Deconvolution Method for TOFD Technique (TOFD 법에서의 근거리 분해능 향상에 관한 연구)

  • Time of flight diffraction(TOFD) method is used in nondestructive tests of piping and pressure vessels because of its advantages over a pulse echo technique: its speed, objectivity, repeatability and its insensitivity to specimen surface conditions and discontinuity orientation. But it is the one of weak points in TOFD method that it has the dead zone in sub-surface resolution induced by lateral waves. We solved the dead-zone problem near the sub-surface by using the deconvolution method and the developed ultrasonic testing system showed high performance.

  • With the increasing use of arthroscopy and MRI for the diagnosis of shoulder problems, SLAP (superior labrum from anterior to posterior) lesions are more commonly diagnosed, and the incidence of SLAP repair surgery is increasing. Clinical diagnosis of SLAP is difficult to achieve, and many specific physical exam maneuvers have been described. However, neither these exam maneuvers nor history can provide a definitive diagnosis of a SLAP lesion. Despite this limitation, it is helpful to establish a more precise and accurate examination and to construct a preoperative plan. The purpose of this article is to review the original descriptions for specific physical exam maneuvers in SLAP, along with statistical analysis where available. This will help clinicians in deciding which tests are useful, how they should be implemented, and how to interpret the results.

  • 최근 토요타 자동차의 대량 리콜 사태로 안전과 관련된 자동차 품질에 대한 관심과 중요성이 크게 부각되었다. 본 연구에서는 나날이 높아지고 있는 자동차 품질 기준과 생산 비용 절감, 공정 자동화 요구에 부응하기 위한 차체 저항 점 용접부 품질 검사 자동화 기술 개발을 위해 적용 가능한 센서들을 비교, 검토하였다. 알려진 비파괴 검사 방법은 초음파, 와전류, 방사선 검사법 등 다양한 방법들이 존재하지만, 이 연구에서는 생산 라인 현장 적용이 가능한 소형 센서들을 중심으로 검토 영역을 제한하였다. 검토된 비파괴 검사 방법은 총 5가지 종류로 종래의 수동 초음파 검사법, 집적된 탐촉자를 이용한 3차원 초음파 검사법, NAUT(Non-contact Air-coupled Ultrasonic Test), EMAT(EletroMagnetic Acoustic Test), 그리고 너겟 프로파일러$^{TM}$이다. 이 연구에서는 각 검사법의 원리와 장단점을 설명하고 생산 라인 적용에 필요한 필수 항목들에 대해 고찰하였다.

  • Impact seismic wave test is a method for nondestructive testing of concrete structure using of stress wave which is propagated and reflected from internal flaws within concrete structure and external surface, In this study, we performed non-destructive testing using impact seismic wave test for safety diagnosis of civil engineering structures. For this, I've compared and analized the result in the way of reflective method mostly using on one-dimension such as tunnel lining, and penetration method using the way of cross hole and tomography.

Fragment Analysis for Detection of the FLT3-Internal Tandem Duplication: Comparison with Conventional PCR and Sanger Sequencing (FLT3-ITD 검출을 위한 절편분석법: 일반 중합효소연쇄반응 및 직접염기서열분석법과의 비교)

  • Background: We evaluated a sensitive and quantitative method utilizing fragment analysis of the fms-like tyrosine kinase 3-internal tandem duplication (FLT3-ITD), simultaneously measuring mutant allele burden and length, and verified the analytical performance. Methods: The number and allelic burden of FLT3-ITD mutations was determined by fragment analysis. Serial mixtures of mutant and wild-type plasmid DNA were used to calculate the limit of detection of fragment analysis, conventional PCR, and Sanger sequencing. Specificity was evaluated using DNA samples derived from 50 normal donors. Results of fragment analysis were compared to those of conventional PCR, using 481 AML specimens. Results: Defined mixtures were consistently and accurately identified by fragment analysis at a 5% relative concentration of mutant to wild-type, and at 10% and 20% ratios by conventional PCR and direct sequencing, respectively. No false positivity was identified. Among 481 AML specimens, 40.1% (193/481) had FLT3-ITD mutations. The mutant allele burden (1.7-94.1%; median, 28.2%) and repeated length of the mutation (14-153 bp; median, 49 bp) were variable. The concordance rate between fragment analysis and conventional PCR was 97.7% (470/481). Fragment analysis was more sensitive than conventional PCR and detected 11 additional cases: seven had mutations below 10%, three cases represented conventional PCR failure, and one case showed false negativity because of short ITD length (14 bp). Conclusions: The new fragment analysis method proved to be sensitive and reliable for the detection and monitoring of FLT3-ITD in patients with AML. This could be used to simultaneously assess ITD mutant allele burden and length.

  • 터치스크린 기능이 있는 LCD 패널이 부착된 임베디드 시스템의 경우, 사용자 입력 명령의 전달을 위해 사각형, 오각형, 원, 화살표 같은 다양한 도형들이 자주 사용된다. 이 경우, 특정 명령 입력 여부의 판단을 위해 터치된 지점이 그 명령을 의미하는 도형 내에 있는지의 여부를 판단하는 알고리즘이 필요하다. 그러나 이런 알고리즘들은 제한된 컴퓨팅 자원을 갖는 임베디드 시스템의 경우 상당한 오버헤드를 유발 할 수 있다. 본 논문은 도형 영역의 터치 여부의 판단을 위해 사용 되고 있는 사각형의 범위 검사법, 다각형의 교차 수(crossing number) 검사법, 원의 거리 측정법, 그리고 이런 모든 도형들에 적용 가능한 색상 비교법을 구현하고, 성능 평가를 위해 각 방법에 따라 사각형, 오각형, 원, 그림 같은 도형들의 영역 터치 여부를 판단하는데 걸리는 시간을 측정한다. 이 측정 결과, 사각형은 범위 검사법이, 원은 거리 측정법이, 다각형 및 그림을 이용한 도형일 경우에는 색상 비교법이 가장 적합한 것으로 나타났다.

Optimum Management Plan for Soil Contamination Facilities (특정토양오염관리대상시설의 최적 관리방안에 관한 연구)

  • This study was to investigate the unsuitable rate of the storage facilities, the changes in corrosion process over time after installation according to the status, the time to install the facilities, years elapsed after facilities installation, inspection of methods and motivation, and so on, based on the results of the inspection at the petroleum storage facilities conducted by domestic soil-relate specialized agency to derive optimal management plans which meet the status of soil contamination facilities. The results showed that the facilities more than 5 years after the initial leak test at the time of the installation need to be inspected periodically by considering costs of leak test and remediation of polluted soil. The inspection period can be decided by cost and leak test methods showing discrepancies for the results obtained from individual test whether it was direct or indirect. To compensate these matters, we suggested that the direct inspection method on regular schedule is recommended. On the other hand, the inspection can be voluntarily completed to ease burden of the results by inspection or equivalent level to this inspection method. Also, it may need improved construction supervision and performance test system to minimize the occurrence of the nature defects in installing the facilities as well as the upgrade program for the facilities during intervals of inspection period.

Measurement of Shunt Amount Using Radionuclide Angiocardiography: Accuracy According to Level of Shunt and Associated Lesion (방사성 동위원소 심혈관 조영술을 이용한 단락량 측정법: 정확성에 영향을 미치는 인자)

  • Purpose: Determination of pulmonary to systemic blood flow ratio (QP/QS) is important for the management of patients with left-to-right shunt. This study was performed to assess the agreement of Qp/Qs ratio using the radionuclide method and oxymetry, to investigate the factors influencing the agreement, and to know how interchangeable the results of each technique. Materials and Methods: We compared the Qp/Qs measured by single-pass radionuclide angiocardiography and oxymetry during catheterization in 207 patients who underwent both studies. In radionuclide method, Qp/Qs was calculated from the pulmonary time-activity curves using a gamma variate fit. The correlation and Bland-Altman analysis were performed according to the levels of shunt and associated lesions. Results: The mean Qp/Qs was $1.83{\pm}0.50$ by radionuclide, and $1.74{\pm}0.51$ by oxymetry. The overall correlation coefficient was 0.86(p<0.001), and Bland-Altman range of agreement encompassing 4SD was 1.05. For atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, patent ductus arteriosus, tricuspid and mitral insufficiency, the correlation coefficient was 0.78, 0.90, 0.84, 0.63 and 0.44, and Bland-Altman range was 1.51, 0.74, 0.96, 1.57, and 1.50, respectively. Conclusion: There is good agreement but wide variance between the Qp/Qs ratios by radionuclide method and oxymetry. Associated atrioventricular valvar insufficiency decreases the correlation coefficient and widens the variance. Wide overall variance suggests that Qp/Qs measurements by two techniques should not be used interchangeably.

Clinical usefulness of rapid antigen test to detect respiratory syncytial virus infection (Respiratory syncytial virus 감염진단을 위한 신속항원검사의 유용성)

  • Purpose : Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the most frequent cause of lower respiratory infections in infants and young children. Early detection allows quarantining of infected inpatients to prevent nosocomial transmission and to choose a treatment. To achieve rapid reporting, to facilitate prompt antiviral therapy, and to avoid unnecessary use of antibiotics, an easy, rapid diagnostic method for RSV is needed. We evaluated a lateral flow immunochromatography (RSV Respi-Strip test) and EIA (Enzyme immuno assay) compared to RT-PCR. Methods : From April 2007 to March 2008, 112 consecutive respiratory specimens (nasopharyngeal aspirates, throat swabs, tracheal aspirates, sputum) from patients who were suffering from the clinical signs and symptoms of respiratory tract infection were enrolled in Busan. A total of 112 patients were tested with RSV Respi-Strip (Corio-BioConcept, Belgium), EIA, and RT-PCR at the same time. Results : Of the 112 specimens tested, the number of children who showed positive results at RT-PCR and Respi-Strip were 45 and 42, respectively. The Respi-Strip rapid antigen test had a sensitivity of 88% and a specificity of 94%. The positive and negative predictive values were 90% and 92%, respectively. The agreement was 83%. Conclusion : In our study, the rapid antigen test had as much sensitivity as any method for detection of RSV. The test has many advantages such as easy performance, simple interpretation, and rapid results. If the rapid antigen test is widely applied in the clinical setting, the may be useful for diagnostic and epidemiological studies of RSV infection.
