  • Purpose : Alport syndrome is clinically characterized by hereditary progressive nephritis causing ESRD with irregular thickening of the GBM and sensory neural hearing loss. The mutations of type IV collagen gene(COL4A5) located on the long arm of X chromosome is considered responsible for most of the structural abnormalities in the GBM of Alport patients. Since no definite clinical prognostic predictor has been reported in the disease yet, we designed this study to evaluate the significance of genetic polymorphism of the angiotensin converting enzyme in children with Alport syndrome as a prognostic factor for disease progression. Methods : ACE I/D genotype were examined by PCR amplification of the genomic DNA in 12 patients with Alport syndrome and 12 of their family members. Alport patients were divided into two groups; the conservative group, those who had preserved renal function for more than 10 years of age, the early CRF group, those who had progressed to CRF within 10 years of age. Results : The mean age of onset was $3.45{\pm}2.4$ years in the conservative group, $4.4{\pm}1.2$ years in the early CRF group. Sex ratios were 5:3 and 2:1 in each group. Among 12 cases of patients, 4 cases were in early CRF group and their mean duration of onset to CRF was 4.5 yews(8.9 years of age). Eight patients(67%) were in the conservative group and they had normal renal function for more than 10 years of age(mean duration of renal preservation was 10.6 years). The incidence of II type ACE gene were in 25.0%(3 cases), ID type in 41.7%(5 cases), DD type in 33.3%(4 cases). There was no significant difference between Alport patient and normal control(II type 44.3%, ID type 40.9%, DD type 14.8%). The incidence of DD type of early CRF group were higher than that of the conservative group(75% vs 12.5%)(p<0.05). There was no difference in ACE gene polymorphism between normal Alport family members and control group. Conclusion : Even though there was no significant difference of ACE polymorphism between Alport patients and the normal control group, the incidence of DD type is significantly increased in early CRF group which means DD type of ACE polymorphism has a possibility of being a predictor for early progression to CRF in Alport patients.

  • Due to increase in software-based new technologies, software developers are being required to creative problem solving. Especially, for a successful business change of software developers into a new industrial field, software analysis phase and design phase are important and it is an important task to strengthen these competences. In this study, two independent researches were conducted. First, a survey with 300 software developers was conducted and it was explored that uniform thinking of software developers caused by application of "standard software development methodology" made it difficult to approach creative problem solving. Based on this finding, the influences of 9 competences of computational thinking on software developers were analyzed after selecting 111 software developers with over 10 years of experience in the IT industry. As a result, it was revealed that abstraction was an important competence. The study finding demonstrates that software developers recognized design phase as the most important thing and abstraction of CT is the basics of other competences.

  • It is time to extensively reshuffle domestic film industry, which has grown rapidly in recent years. Above all, a most urgent task for domestic film industry is to train specialized staff by working out a foundation for on-site human resource education. For this, it is necessary to review the existing apprenticeship system-a major educational system for domestic film industry for a long time-and then work out a reasonable substitute which can overcome its limitations and succeed its advantages. In other words, it is necessary to switch a current perpendicular rank system, a basis of apprenticeship system, to a horizontal specialized staff system and then establish an industrial information network with which the current status of on-site human resources can be understood and which can comprehensively manage their career, promotion and wages. In this regard, this study suggested the introduction of workplace learning and mentoring as a new system for on-site human resource education for film industry, in order to work out an educational system that could maintain abundant on-site experience and the sense of emotional tie with fellow workers-the advantages of apprenticeship system-and realize a more systematic and specialized workplace learning.

  • This study is a survey and research attempted to seek the ways of effective human resource management and improving the quality of nursing - targeting the nurses working for the general hospitals - by analyzing the impact of job satisfaction and job stress factors on exhaustion and turnover intentions, so as to find the nurses' turnover factors and remove those factors in advance. Although we cannot raise job satisfaction to the level we are satisfied by monetary compensation, i.e. salary alone, but as seen in this study, it is worth considering such ways as the subjects with high salaries showed relatively higher job satisfaction. Finally, in order to prevent the turnover of the competent nursing staff at an early stage, active systematic supplements and efforts are required; it is also necessary to provide constant job training, by taking into account of the specificity of nursing units and to secure and place adequate nursing staff, and to establish fair and objective promotion criteria.

  • Information and communication technologies(ICT) allow and force people to work anywhere, anytime using remote databases and application systems available in real-time twenty four hours a day and seven days a week. With the real time nature of ICT, individual work is becoming more and more fragmented. Instead of working on a similar task repeatedly, individuals are required to respond to e-mails and inquiries through social networks, work on planning documents, work on presentation documents, work on spreadsheets, input necessary data on company databases, generate necessary reports from the database, run teleconference, etc., all maybe in a day's work. Work fragmentation may impact negatively on productivity as the flow is interrupted, but it may increase the productivity by allowing people to handle multiple tasks in a shorter time period. This study explores the types of work fragmentation and their characteristics. An online survey was administered to collect data about work fragmentation and work characteristics including autonomy, complexity, flexibility, usage of ICT, etc. 300 cases were used in the analysis. Analysis of k-mean cluster indicated four different types of work fragmentation: concentrated, temporally distributed, spatially distributed, and fully fragmented.

In addition, this research was conducted to contribute to medical centers' preparation of measures to strengthen the personal information protection by identifying the factors affecting dental hygienists' extent of performance related to the patient's personal information protection. After explaining the purpose and meaning of the research to the survey participants and gaining their consent, a self-administered survey was conducted from November 7, 2014 to June 30, 2015. The data on 210 dental hygienists in Busan city and Gyeongsangnam-do province was used for analysis. As a result, in dental hygienists with more than 10 years experience, the extent of the performance was significantly high (p<.05). In positions higher than a senior manager, the extent of knowledge was high (p<.01) and the extent of performance was significantly high (p<.05). In hospitals with more than 10 to 20 workers, the extent of awareness was significantly high (p<.05). Regarding the correlation of knowledge and the extent of awareness and performance, a high level of knowledge showed a positive correlation of the extent of awareness and performance (p<.01). As a result of a survey regarding what effects dental hygienists' knowledge and extent of awareness of patient's personal information protection have on dental hygienists' extent of performance, it was found that knowledge (.231) and the extent of awareness (.212) are factors affecting the extent of performance. Therefore, to increase the extent of dental hygienists' performance of patient's personal information protection, there is a need to improve the knowledge of patient's personal information protection and change its awareness. To change the awareness of patient's personal information protection, there is a serious need to carry out education targeting dental hygienists.
