A study on calibration frequency limit of acoustic chamber type microphone calibrator and improvement method using mode shape (음향 챔버형 마이크로폰 검교정기의 검교정 주파수 한계와 모드 특성을 이용한 개선 방법에 관한 연구)

  • This paper identifies the cause of the high frequency calibration limit of the acoustic chamber type calibrator for microphone calibration and presents a method to improve it. By using a commercial finite element analysis software, we analyzed the calibration frequency limit of the acoustic chamber type calibrator through eigen-frequency and frequency domain analysis. Based on this, we designed and fabricated an acoustic chamber type calibrator that can precisely calibrate within 1 dB from about 2 Hz to 6.4 kHz and verified its performance through experiments. The acoustic chamber type calibrator fabricated through this study has the advantage of being able to calibrate multiple microphones simultaneously in a wide frequency range, so it can be usefully used for simple calibration for multiple microphones.

  • The systematic validation of the ITS devices' performance reliability is very important because it helps their performance reliability to be maintained in a certain level, enabling to assure the reliability of the collected data, processed data and provided information. Although the government's regulation, "Transportation Efficiency Act", which requires ITS devices to be validated, was passed in 2001, no systematic inspection and calibration procedures have been developed so far. Therefore, in this study the systematic and efficient inspection and calibration method or procedure is investigated by reviewing the similar cases and best practices in Korea and overseas and some recommendations are made.

Turbidity Meter Calibrations Based on Grain Size Distribution of Trapped Suspended Material (포획된 부유물질의 입도분포를 고려한 탁도계 검교정)

  • Turbidity meter calibrations were conducted using bottom sediment and suspended material collected with a vertical array of sediment traps at the coastal water off Gaduk Island. Compared to the bottom sediment comprising sand fraction of approximately 6%, trapped suspended material was composed entirely of silt and clay fractions and showed a tendency to get finer as elevation from the sea-bed increases. Slope parameter of linear regression due to bottom sediment was of minimum value and values of those due to suspended material increased gradually as the height of sediment trap increases (i.e., sediment size decreases). This result shows that turbidity meter calibration using bottom sediment can cause an overestimation error in the calculation of suspended sediment concentration and that the error can reach up to 25% in case of this study. Therefore, it is suggested that the use of a corrected calibration curve based on grain size distribution of suspended material instead of bottom sediment may reduce the measurement error of suspended sediment concentration.

  • To Analysis of Correlation of Visual Function Findings, by assessing convergence and accommodation, 92 selected objects without any ocular diseases by apperatuses of visual chart(Shinnippon CT30) and phoropter(Shinnippon VT10) at a shan distance(40 cm) were tested upon MEM retinoscopy(Welch Allyn, USA), BELL retinoscopy(Welch Allyn, USA), binocular accommodative facility (${\pm}2.00$ D nipper, Bernell Co., USA), vergence facility(prism nipper, Bernell Co., USA). The results showed as follows. MEM retinoscopy(accommodative lag) showed the same result of a right eye and left eye. Bell retinoscopy(accommodative lag) showed higher correlations between right and left eye than MEM. The lower accommodative lag meant the higher accommodative facility. The binocular accommodative facility(polaroid) was higher than binocular accommodative facility(red-green). Correlations of accommodative facility between right and left eye were higher, and as the higher monocular accommodative facility also meant the higher binocular accommodative facility, monocular and binocular accommodative facilities were relative to vergence facility, These findings can be used as a clinical guide by curing patients' visual function.

Calibration of Pyranometer with Solar Radiation Intercomparison Observation at Research Institute for Radiation-Satellite, Gangneung-Wonju National University (강릉원주대학교 복사-위성연구소에서 실외 비교관측을 통한 전천일사계 교정)

  • Although the technology for the observation of solar radiation is rapidly developing worldwide, in Korea the guidelines for comparing observations of solar radiation are only now under preparation. In this study, a procedure for intercomparison observations of solar radiation was established which accounts for meteorological and geographical conditions. The intercomparisons among observations by national reference pyranometers were carried out at the Asia Regional Radiation Center, Japan, in 2017. Recently, the result of the calibration of the reference pyranometer of the Korean Meteorological Administration (KMA) has been reported. Using the KMA pyranometer as a reference, comparisons between observations and calibrations were carried out for the standard (B to J) pyranometers of the KMA, and for the reference (A) and the standard pyranometers of the Gangneung-Wonju National University. The intercomparisons were carried out between October 24 and October 25, 2018. The sensitivity constants were adjusted according to the results of the data analysis performed on October 24. On October 25, a post-comparison observation was also performed, and the data of the participating pyranometers were verified. The sensitivity constants were calculated using only data corresponding to a solar radiation of $450.0W\;m^{-2}$ or higher. The B and I pyranometers exhibited a small error (${\pm}0.50W\;m^{-2}$), and the applied sensitivity constants were in the range $0.08-0.16{\mu}V(W\;m^{-2})^{-1}$. For the C pyranometer, the adjustment of the sensitivity constant was the largest, i.e., $-0.16{\mu}V(W\;m^{-2})^{-1}$. As a result, the nine candidate pyranometers could be calibrated with an average error of $0.06W\;m^{-2}$ (0.08%) with respect to the KMA reference, which falls within the allowed tolerance of ${\pm}1.00%$ (or ${\pm}4.50W\;m^{-2}$).

Comparison between Accommodative Response Change on the Full Vision Correction and Low Vision Correction (완전교정과 저교정 상태에서 조절반응 변화량의 비교)

  • Purpose: The study tried to figure out accommodative changes by measuring accommodative response, appearing on the full vision correction and low vision correction, with both eyes open-view auto-refractometer (Nvision-K5001, Shin-nippon, Japan). Methods: It carried out objective and subjective refractions, targeting 79 college students (58 males and 21 females) aged between 20 and 30($21.14{\pm}2.00$), by measuring accommodative changes with fixation distance at 1.0 m for eyesight of 1.0 after full version correction. The distances of 5.0 m, 1.0 m, 0.50 m, 0.33 m and 0.25 m for eyesight of 0.8, 0.7 and 0.6 after low vision correction arbitrarily added plus lens were applied. Results: the shorter measure fixation distances were, the greater changes accommodative response showed a tendency in the state of both full vision correction and low vision correction(0.7). The state of full vision correction showed a greater change of accommodative response than that of low vision correction(0.7). Both right and left eyes showed low accommodative responses in the state of low vision correction(0.7) than that of full vision correction. As a result of analyzing accommodative response at an eyesight of 0.8, 0.7, and 0.6 after low vision correction, the poorer eyesight was the lower accommodative response. Conclusions: Low vision correction from a near distance is expected to avoid unnecessary accommodative response, make eyes relaxed and prevent accommodative function disorder.
