Data Analysis of Inertial Sensors for Train Positioning Detection System (열차위치검지 시스템을 위한 관성센서 데이터 분석 연구)

  • Train positioning detection information is fundamental for high-speed railroad inspection, making it possible to simultaneously determine the status and evaluate the integrity of railroad equipment. This paper presents the results of measurements and an analysis of an inertial measurement unit (IMU) used as a positioning detection sensors. Acceleration and angular rate measurements from the IMU were analyzed in the amplitude and frequency domains, with a discussion on vibration and train motions. Using these results and GPS information, the positioning detection of a Korean tilting train express was performed from Naju station to Illo station on the Honam-line. The results of a synchronized analysis of sensor measurements and train motion can help in the design of a train location detection system and improve the positioning detection performance.

Development of an AIDA(Automatic Incident Detection Algorithm) for Uninterrupted Flow Based on the Concept of Short-term Displaced Flow (연속류도로 단기 적체 교통량 개념 기반 돌발상황 자동감지 알고리즘 개발)

  • Many traffic centers are highly hesitant in employing existing Automatic Incident Detection Algorithms due to high false alarm rate, low detection rate, and enormous effort taken in maintaining algorithm parameters, together with complex algorithm structure and filtering/smoothing process. Concerns grow over the situation particularly in Freeway Incident Management Area This study proposes a new algorithm and introduces a novel concept, the Displaced Flow Index (DiFI) which is similar to a product of relative speed and relative occupancy for every execution period. The algorithm structure is very simple, also easy to understand with minimum parameters, and could use raw data without any additional pre-processing. To evaluate the performance of the DiFI algorithm, validation test on the algorithm has been conducted using detector data taken from Naebu Expressway in Seoul and following transferability tests with Gyeongbu Expressway detector data. Performance test has utilized many indices such as DR, FAR, MTTD (Mean Time To Detect), CR (Classification Rate), CI (Composite Index) and PI (Performance Index). It was found that the DR is up to 100%, the MTTD is a little over 1.0 minutes, and the FAR is as low as 2.99%. This newly designed algorithm seems promising and outperformed SAO and most popular AIDAs such as APID and DELOS, and showed the best performance in every category.

Potential Detection and Quality Properties of ${\gamma}-Irradiated$ Corn Starch of Korean and Chinese Origins by Viscosity Measurement during Storage (저장 기간 중 감마선 조사 옥수수 전분의 검지를 위한 점도 측정법의 적용과 품질특성)

  • Physicochemical changes in corn starch caused by irradiation were investigated, and irradiated samples were identified. Viscosity, TBA value, Hunter color, and total viable count were measured after irradiation of corn starch. Corn starches from Korea and China were irradiated at 0, 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, and 15 kGy using a $Co^{60}$ irradiator and stored for 9 months at $0^{\circ}C$ and $20^{\circ}C$. Viscosity and specific parameter values decreased in all samples with increasing irradiation dosage at 50 rpm, showing a dose-dependent relationship $(above\;R^2=0.80)$ between non-irradiated and irradiated samples during storage. These results suggest that detection of irradiated corn starches is possible using viscometric method during storage. Total viable count, TBA value, and Hunter color were determined as supplemental indices for measuring viscosities of samples. Total viable count and TBA values showed dose-dependent relationship $(2.5{\sim}15 kGy)$. Differences in viscosity and total viable count, and TBA values among non-irradiated samples showed little changes with the lapse of post-irradiation time, but were still distinguishable for more than 6 months at $0^{\circ}C$ and $20^{\circ}C$ for corn starches from korea and China.

  • In this paper, we implemented 2-wire (data gnd) RS232C serial communication interface by applying the Collision Sensing Multiple Access(CSMA) Protocol. The transmitting and receiving wires of RS232C pert are connected together by the interface circuit forming data wire without hardware modification On two-wired common channel connection simultaneous transmission Don mere than two hosts causes data collision. The collision is detected by loop-back test of transmission data comparing with the fed back data to detect the data distortion. Various models are adopted to reduce the probability of retransmitted data collision and experiments show the performance of each cases. Due to allowing multiple hosts to be accessed through the common communication channel with minimum circuit addition the result of this paper can be easily applied for conventional RS232C instruments and machines to connect to the single data communication line.

  • Current traffic information is collected through a loop detector or an image detector. This method is influenced by weather and time, so a traffic information generation system is needed to replace it. A system for generating traffic information using a smartphone in a vehicle is proposed and the performance of the proposed method is verified through the collection rate and the travel time error rate obtained through field tests. In addition, we propose an algorithm for generating intersection traffic information for each direction of rotation, suggest ways to increase the amount of valid information, and confirm the results.

  • 본 연구는 신호교차로에서의 딜레마 죤 범위를 산정하고 신호위반 단속의 허용 범위를 분석하는데 있다. 각 교차로 접근로별 조사 자료를 토대로 딜레마 죤의 범위를 산정하였고, 이를 토대로 신호위반 단속에 있어 딜레마 죤의 영향을 최소화 할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 기존의 딜레마 죤에 관한 연구에서는 인지-반응 시간과 황색신호시간을 초기값으로 적용하였으나 본 연구에서는 해당 교차로의 조사치를 적용하였다. 조사 방법으로 속도조사는 스피드 건을 이용하여 각각의 대상 교차로별 접근로에서 접근 속도 및 통과 속도를 조사하였으며, 운전자의 인지-반응 시간 및 황색신호시간에 교차로를 통과하는 차량조사는 비디오 촬영을 통하여 조사하였다. 이러한 조사된 자료를 토대로 신호위반 단속기준에 맞추어 딜레마 죤에 관하여 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 딜레마 죤은 최소정지거리($d_0$)가 최대통과거리($d_c$)보다 클 때 존재하는 것으로 보았으며, 그 차이만큼의 딜레마 죤이 발생하는 것으로 정의하였다. 이에 신호위반 단속을 함에 있어딜레마 죤의 영향을 최소화 할 수 있는 방안 등을 제시하였다. 그러나 각각의 방안을 개별적으로 적용시킬 경우 문제점이 발생하였다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해서 자기감응식 루프검지기의 위치를 재조정함에 있어 하나의 루프 검지기를 정지선 이후에 존재함과 동시에 황색신호시간을 재조정하거나, 자기감응식 루프검지기의 작동시간을 재조정하는 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 3개의 교차로를 비교대상으로 선정하여 각각의 교통환경에 따른 접근로별 딜레마죤의 범위를 최소화하기 위한 대안을 제시하였다.

Performance Assessment of High-Speed Transponder System for Rail Transport on High-Speed Line (철도교통용 고속 트랜스폰더시스템 고속선 실차 성능평가)

  • It is necessary to receive telegrams transmitted by transponder tags installed along the track in order to detect the exact position of a high-speed train. In a high-speed railway environment, telegrams can be corrupted by the electromagnetic interference that comes from onboard electric train power equipment or wayside devices. In this study, we verified the railway environment compatibility of a high-speed transponder system developed as a train position detection system. We installed transponder tags on the Honam high-speed line and measured the number of error-free telegrams received from the transponder tag while the HEMU-430X was running at 268km/h~334km/h. Based on the measurement, we estimated the length of the contact zone formed between the transponder reader and tag. Field test results allow us to estimate how many error-free telegrams can be received when HEMU-430X is at speeds up to 400km/h.

  • 경량전철시스템의 개발시험을 수행하기 위하여 시험선을 구축하는데 있어서 각 하부시스템별로 요구사항을 도출하고 이를 설계에 반영하여야 한다. 이에 따라 본 논문에서는 신호제어시스템에 대하여 성능 및 기능시험을 감안한 요구사항을 도술하고 시험환경 및 시험조건에 따라 연차 검지 및 안전제동거리의 시험방법에 대해 검토하여 최적의 시험기법을 제안하고자 한다.

  • Real-time traffic data are readily obtainable by traffic surveillance systems of intelligent transportation systems (ITS). Such data greatly support further applications in the field of traffic operations, planning, and safety. However, traffic data should be appropriately processed to fully exploit the benefits of data collection capability. Rather than developing individual data processing techniques, which is major concern of existing studies, this study proposes a novel methodology for evaluating data processing techniques in an integrated manner. Also, a tool for implementing the proposed methodology is developed. Users can extract useful and more reliable traffic data based upon their ultimate purpose of data usage by the evaluation tool developed in this study. Actual freeway traffic data are, as an example, fed into the evaluation tool, and results are discussed.

Potential Detection of γ-Irradiated Panicum miliaceum by Viscosity Measurement during Storage (점도 측정법을 이용한 기장(Panicum miliaceum)의 저장 중 감마선 조사 검지 가능성)

  • To elucidate the physicochemical change of Panicm miliaceum powders caused by irradiation and identify detection of irradiation, viscosity, TBA value, Hunter color and total viable count were measured after irradiation of Panicum miliaceum powder. Panicum miliaceum powders from Korea and China were irradiated at 0, 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, 15 kGy using a $Co^{60}$ irradiator and stored for 9 months at $0^{\circ}C$ and $20^{\circ}C$. All samples resulted in decrease for viscosity and specific parameter values by increasing dosage at 50 rpm after irradiation. These values showed dose-dependent relationship (above $r^2$=0.92) between non-irradiated and irradiated samples during storage. These results suggest that the detection of irradiated Panicum miliaceum at various doses is possible by using viscometric method during storage. Total viable count, TBA value and Hunter color were determined as assistant indices for the samples viscosity measured. Total viable count, TBA values showed dose-dependent relationship (2.5 ~15 kGy). The difference in viscosity along with total viable count, TBA values between non-irradiated samples little or some changed with the lapse of post-irradiation time, but was still distinguishable each other more than 6 months at $0^{\circ}C$ and $20^{\circ}C$ for Panicum miliaceum powders from Korea and China.
