Object : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between pattern identification (PI) and stroke risk factors, such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, stroke history, obesity, abdominal obesity and metabolic syndrome. Methods : 46 patients with acute ischemic stroke were recruited from May 2012 to November, 2012. We analyzed the data of 32 patients, and pattern identification was identified by resident and specialist of Korean medicine. We analized patient's PI and risk factor by Fisher's exact test. Results : We found that Dampness-phlegm group was more related with patient's metabolic syndrome than non Dampness-Phlegm group. And Yin deficiency group had less relationship with patient's metabolic syndrome, obesity, abdominal obesity and dyslipidemia than non Yin deficiency group. Conclusions : According to the analysis, these results provide evidence for relationship between the Dampness-phlegm group, Yin deficiency and metabolic syndrome.

Object : The purpose of this study is to observe the correlation between change in pattern identification symptoms and scandinavian stroke scale in ischemic stroke patient who had receive traditional Korean medical treatment and conservative treatment. Methods : 43 subjects were recruited from patients with ischemic stroke within 30 days of onset. We chose the subjects who had at least one follow up session and had checked the score between last follow up session and first session in pattern identification and scandinavian stroke scale. We also assessed the correlation between pattern identification and scandinavian stroke scale. Results : There were significant negative correlation between pattern identification and scandinavian stroke scale in Fire-heat pattern and positive correlation in Dampness-phlegm pattern. Conclusions : This study provides evidence that collaborative treatment maybe effective in improving neurologic symptoms in ischemic stroke patients diagnosed as Fire-heat pattern. Further studies with larger scale and longer observation period, more neurologicscales scales, control group would be required.

In the RNA-based study, it is important to extract high-quality RNA. However, RNA extraction from Mycobacterium tuberculosis is problematic due to its thick, waxy cell wall rich in mycolic acid, which renders the cells resistant to lysis. Using TRIzol reagent and several powerful bead-beating steps, a high quantity of RNA was obtained.

Once upon a time people dreamt for a connected world. But most of the people consider dream as simple as a dream. But when this dream come into reality, the dreamer sometimes alive and sometimes not. But the later generations get outcome from the visionary dream of the former. This is the way of life. If we consider the whole world as a cyber physical system, if everything connects everything, how do we feel then? It is the smart Internet of things that may connect the whole world. This paper addresses few challenges and opportunities of this envisioned connected World. We identify different systems as cyber physical system and it ultimately contribute to the cloud infrastructure.

This case is about 68-year-old woman patient, who suffered from 'fever of unknown origin, abdominal distension and diarrhea'. She was diagnosed as Taeumin and diarrhea as that of 'The Interior Disease of Taeumin'. So she was given Galgeunhaegitang and had gotten better in her symptoms.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the improvement of vulvodynia and genital pruritus caused by unidentified genital ulcer after Korean medicine treatment. Methods: The patient who complained vulvodynia and genital pruritus caused by unidentified genital ulcers was treated by acupuncture, moxibustion, fumigation, and herbal medicine as Eunhwasagan-tang, Guibi-tang-gami-bang for 5 days. The effect of treatment was evaluated by Numeral Rating Scale (NRS), The 5 level of EuroQol 5 Dimension scale (EQ-5D-5L), EuroQol-Visual Analog Scale (EQ-VAS). Results: After the treatment, the chief complaint and general conditions were improved. NRS was decreased from 8 to 3 and scores of EQ-5D-5L and EQ-VAS were increased from 0.416, 10 to 0.904, 80 each. Conclusion: This study shows that the skin lesion, vulvodynia, and pruitus caused by genital ulcer was improved after the Korean traditional treatment and it can be effective medical alternatives or options for genital ulcer patients.

■ Objectives This case report is reported to show the effect of Ukgansan and Hwangnyeonhaedok-tang on a patient who complaining myoclonic seizure due to psychogenic non epileptic seizure, occurred after traumatic stress event. ■ Methods A female patients with myolconic seizure was treated with Ukgansan and Hwangnyeonhaedok-tang during 5 days. Then we assessed dyskinesia severity by AIMS(Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale) every two days til discharge. ■ Results Seizure decreased two days after hospitalization, then disappeared third day. There was no recurrence till discharge. When she revisited outpatients clinic, there was no symptom. ■ Conclusion This case showed the effect of Ukgansan and Hwangnyeonhaedok-tang on psychogenic epileptic seizure.

Objectives: This study was designed to investigate the clinical effectiveness of Ikgibohyeol-tang(Yìqìbǔxuè-tāng) granules and Deer antler granules on fatigue symptoms. Methods: This is a 39-patient case series from a retrospective chart review of outpatients who were treated with Ikgibohyeol-tang granules and Deer antler granules at a Kyung Hee University Korean Medicine Hospital (Seoul) between 1st, January 2015 to 1st, August 2021. We reviewed the patients who complained of fatigue and analyzed changes in the degree of discomfort with fatigue and accompanying symptoms and HRV (Heart Rate Variability) score before and after treatment. Results: After taking Ikgibohyeol-tang granules and Deer antler granules, the degree of discomfort with fatigue and accompanying symptoms decreased significantly compared to before taking them. After treatment, Autonomic nervous system activity, Stress resistance, Heart Stability increased, and Stress index, Degree of fatigue decreased significantly. Conclusions: This study showed subjective symptoms and objective indicator (HRV score) were improved by taking Ikgibohyeol-tang granules and Deer antler granules.

Background: The study reports the effect of Korean medicine treatment on a patient with left facial palsy caused by Wegener's granulomatosis. Case information: The patient was receiving steroid treatment for facial palsy and was hospitalized for 21 days. He received acupuncture, electroacupuncture, bee venom pharmacopuncture, and moxibustion treatment along with Ssanghwa-tang and Cheongansohabwon herbal medicine treatment. During hospitalization, the Sunnybrook facial grading scale, House-Brackmann scale and length of time for the eye to completely close were evaluated at 11/16, 11/21, 11/27, 12/1, and 12/6. Post treatment, the degree of the movement in the left eyelid was improved, it took less time for the eye to close completely, the movement of the forehead wrinkle muscles improved, but that of the facial muscles under the eyes and left orbicularis oculi muscle showed little improvement. Conclusion: Korean medicine treatment for facial palsy caused by Wegener's Granulomatosis helps restore mobility of the forehead and orbicularis oculi muscles.

Objectives This study was perfomed to assess the adherance to CARE (CAse REport) guideline of case reports in the Journal of Korean Medicine Rehabilitation Methods We searched the case reports published in the Journal of Korean Medicine Rehabilitation from January 2016 to April 2019 in the database of oriental medicine advanced searching integrated system (OASIS). Then we evaluated the quality of the searched case reports based on the CARE guideline. Results Totally 31 papers were selected after the screening the case reports by the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The report rate of the sub-items of the CARE guideline was 78.26% at the maximum, 60.87% at the maximum, and 70.97% on the average. The following items were reported only in less than 50% of them; 'Timeline', 'Diagnostic challenges', 'Diagnostic reasoning including other diagnoses considered' 'Prognostic characteristics', 'Follow-up and Outcomes', 'Patient Perspective', 'Informed Consent' Conclusions This study is expected to contribute to the overall improvement of the level of case reports in the Journal of Korean Medicine Rehabilitation.
