  • Missing data is one of the common problems in building analysis or prediction models using software project data. Missing imputation methods are known to be more effective missing data handling method than deleting methods in small software project data. While K nearest neighbor imputation is a proper missing imputation method in the software project data, it cannot use non-missing information of incomplete project instances. In this paper, we propose an approach to missing data imputation for numerical software project data by combining K nearest neighbor and maximum likelihood estimation; we also extend the average absolute error measure by normalization for accurate evaluation. Our approach overcomes the limitation of K nearest neighbor imputation and outperforms on our real data sets.

  • In this paper, we propose a Sequential Adaptive Nearest Neighbor(SANN) imputation method that combines the Adaptive Nearest Neighbor(ANN) method and the Sequential k-Nearest Neighbor(SKNN) method. When choosing the nearest neighbors of missing observations, the proposed SANN method takes the local feature of the missing observations into account as well as reutilizes the imputed observations in a sequential manner. By using a Monte Carlo study and a real data example, we demonstrate the characteristics of the SANN method and its potential performance.

  • Many researchers make efforts to evaluate water quality using various models. Such models require a dataset without missing values, but in real world, most datasets include missing values for various reasons. Simple deletion of samples having missing value(s) could distort distribution of the underlying data and pose a significant risk of biasing the model's inference when the missing mechanism is not MCAR. In this study, to explore the most appropriate technique for handing missing values in water quality data, several imputation techniques were experimented based on existing KNN and MICE imputation with/without the generative neural network model, Autoencoder(AE) and Denoising Autoencoder(DAE). The results shows that KNN and MICE combined imputation without generative networks provides the closest estimated values to the true values. When evaluating binary classification models based on support vector machine and ensemble algorithms after applying the combined imputation technique to the observed water quality dataset with missing values, it shows better performance in terms of Accuracy, F1 score, RoC-AuC score and MCC compared to those evaluated after deleting samples having missing values.

  • Collaborative filtering is one of the most widely used methodologies for recommendation system. Collaborative filtering is based on a data matrix of each customer's preferences and frequently, there exits missing data problem. We introduced two imputation approach (multiple imputation via Markov Chain Monte Carlo method and multiple imputation via bootstrap method) to improve the prediction performance of collaborative filtering and evaluated the performance using EachMovie data.

  • Time course gene expression data is a large amount of data observed over time in microarray experiments. This data can also simultaneously identify the level of gene expression. However, the experiment process is complex, resulting in frequent missing values due to various causes. In this paper, we propose a pattern consistency index adaptive nearest neighbors as a method of missing value imputation. This method combines the adaptive nearest neighbors (ANN) method that reflects local characteristics and the pattern consistency index that considers consistent degree for gene expression between observations over time points. We conducted a Monte Carlo simulation study to evaluate the usefulness of proposed the pattern consistency index adaptive nearest neighbors (PANN) method for two yeast time course data.

  • With the recent development of smart healthcare technology, interest in daily diseases is increasing. However, healthcare data has an imbalance between positive and negative data. This is caused by the difficulty of collecting data because there are relatively many people who are not patients compared to patients with certain diseases. Data imbalances need to be adjusted because they affect performance in ongoing learning during disease prediction and analysis. Therefore, in this paper, We replace missing values through multiple imputation in detection models to determine whether they are prevalent or not, and resolve data imbalances through over-sampling. Based on AutoML using preprocessed data, We generate several models and select top 3 models to generate ensemble models.
