고분자 재료의 계장화 충격실험에 관한 연구 (Instrumented Impact Testing of Polymers)

  • Impact behavior of polycarbonate in various defect state was investigated using an instrumented impact tester. A method of analyzing raw impact data was developed and successfully demonshsted the impact behavior in terms of load-displacement and energy-displacement curves. This technique was shown to be capable of separating defect no-defect initiated fractures as well as their propagation behaviors.

  • 본 연구에서는 발포 폴리프로필렌(Expanded polypropylene)과 발포 폴리스티렌(Expanded polystyrene)의 준정적 시험(Quasi-static test) 및 계장화 충격 시험(Instrumented impact test)을 수행하였다. EPP와 EPS는 4가지의 다른 밀도에 대해 원통형 시편이 준비되었다. 준정적 시험에는 MTS 858을 사용하여 0.001 $s^{-1}$과 0.1 $s^{-1}$ 두 가지 변형률속도 조건으로 진행되어 결과를 분석하였다. 계장화 충격 시험에서는 Instron dynatup 9250HV를 사용하여, 각각 100 J, 200 J, 300 J의 서로 다른 충격에너지를 가했을 때의 응력-변형률 선도 결과를 비교 분석하였다.

  • In order to investigate the mechanical behavior of newly developed materials, the evaluation of mechanical properties using small-size specimen is essential. For those purposes, an instrumented impact testing apparatus, which provides the load-displacement curve under impact loading without oscillations, was devised. To develop the test procedure with the setup, the impact behaviors of various kinds of structural materials such as S45C, SCM4, Ti alloys (Ti-6V-4Al) and Zr-based bulk amorphous metal, were investigated through the instrumented Charpy V-notch impact tests. The calibrations of the dynamic load and displacement that was calculated based on the Newton' second law were carried out through the quasi-static load test and the comparison of a directly measured value using a laser displacement meter. Satisfactory results could be obtained. The crack initiation and propagation processes during impact fracture could be well divided on the curve, depending on the intrinsic characteristic of specimen tested; ductile or brittle. The absorbed impact energy in Zr-basd BAM was largely used for crack initiation not for crack propagation process. The fracture surfaces under impact loading showed different feature when compared with the static cases.

유효 $K_{1d}$ 산정을 위한 샬피 충격시험편의 노치형상에 관한 연구 (An Evaluation of Notch Shpae for Estimation of Available $K_{1d}$ by Instrumented Charpy Impact Test)

  • This investigation evaluates effects of notch depth, fatigue precrack length and side groove in impact specimen for estimation of a valid K1d by instrumented Charpy impact test. Specimen material is 6005-T6. for notch depth 2.0mm and 2.5mm specimens or within about 2mm fatigue precrack length with notch depth 2.0mm and 2.5mm specimens or within about 2mm fatigue precrack length with notch depth 2.0mm , dynamic fracture toughness [$K_{1d,(1)}$] obtained by crack initiation load($P_m$) should be used. Dynamic fracture toughness of side grooved specimens are overestimated to that of standard impact specimen about 15 %-20%. It is confirmed that the formula of dynamic fracture toughness obtained by impact absorbed energy is inappropriate for ductile materials.

  • In this study, investigations were conducted in calculating parameters of elastic-plastic fracture mechanics using single specimen. The validity of these testing methods was judged by the confirmation of multiple specimen method of stop block test. The results were as follows: In order to measure a fracture toughness using the instrumented impact test, two general requirement must be considered; One, setting up proper impact velocity considered the effect of loading and the other, the necessity of low blow test for obtaining true energy by the compliance correction. It was possible to detect a crack initiation point by calculating the compliance changing rate from a load-defection curve. Criterion of a stable crack growth, $T_{mat}$ could be estimated by using key-curve method for a base metal. and combining Kaiser's rebound compliance with Paris-Hutchison's $T_{appl}$ equation for the brittled zone of welding heat affected.at affected.d.

계장화 샬피 충격시험에 의한 동적 파괴거동 해석 (Analysis of Dynamic Fracture Behavior by Using Instrumented Charpy Impact Test)

  • This investigation evaluates dynamic fracture characteristics of two alloy steels (STD-11 and STS-3) and a gray cast iron (GC-30). The dynamic fracture toughness of crack initiation and some of the dynamic fracturing characteristics were evaluated by using the instrumented Charpy impact testing procedures. It was found from experimental results for three kinds of materials that inertia force is directly proportional to impact velocity. The duration time of inertia force was found to be constant regardless of impact velocities in steel specimens.

원자로 압력용기강의 인성평가를 위한 샤피충격 하중-변위 곡선의 해석

  • 국산 원자로 압력용기강(ASME SA508 cl.3)을 대상으로 표준 샤피충격시험편(2 mm V- notch)과 피로균열(precracked Charpy) 시험편을 제작하여 계장화(instrumented)충격시험을 실시하고, 충격시험시 하중점(load point)의 변위(displacement) 혹은 시간의 변화를 하중의 변화와 함께 측정하였다. 측정결과를 파괴현상 및 파괴역학과 연계시켜 해석하므로서, 가능한한 소량의 시험편(혹은 시험공정)을 사용하여 필요로 하는 인성평가 관련 정보를 획득할 수 있도록 시도하였다. 그 결과, 파괴과정을 나타내는 하중의 변화를 이용하여 Shear fraction 을 예측할 수 있었고, 하중의 변화와 관계된 변위로부터 Lateral expansion을 추정할 수 있었다. 피로균열 시험편 시험결과로 부터는 충격시의 항복하중, 항복변위, 최고하중 등을 획득하여 균열크기의 함수로 표시되는 시험편 Compliance 를 계산하였고, Equivalent energy 법과 J-integral 법을 적용하여 원자로 압력용기강의 탄소성 동적파괴인 성을 평가할 수 있었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 Kim 등[7]이 제시한 4가지의 다른 밀도를 갖는 원통형 시험편으로한 EPP(Expanded polypropylene)의 준정적(Quasi-static test) 및 충격 시험(Impact test) DB를 바탕으로 Jeong 등[12]이 제시한 폴리우레탄(Polyurethane)에 대한 구성방정식을 EPP 폼에 대하여 다시 정의 하여 충격량-운동량 이론을 접목시켜 새로운 구성방정식을 제안하기위한 DB 구축을 목표로 하였다.

  • The Charpy and Izod impact tests are the most prevalent techniques used to characterize the effects of high impulse loads on ploymeric materials. An analysis method for rubber toughened PVC is suggested to evaluate critical dynamic strain energy release rates(G$\_$c/) from the Charpy impact energy measurements. An instrumented Charpy impact tester was used to extract ancillary information concerning fracture parameters in addition to total fracture energies and maximum critical loads. The dynamic stress intensity factor Kid was computed for varying amounts of rubber contents from the obtained maximum critical loads and also toughening effects were investigated as well.

  • Cemented carbides, best known for their superior mechanical properties such as high strength, high hardness and high wear resistance, have a wide range of industrial applications including metal working tools, mining tools, and wear resistance components. The cobalt has been used as a binder in the WC-based hard composites due to its outstanding wetting and adhesion characteristics even though its expensiveness. Therefore many studies attempted to find a better substitute for cobalt as binder to decrease production costs. This investigation is a pre-step to study dynamic fracture characteristic evaluation of a WC-Co hardmetal were evaluated by using the instrumented Charpy impact testing procedures. It was found that the dynamic characteristics of used strain amplifier were very important experimental factors to extract valid dynamic fracturing data in WC-Co specimens. It was suggested by showing some experimental examples that when we wished to evaluate dynamic fracture toughness for cemented carbide composites by using the instrumented Charpy impact testing procedure, a careful attention must be given to obtain valid results.
