data regression models such as poisson regression, negative binomial regression, zero-inflated poisson regression, or zero-inflated negative binomial regression. Out of the four models, zero-inflated negative binomial model has been selected based on AIC and SBC criteria, which is due to over-dispersion and high proportion of zero-counts. The significant factors to affect insurance solicitor's turnover found to be a work period in current company, a total work period as financial planner, an affiliated corporation, and channel management satisfaction. We also have found that as the job satisfaction or the channel management satisfaction gets lower as channel management satisfaction, the number of insurance solicitor's turnovers increases. In addition, the total work period as financial planner has positive relationship with the number of insurance solicitor's turnovers, but the work period in current company has negative relationship with it.

  • The third-party logistics industry mainly delivers goods from a place to an arrival place on behalf of the freight owner. To handle the work, they need a transportation route including transportation equipment between the starting place and the arrival place, schedule information for departure/arrival and transportation cost. Actually, automatic searching for an optimal transportation route, which considers arrival and departure points for intermodal transportation, is not a simple problem. To search efficiently transportation route, the collection of schedule information for intermodal transportation and transportation route generation have become critical and vital issues for logistics companies. Usually, they manually make a plan for a transportation route by their experience. Because of this, they are limited in their ability if there is too much cargo volume and a great many transactions. Furthermore, their dependence on the conventional way in doing business causes an inefficient selection of transporters or transportation routes. Also, it fails to provide diverse alternatives for transportation routes to the customers, and as a result, increases logistics costs. In an effort to solve these problems, this study aims to develop a route planning system based on agent, which can collect scattered schedule information on the Web. The route planning system also has an algorithm for transportation route generation in intermodal transportation.

  • The software defects that are not found in the course of a project frequently appear during the conduct of the maintenance procedure after the complete development of the software. As the frequency of surfacing of defects during the maintenance procedure increases, the cost likewise increases, and the quality and customer reliability decreases. The defect rate will go down only if cause analysis and process improvement are constantly performed. This study embodies the defect tracking system (DTS) by considering the Pareto principle: that most defects are repetitions of defects that have previously occurred. Based on the records of previously occurring defects found during the conduct of a maintenance procedure, DTS tracks the causes of the software defects and provides the developer, operator, and maintenance engineer with the basic data for the improvement of the software concerned so that the defect will no longer be manifested or repeated. The basic function of DTS is to analyze the defect type, provide the measurement index for it, and aggregate the program defect type. Doing these will pave the way for the full correction of all the defects of a software as it will enable the defect correction team to check the measured defect type. When DTS was applied in the software configuration management system of the W company, around 65% of all its software defects were corrected.

Roles of Buyer's Trust and Distrust in Open Markets: Focusing on Transfer between Intermediary and Seller (오픈마켓에서 구매자의 신뢰와 불신의 역할: 중개업체와 판매자간 전이를 중심으로)

  • This study investigates the effects of trust and distrust on intention to purchase in open markets, based on the ideas derived from previous studies such as coexistence of trust and distrust, and two distinct trustees in open markets-intermediary and sellers. Specifically, this study i) proposes a trust-distrust model of intermediary and sellers, ii) explores the transfer of trust and distrust from intermediary to sellers, and iii) discovers the antecedents of trust and distrust. The empirical validation using Partial Least Squares shows three results as follows. First, trust in intermediary positively affects intention to purchase through the mediated impact of trust in sellers. That is, trust in intermediary transfers to trust in sellers. Second, distrust in intermediary negatively affects intention to purchase through the mediated impact of customers' perceived risk. Third, structural assurance and perceived website quality positively affect trust in intermediary. The results of this research have implications for intermediary firms not only to build trust but also to manage distrust level. However, this study could not identify any antecedent of distrust, so further research for these antecedents will be needed in the future.

An Underlying Research for Developing VOD Service using Feature-Oriented Analysis Model (피처지향 분석모델을 적용한 VOD 서비스 개발을 위한 기반연구)

  • VOD (Video-On Demand) Services are considered to be one of the most successful data broadcasting services, along with Electronic Program Guides (EPGs). In particular, VOD services provide supplementary revenue for broadcasting companies in addition to the existing subscription fees and advertisement-based revenue. Therefore, each broadcasting company has developed its own VOD service and constantly seeks to improve it. This leads to the development of new VOD services, so developers are considering ways to effectively handle the frequent development needs. In this background, we conducted underlying research to apply the feature-oriented analysis model to the development of VOD services. The feature-oriented analysis model used in this study is the Feature-Oriented Domain Analysis (FODA) one developed by SEI of Carnegie Mellon University. FODA provides a tool for specifying the feature model of a software domain, based on which the developers can determine the configuration of the software with the customers. This study developed a feature model of the VOD service domain and devised the functionalities and test cases in an integrated manner with the feature model. Additionally, we proposed a VOD service development process utilizing the feature model, function specification, and test cases.

A Study on the Estimation of Click Through Rates from Internet Search Results and their Value in the Evaluation of the Attractiveness of a Business Idea (사업 아이디어 매력도 평가를 위한 인터넷 검색엔진 광고 클릭률 추정에 관한 연구)

  • The establishment of a successful business must be preceded by comprehensive entrepreneurial preparation and research, as well as the development of a truly attractive business idea. Research to-date has tended to be based solely on factors relating to entrepreneurial activity or business performance. Research into the development and evaluation of a business idea has been insufficient. The purpose of this research is to propose a methodology for evaluating the attractiveness of a business idea objectively. This research measures the attractiveness of a business idea by the click through rate (CTR) to a website generated by specific keyword entry into internet search engines. The attractiveness of a business idea can be presented by the formula: number of relevant keyword searches x CTR on search results. As the number of searches for individual keywords is published by the search engines and it is possible to estimate CTRs for specific search results, we can objectively evaluate the attractiveness of a business idea. By analyzing keyword search data and CTRs obtained from search engines over a one month period, 1124 keywords that relate to foreign language education have been identified. A regression formula has also been derived, predicting the click through rate for search results. This research and its findings can be used to raise the success rates of new businesses; proposing objective guidelines for business idea development and evaluation. It is particularly meaningful because it introduces a new methodology to the arena.

A Study for Reliability Improvement of Belt Type Door System using FMECA (FMECA 적용을 통한 벨트식 도어시스템 신뢰성 향상에 관한 연구)

  • As a modem urban train is getting complex in terms of high-technology in its systems and components, the failure management should be performed with scientific and systematic technique. FMEA is a technique to analyze the failure trends of component parts and influences to the higher level system in order to discover the design incompleteness and potential defects, which is for improving reliability. Especially, FMECA (Failure Mode Effects, and Criticality Analysis) is used in case that the criticality that has an immense influence to the system is important. In case of urban train, in its design and manufacturing steps, FMEA is frequently used as an analysis technique to meet the safety objectives and eliminate potential hazards/failures since the concepts of reliability of train is introduced these days. Though, FMEA technique in the maintenances steps lacks in its investigation and applications yet. FMEA is also not applied to the trains operated by Seoul metro in the design and manufacture steps excepts the newest trains. In this paper, through analyzing the failures/maintenance data of the belt-type door systems used in trains operated in Seoul metro Line 1, which is accumulated in RIMS (Rolling-stock Information Maintenance System), FMEA procedures to the belt-type door engines are proposed. Especially, an effort is made, to approach the detailed FMECA procedures to the door magnet valve and switch and door engine devices which vastly influences the customer safety and satisfaction.
