A Study on Placement of Point Detectors Based on Homogeneous Section for Travel Time Estimation in National Highway (일반국도 통행시간 추정을 위한 동질구간 기반 지점검지기 배치에 관한 연구)

  • This study was carried out to set up the logic to determine lengths of the homogeneous sections effectively in order to provide dynamic travel time on real time base for the application of the model. First, considering real time traffic pattern fluctuation, lengths of the homogeneous sections for each time period and the final homogeneous sections were determined. In order to determine lengths of the homogeneous sections according to traffic condition, the cluster analysis was used based on real time data. In order to verify the homogeneous section the case with detectors in all links and the case with detectors in homogeneous section for each time period are used. As the results of verification, each cases showed similar estimation results. The results of this study are expected to be used for National Highway traffic management and the system to Provide a traffic information in the future. According to this study, when the homogeneous section decision model are used to the ITS project for National Highway, operation cost is expected to be cut by effectively establishing point detectors.

Analysis on Video Image Detection System Performance by Vehicle Speed (차량 속도별 영상검지기 성능분석)

  • This paper not only tests VIDS(Video Image Detection System) performance by vehicle speed group but also suggests optimal VIDS height considering road and cost condition. The VIDS spreads over freeway and national highway and plays an important role in ITS(Intelligent Transportation Systems). As a result, speed data accuracy drops form 50kph vehicle speed and volume and occupancy data accuracy drop from 30kph. Lowest speed data accuracy is only 88%, but volume and occupancy accuracy are 75% and 77% respectively. The reason VIDS data accuracy drop by vehicle speed is gap distance decrease between vehicles. Therefore, this paper suggests $17m{\sim}21m$ for optimal VIDS height considering road and cost condition.

  • ATIS(Advanced Traveler Information System) is the system to offer a real-time traffic information or traffic situation for the benefit of the client. One of traffic information collection methods for ATIS research is the method of image analysis. The method is divided into two : one is the method to set two loop detectors at the area and the other is the method detecting the vehicle through an image analysis. In this paper, we propose a real-time traffic information collection system to mix two methods. The system installs multiple virtual detection lines and traces the location of the vehicle. Use of multiple virtual detection lines supplements the defect of the method of loop detectors. And we drew a representative pixels in the detecting area and used it for image analysis. This is to solve the problem of time delay which increases as the image size increases. We gathered traffic images and experimented using the system and got 92.32% of detection accuracy.

Development of An Automatic Incident Detection Model Using Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test (Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test 기법을 이용한 자동돌발상황검지 모형 개발)

  • 본 연구는 Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test 기법을 이용한 자동 돌발상황 검지 모형을 개발하는 것이다. 본 연구의 수행을 위하여 고속도로에 설치된 루프 차량 검지기(Loop Vehicle Detection System)에서 수집된 점유율 데이터를 사용하였다. 기존의 검지모형은 산정하기가 까다로운 임계치에 의하여 돌발상황을 검지하는 방식이었다. 반면 본 연구 모델은 위치와 시간대 교통 패턴에 관계없이 모형을 일정하게 적용하며, 지속적으로 돌발상황 지점과 상·하류의 교통패턴을 비교 검정 기법인 Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test 기법을 사용하여 돌발상황 검지를 수행하도록 하였다. 연구모형의 검증을 위한 테스트 결과 시간과 위치에 관계없이 정확하고 빠른 검지시간(돌발 상황 발생 후 2∼3분)을 가짐을 알 수 있었다. 또한 기존의 모형인 APID, DES, DELOS모형과 비교검증을 위하여 검지율 및 오보율 테스트를 수행한 결과 향상된 검지 능력(검지율 : 89.01%, 오보율 : 0.97%)을 나타남을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 압축파와 같은 유사 돌발상황이 발생되면 제대로 검지를 하지 못하는 단점을 가지고 있으며 향후 이에 대한 연구가 추가된다면 더욱 신뢰성 있는 검지모형으로 발전할 것이다.

Automatic Detection of Vehicle Area Rectangle and Traffic Volume Measurement through Vehicle Sub-Shadow Accumulation (차량 그림자 누적을 통한 검지 영역 자동 설정 및 교통량 측정 방법)

  • There are various high-performance algorithms in the area of the existing VDSs (vehicle detection systems). However, they requires a large amount of computational time-complexity and their systems generally are very expensive and consumes high-power. This paper proposes real-time traffic information detection algorithm that can be applied to low-cost, low-power, and open development platform such as Android. This algorithm uses a vehicle's sub-shadow to set ROI(region of interest) and to count vehicles using a location of the sub-shadow and the vehicle. The proposed algorithm is able to count the vehicles per each roads and each directions separately. The experiment result show that the detection rate for going-up vehicles is 94.1% and that for going-down vehicles is 97.1%. These results are close to or surpasses 95%, the detection rate of commercial loop detectors.

  • 본 논문에서는 고속도로 전용차로에서의 운행기준을 위반한 차량을 검지하는 시스템을 제안한다. 다인승 탑승차를 별도의 차로로 통행하도록 하여 혼잡도를 해소하겠다는 정책을 시행하고 있으며, 9인승 이상 차량에 6인 이상 텁숭자를 다인승 통행차량으로 정의하며, 이러한 기준을 만족하지 않는 차량을 자동 검지하는 시스템이다. 트리거 신호 검지기와 4조의 적외선 카메라로 차량 내부 촬영하고 결과 이미지를 분석하여 자동으로 다인승 차량을 판별하여 운행 위반을 검지한다. 테스트 결과 주야간에 관계없이 80% 이상의 우수한 검지율을 나타내었다.

Improvement of ALINEA Model Using Speed (속도를 이용한 ALINEA 모델 보완에 관한 연구)

  • ALINEA algorithm, which is one of the best on-ramp metering algorithms, was designed to control the traffic volume from on-ramp in order to maintain the optimal occupancy rate of the detectors installed downstream of the merge area. But, the reliability of occupancy rate estimated from the loop detectors, which are used most commonly in Korea, is relatively lower than other parameters such as speed and volume. Moreover, because occupancy rate depends on the length of loop detectors and site, lots of calibration work is required whenever they are installed in order to estimate the occupancy rate. Therefore, there exists room for improvement of ALINEA algorithm because only occupancy rate having some problems is considered as a control parameter in ALINEA algorithm. Practically it is difficult to measure or perceive the occupancy rate for traffic engineers and drivers. On the other hand, speed can be good alternative which can overcome the defect induced by using occupancy. In this study, occupancy based ALINEA algorithm is converted to speed based ALINEA assuming the linear relationship between density and speed.

  • Image frame analysis is a conventional way of evaluating loop detector's performance. In image frame analysis, the time to evaluate performance is linearly proportional to the number of evaluated subjects, and the results can be subjective, depending on operator's personal evaluation standards and physical condition. Also, this method is often inferior in accuracy to that provided by the evaluated devices. Therefore, it is critical to develop a portable standard system which has better accuracy and more objectivity in evaluating vehicle detectors. This paper discusses function and reliability of tape-switch detector, which can be a replacement for image frame analysis, for effectively measuring traffic volume, speed, and occupancy.

  • 현재 정보통신 기술의 발달에 상응하여 지능형 교통 시스템(ITS)은 네트워크 기반으로 실시간 교통 정보를 제공하기 위해 CCTV, GPS, VDS, 루프 검지기, 영상 검지기 등과 같은 다양한 방법으로 교통 정보 수집이 이루어지고 있다. 또한 정확한 정보 제공을 위해 정보의 수집 및 가공에 대한 많은 연구들이 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 텔레매틱스 기반의 효율적인 교통정보 수집을 위해 RFID 태그 정보를 이용하여 교통정보를 수집하여 보다 정확한 실시간 차량 정보를 제공하는 RFID 기반의 차량점보수집 시스템 모델을 제시하고자 한다.

The Estimation of Link Travel Time for the Namsan Tunnel #1 using Vehicle Detectors (지점검지체계를 이용한 남산1호터널 구간통행시간 추정)

  • As Advanced Traveler Information System(ATIS) is the kernel of the Intelligent Transportation System, it is very important how to manage data from traffic information collectors on a road and have at borough grip of the travel time's change quickly and exactly for doing its part. Link travel time can be obtained by two method. One is measured by area detection systems and the other is estimated by point detection systems. Measured travel time by area detection systems has the limitation for real time information because it Is calculated by the probe which has already passed through the link. Estimated travel time by point detection systems is calculated by the data on the same time of each. section, this is, it use the characteristic of the various cars of each section to estimate travel time. For this reason, it has the difference with real travel time. In this study, Artificial Neural Networks is used for estimating link travel time concerned about the relationship with vehicle detector data and link travel time. The method of estimating link travel time are classified according to the kind of input data and the Absolute value of error between the estimated and the real are distributed within 5$\~$15minute over 90 percent with the result of testing the method using the vehicle detector data and AVI data of Namsan Tunnel $\#$1. It also reduces Time lag of the information offered time and draws late delay generation and dissolution.
