A Novel Method of Determining Parameters for Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (대비제한 적응 히스토그램 평활화에서 매개변수 결정방법)

  • Histogram equalization, which stretches the dynamic range of intensity, is the most common method for enhancing the contrast of image. Contrast limited adaptive histogram equalization(CLAHE), proposed by K. Zuierveld, has two key parameters: block size and clip limit. These parameters mainly control image quality, but have been heuristically determined by user. In this paper, we propose a novel method of determining two parameters of CLAHE using entropy of image. The key idea is based on the characteristics of entropy curves: clip limit vs entropy and block size vs entropy. Clip limit and block size are determined at the point with maximum curvature on entropy curve. Experimental results show that the proposed method improves images with very low contrast.

Effect of Reaction Conditions on Crystals in the Reaction Crystallization of Lanthanum Oxalate (란타늄 옥살레이트 반응성 결정화에서 반응조건에 따른 결정입자 연구)

  • Effects of reaction conditions such as power input and feeding time and feeding mode of reactants on the reaction crystallization of lanthanum oxalate in semi-batch reactor were investigated experimentally. Even though the crystal size distribution of lanthanum oxalate was always monomodal, its mean crystal size was significantly varied with the reaction conditions. As the power input and reactant feeding rate increased, the mean crystal size was reduced and the relative induction time was prolonged. The mean crystal size produced in oxalic acid feeding mode was smaller than that in lanthanum chloride feeding mode, but the trend of the relative induction time with the feeding mode was reverse to that of the mean crystal size. The crystal morphology of lanthanum oxalate, which was produced within the ranges of the reaction conditions in our experiment, was maintained as a needle shape.

  • 기존의 이론적 연구와 실험적 연구를 바탕으로 충돌 제트의 수치 모델을 개발하였다. 본 모델은 like-doublet 충돌제트로부터 생성되는 액적의 모든 특성을 액막이 분열되는 시점에서 결정한다. 액적 특성을 결정하기 위해 이론적 연구로부터 얻어진 액막 두께, 액주의 직경, 액적 크기와 실험적 연구로부터 얻어진 액막/액적 속도, 액막 분열 거리, 분열 주파수, 액적 질량 유량 분포를 이용하였다. 액적의 질량 유량 분포는 Laplace 분포로부터 표준 편차를 이용하여 모사하였다. 또한 실험 결과를 이용하여 액막 분열 거리, 분열 주기, 표준 편차에 대한 경험식을 유도하였다. 개발된 모델은 정성적인 분무 패턴뿐만 아니라 정량적인 SMD 및 질량 유량 분포에서 실험 결과와 잘 일치한다.

  • An electron Boltzmann equation is solved numerically to calculate the electron energy distribution functions in plasma discharge which is generated by radio-frequency (RF) and microwave frequency electric field. The maintenance field strengths are determined self-consistently by solving the homogeneous electron Boltzmann equation in the Lorentz approximation expressed by 2nd order differential equation and an additional particle balance equation expressed by integro-differential equation. By using this numerical code, the electron energy distribution functions in argon discharge are calculated in the range from RF to microwave frequency. The influence of frequency of the HF electric field on the electron energy distribution functions and ionization rate are investigated.

A simple diagnostic statistic for determining the size of random forest (랜덤포레스트의 크기 결정을 위한 간편 진단통계량)

  • In this study, a simple diagnostic statistic for determining the size of random forest is proposed. This method is based on MV (margin of victory), a scaled difference in the votes at the infinite forest between the first and second most popular categories of the current random forest. We can note that if MV is negative then there is discrepancy between the current and infinite forests. More precisely, our method is based on the proportion of cases that -MV is greater than a fixed small positive number (say, 0.03). We derive an appropriate diagnostic statistic for our method and then calculate the distribution of the statistic. A simulation study is performed to compare our method with a recently proposed diagnostic statistic.

  • 세리아는 고체 산화물 연료전지(SOFC, solid oxide fuel cell)의 전해질 재료와CMP( chemical mechanical polishing) 슬러리 재료, 자동차의 3원 촉매, gas sensor, UV absorbent등 여러 분야에서 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 세리아의 입자의 크기와 형상을 조절하여 성능 및 물성을 향상시켜 보다 넓은 분야의 활용을 하고자 실험을 실시하였다. 세리아 합성에 사용되는 전구체인 cerium carbonate의 특성이 세리아 분말의 물리화학적 특성에 직접적인 영향을 주기 때문에 전구체의 합성 단계에서 형상과 크기를 조절하고자 하였다. 세륨염으로 cerium nitrate hexahydrate, 균일침전반응을 할 수 있는 urea를 침전제로 사용하였다. 반응 용매의 유전상수를 조절하고 반응의 과포화도 변화를 이용하기 위하여 에탄올을 첨가하여 입자의 크기 및 형상을 조절, cubic형태의 $Ce_2O(CO_3)_2{\cdot}H_2O$ 결정상을 가지는 세리아 전구체를 합성하였다. 이렇게 생성된 전구체를 $1000^{\circ}C$에서 2시간동안 하소하여 세리아를 합성하고 반응시간, 농도, 에탄올의 함량 변화에 대해 XRD, FE-SEM, particle size analyzer, micropore physisorption analyzer 분석을 통하여 입자의 결정상과 형상, 입도 분포 및 기공분포 등을 반응인자의 변화에 따라 비교 및 해석하였다.

Factors Affecting Gelatinization Temperature of Rice Starch (쌀 전분의 호화온도에 영향을 주는 요인들)

  • Factors affecting gelatinization temperature of rice starches from different varieties were investigated. Birefringence end-point temperature(BEPT), amylose content, granule size distribution and degree of crystallinity of rice starches showed the significant varietal differences at ${\alpha}\;=0.01$. Susceptibility of the granule to gelatininzation was dependent mainly on the degree of crystallinity, as indicated by the significant positive correlation between BEPT and the relative crystallinity(r=0.67, p<0.01). However, granule size distribution did not affect the GT(gelatinization temperature) range, nor did amylose electron microscopy (SEM). SEM also confirmed that there is no relationship between the size and the shape and the amylose content of the rice starch.

  • The relationship of growth-in defects such as crystal originated particles (COP), flow pattern defects(FPD), laser scattering tomography defects (LSTD) was investigated in Cz-Si single crystals which had different pulling speed during crystal growing. It is concluded that the density and radial distribution of grown-in defects is strongly dependent on the pulling speed. And as the generation areas of these grown-in defects in a wafer are identical in radial position, they can be generated from same origin during crystal growing.

  • In the CMSMPR (continuous mixed suspension mixed product removal)system, the effect of temperature and RPM on the CSD (crystal size distribution) in the calcium carbonate process was investigated. In the steady state operation, the change of solution pH was small. At the low temperature and below 300 RPM, volume mean size change of calcium carbonate was stable and CSD was narrow. In the SEM view, calcite and aragonite was obtained.
